My teen daughter and I had a last hurrah before she starts her senior year of high school. She really wanted to go white water rafting and after looking at reviews on Google and chose this company. We are so glad she did. From beginning to end our experience was exceptional. I had a bunch of questions as it was going to be our first time. I had a few back and forth phone calls with Dan who was incredibly helpful with all my questions and helped us set up a day on the river. When we arrived we were greeted by the staff and guides who could not have been nicer. They explained everything to us and helped us be fitted for our vests and helmets. When we got to the river they gave us through safety instructions for the river and made us feel we were in good hands. Alex was our guide and he was terrific! Not only did he do a great job guiding us down the river but was a wealth of information about the local birds and wildlife. It was also wonderful learning about Costa Rica- his home and a place we have always wanted to visit. Our lunch along the river was delicious and we enjoyed talking with our fellow rafters and the guides. When it was over we could have driven right back and started all over again! We just got off the river, and had a wonderful family vacation in the company of guides Vikram, Sarah, and Derrick (sorry if I misspelled names!). We were supposed to run the Illinois, but flows did not cooperate, so floated the Rogue as a backup plan. It was relaxing and serene, with mellow whitewater, loads of wildlife, beautiful riverside camps, and delicious food. This company prepares the best meals that I've had yet from a guided trip. Some local ingredients (including local wines nightly), high quality meats, special attention to dietary needs, and loads of fresh produce. Breakfasts were hearty, gourmet, and huge (think Brie stuffed sourdough French toast with fresh organic strawberries and English muffins with POACHED eggs and hollandaise!). Lunches offered a huge array of veggies, avocado, quality lunch meats, hummus, organic cookies, cheeses, and fresh fruit. Dinners were equally spectacular, with a gourmet appetizer followed by a delicious, huge dinner, and then dessert too! (Chocolate fondue one night!) Snacks were also readily available in the rafts; a great touch for always hungry teens. They offered camping gear; we took them up on their 3" camping pads and brought our own sleeping bags and tents. Those pads were super comfy! A nice luxury compared to our usual backpacking thermarests. They also set out a little library at camp in case you forgot to bring a book. We really had a lovely time, and enjoyed the company of our guides immensely. We all agree we'd like to do another trip with Momentum...and that's the highest compliment we can give! :) read more

Booked a trip on the Big 5 Kern River. They advertised an experience that was not given. I arrived at the office around 1:40 pm.The big 5 was supposed to be a 3 1/2 hour long adventure from 2:00-5:30 pm but we spent our time: 2:00-2:30 waiting for all of the late arrivals to show up at the office. 2:30-3:00 riding a bus down from the office location to the river 3:00-3:20 talking about river safety 3:30-5:00 spent time actually Rafting 5:00-5:30 riding the bus back to the office location We were advertised a half day river Rafting experience but we spent at most an HOUR AND A HALF in the water and the rest either lolly gagging, talking, or riding a bus. Not what I was expecting. I honestly feel conned out of my day especially since I spent 3 hours driving up and back. If you want the experience to be worth the money and effort you should book a different river or a full day to 2 day trip or maybe an entirely different company. PS. The workers tried to blame the short trip on the speed of the river but it truly had nothing to do with that, the issue is false advertisement. read more

We had never done any type of rafting but my friend highly recommended this company so I booked a trip on the Rogue river in the beginning of August (August 8th). This is something completely out of our comfort zone, but my kids are 10&12 and I figured it would be something different for us to experience together. Andy was our guide and safety was his priority. He made sure we were safe and we stayed in the raft during all of our rides through the white water rapids. He also stopped to show us wild blackberries growing on the side of the river, and pointed out some of the birds and trees native to the area. The very last rapid was practically a waterfall and even through the front half of the raft went underwater, it came back up and we were all still in in the raft! The video I shot from my GoPro on my helmet is amazing, and the picture we ended up buying from the independent photographer who was on the shore is going to be our Christmas card picture lol. The ice cold refreshing snack waiting for us at the end was a treat and I don't know how, but the van was waiting for us at the end. Everything was executed perfectly. read more

We did the 3.5 Day California Salmon Charter in April of 2020 with Momentum. What a first class experience from the day we sent in our initial inquiry through the moment we left. If you are on the fence about a trip with Momentum, get off of it and book your trip now! Most of the people in our group had never white water rafted before, or had only gone once. Our guides (Tyler, Mark and Alan) were top notch and alleviated all the concerns the group had. They made everyone feel comfortable, safe and excited about the entire adventure. The customer service was top notch from the top down. Pete (the owner and a guide) was around most of the time and it was evident from all the small little details what a great company he runs. Hearing his stories also was great. Every detail seemed to be thought through and the meals were fantastic. Even the lunches that were served in the middle of the rafting trip each day included fresh cut vegetables, hummus and other great food. Breakfast and dinner felt like you were eating in a great restaurant. We chose to do the "glamping" experience with the sauna and showers and those were exactly as advertised. The entire group was thrilled with the experience and the customer service. The Momentum team seemed to be two steps ahead of anything we could have thought of or asked for at every moment. We wouldn't change a thing about the trip and look forward to returning one day. In the camp Elsa did a great job with everything across the board. I have never written a poor review. This company is not trustworthy. They lied and used "nature" to blame it on. They are Not accountable and not honest. Booking them cost us a lot of time, money, and enormous effort in planning months in advance only for them to cancel on us 5 days before our departure. Such an irresponsible action from Momentum. I booked a 5 day trip with Momentum 2 months ago instead of choosing a local trip in the Grand Canyon. 6 days before our flights to OR Momentum cancelled our trip. Flights, hotels and gear purchased for this trip need to be cancelled and some of which are non-refundable. Due to the last minute nature of their cancellation, I have no other comparable options. I met up with my brother and fam of 6. My wife and I made it the 8 person tour due to covid-19. All the guides get tested and so it's safe.. And once you launch it is the river and you, sure some boats too but we had most of the trip solo.. Was peaceful at times, some fun rapids and as a parent whose 3 year old stayed back with the grandparents I see my nieces in the front of Jonathan's boat (lead) splashing them as they huddled in front of the boat let me know they care.. And the food!! Yeah was bomb... Every meal healthy and dang delicious for a river feasting.. Turbo and Mac were so cool and great.. Games, books, knot lessons.... Just good times... I had my first ever whitewater rafting trip with Momentum and had a fantastic time! My husband and I were the only people who signed up for the beginner 1/2 day trip last weekend so we were treated to a private excursion on the Rogue River. Most big companies would have probably cancelled, so we were most appreciative. We were lucky to have Rob as our guide, who was awesome! He made rafting so approachable, gave easy and clear instructions, strategized each set of rapids with ease, and kept the mood really positive. Rob really made the day great! Our 1/2 day trip involved a 45 min ride from Ashland to Gold Falls with convenient van pickup from our hotel, 1/2 hr raft setup and lesson time, 1.25~1.5 hrs in the water, 45 min (delicious!) snack time while the raft was packed away, 45 min ride back to Ashland. I don't often write reviews, but we had such a good experience that I had to share! read more

We have been on MANY rafting trips, and Momentum River Expeditions went above and beyond our expectations and previous experiences! Our guides Rob, Derik & Jeff absolutely CRUSHED IT!! We brought our nephew along, who is 14, but not entirely comfortable with big adventure. The guides took him under their wing, helping him to try new things, and get a little bit out of his comfort zone, but with absolute safety and without pressure! He was pumped rafting rapids in an inflatable kayak by himself day 3. He had an extraordinary time and left the trip feeling happier and more easy-going than I've seen him in years! We booked the 4 Day Rogue River Camping expedition. The scenery was stunning, amazing birds and wildlife, and a precious scenic River to raft on! Our camping sites were totally EPIC. Waterfall stops and miniature day hikes were a welcome change of pace as we rafted down river. Every day we stopped for lunch at some incredibly beautiful location and the guides prepared an awesome array of lunch food! You will never go hungry on this trip! It's hard to explain the JOY I felt every afternoon when we showed up to camp and it was completely set up! HELLO! They set up your tent for you! We relaxed, played in the river, played music together, wandered through the woods and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Then... guides would get appetizers and wine ready... I feel like I should repeat that 32 times. I could just sit back and relax! Fantastic wine and appetizers led to dinner also expertly prepared and served beautifully. And, I feel like it's important to point out that I never felt weird that the guys were preparing our camp and food and generally doing everything for us. They were absolutely kind and refused our help in the most caring and polite of ways. They were here for us and it was clear. And emphasis on local and organic food is what originally swayed me to go with momentum. As well as their small group expeditions. Many other rafting businesses that I looked up had upwards of 24 guests on every trip! We would not have enjoyed that. We just got back from a 3 day (2-night lodge) rafting trip with Momentum and had a truly fantastic experience. I was accompanied by my husband and 7 year old daughter and we all had a great time thanks to our friendly, reassuring and encouraging guides Shana and Tyler (and the awesome food and support from Rob). The scenery was beyond beautiful and we all got a chance to challenge ourselves with kayaking, swimming under a waterfall, and jumping off a high rock into the river, not to mention enjoying the rafting itself. We have never done a trip like this before and I was a bit nervous about being cold or sea-sick for three days, but they provided wet suits and splash jackets to deal with the cold (although we had lovely weather) and there was no issue with motion sickness. I'm so glad we did this trip and would definitely recommend Momentum. read more

This was my 2nd running/rafting trip with Momentum River Expeditions and both times they outdid themselves! From the booking process and information provided prior to the trip, to the wonderful support and care from Pete and Mike everything was superb! And the food! Even though I ran 40 miles I must have gained a few pounds from all the amazing offerings during gourmet breakfasts, luncheons and dinners that included appetizers and desserts!! Besides fabulous customer service and great food, the trail is spectacular. Last time I ran in September and this time in late April. Both seasons offer something different, but each time the Rogue River trail does not disappoint. This is the adventure for every runner (even if you run only on roads) - trust me! read more

Momentum is a great tour company! Rafting is fun, and Momentum strives to make the whole trip as enjoyable as possible. Staff, guides and service are all top notch! We did the Clear Creek-Lower Klamath kayak tour. This was my first time in an inflatable kayak, and had trouble learning how to control the boat. I was ready to give up on the first day. The guides, Tyler and James, worked with me and by the the third day, I felt very comfortable in the kayak. I went into the water many times (glad they also provide wet suits!) but I always felt safe. Off -river camping was truly enjoyable. Company provided tents and sleeping bags are comfortable and clean. Food was amazing. All meals offered a variety of foods, and dinner included wonderful desserts, like bananas foster. Breakfast on the last day was Brie-stuffed french toast. we are already deciding on which Momentum trip we will book next year. read more

Wow! What a great trip! We did a day trip on the Upper Klamath River. From the door to door the driver and two guides were excellent. They were knowledgeable, friendly, enthusiastic, and patient. We left right on schedule and enjoyed a scenic drive to the put in site. Our guide, Alan, mentioned very interesting geological, historical and other information along the way. Before we launched we had a great breakfast. They had bagels, cream cheese, lox, fruit, coffee, tea, etc etc. After a nice safety talk that made me feel quite comfortable with the guide's care for our well being, we launched. What a ride! There were two turbines (or jets as they called them) running. That made for a tremendous amount of white water. We had a small group. It was just my girl friend and another couple. The water was class 4+ but Alan told us just when we needed to hang on, paddle, or whatever. He's been doing this for over 25 years so he knew how to keep the group very safe. Also, since it was such a small group and there wasn't another group in the water to watch each other's backs, so there was another guide in a kayak running safety ahead of us in case anything should happen. The rain stayed away the entire time so the guides had us stop along the river for a lunch break. They set up a little table and put out a beautiful spread that was nicely arranged for us. After lunch the amazing ride continued. We each even got to sit on the bow of the raft and "ride the bull" as we went through the white water. The end of the day brought us to the van waiting with another little spread of watermelon, tea, coffee, etc. It was the birthday of one of the other people on the trip so they also had delicious cup cakes with candles ready for the occasion. There were kids on our trip who were in the rafts and they had a blast as well. As one of the parents put it, he loves the "built-in babysitters" in the guides. We will for sure use Momentum again. OMG! This company gives you your money's worth and then some. The guides were incredible, knowledgeable, skilled and enjoyable to be with. Their knowledge of the river, the landscape and various flora and fauna was impressive. The equipment was excellent and well cared for. The food was easily as good as a fine restaurant and presented with a flair unexpected for such a remote location. I never wanted for anything. I will book additional trips with Momentum and highly recommend this company to anyone wanting a trip of a lifetime as this truly was. My group rafted the Middle and Lower Owyhee. Two good friends and I booked a half day rafting trip about a month ago. We were lucky to have chosen this company and having been assigned Mark as our guide. He was very easy to talk to, and gave us many recommendations for the area. Yet he understood we don't get much time together and was completely non-intrusive as well. He did everything he could to make our day safe and enjoyable...letting us paddle if and when we wanted, letting me swim in deeper areas. I also appreciated that Momentum was nice enough to provide lemonade, watermelon and trail mix for us to enjoy after the ride while we waited for Mark to load up the raft and equipment (another rafting company finished the ride at the same time and their guest did not give refreshments). Would definitely use Momentum again, hopefully on a longer trip next time. read more

We had an awesome time on this trip. Scaling Class 4 & 5's and not one person fell out! The outfit prepared us from planning/packing weeks prior all the way to drop off at the end of a long weekend of rafting. The guides were professional, easy going and very very educated, not only in rafting/guiding but on rivers, conditions, preparation etc. If you want an extremely fun and exciting river rafting excursion you're going to want to use this out fit. They provided food from breakfast to dinner every day. Tents and pads were provided as well. You can't beat this for an all around get away destination journey. They will work with you for any of your special needs/requirements and pretty much create an experience you and your friends and family will enjoy from start to finish. What a fantastic trip. The whole trip was a perfect escape from reality, with a top-notch team to help me unplug. Alan, Orea and Anthony were the amazing team that led us down the 3 day/2 night lodge trip down the Rogue. They were kind, friendly, approachable, and extremely knowledgeable about the river and history of the area. We stayed at two lodges along the way, both were rustic and in line with what we expected. You can't beat having a hot shower after a long day on the river. The meals that Momentum cooked and prepared were also fantastic. I never left hungry and all the cooking was with fresh, simple ingredients. What a great find! Serendipitously, a group had canceled their booking and my brother and his family called at the right time. Two weeks later here I am on the Rogue River basking in the sun-kissed afterglow of a top-notch 3-day whitewater rafting adventure. It happened to be the 2-night riverside Lodge accommodations instead of camping (ordinarily what I would have chosen). Again we lucked out, this time in the river guide department with Orea and Mark. What an incredible duo, an ideal fit for our clan but I'm positive they would bring their A-game with any client. They brought passion, knowledge, professionalism, genuineness, warmth and kindness -- which made for an all-out super rewarding experience complete with thrill, relaxation, and laughter. We've already decided to come back someday and request them as our guide team. All in all, I have a very positive impression of this company and Pete, the owner. Andy was our primary guide for our family of four on the Upper Klamath full day trip. He was awesome! So friendly and patient, answering all our questions while also providing info and narration during the entire trip. Lorenzo was the other guide we had the most interaction with and he was also a lot of fun. We just returned from a one day Klamath River rafting trip with Momentum. We had a great experience with Simon our guide. Lots of class 4 Rapids and major drenching, loads of fun and excitement. He kept us entertained throughout the day with stories of the history of the area and its inhabitants. They surprised my husband with a birthday cake at the end of the trip as his wish was to be on a river rafting for his 60th birthday. They truly went the extra yard to make sure we all enjoyed the experience. The food was good, the equipment was first rate and we felt safe and well taken care of for the whole day! Things I wish I knew before hand: Be sure to read the welcome letter as soon as you get it, to better prepare for the items to bring. I read it only hours before leaving for the 6+ hrs road trip from Salem. Be sure to pack some USB chargers for your GoPro or recording devices. Plan your gas stop wisely, as there wasn't one nearby. We filled up after the state border and the last on until we got off I-5 and used half a tank to get there. Trip overall was as advertised. Great river experience (although it rained on the 1st trip) filled with relaxing (Class 1-2) and roller coaster filled parts (Class 3-5). Price is a little steep, but is called for given the nature of this trip and the amenities provided. Food was amazing, even for camping standards. Elegant with the good ole' camping food with breakfast, build your own sandwich/wraps for lunch with an abundance of fruits, and tacos for dinner. Tour guides were awesome. Very experienced, detailed how we would approach each class. Very did I once feel scared. Provided great tents, cots, sleeping bags. Tended to our schedule while also keeping to a certain timeline. Having some kind of bracket to hold/house the GoPro (where the guide would be) or better yet, have the guide wear the GoPro would have given a better video quality read more

I finally had a chance to do another Momentum trip last week - two down, many more to go before I accomplish their full slate of offerings! After a couple years of low water levels in the Oregon region, it was great to be back out on the river. I did the Lower Owyhee with Tyler, Arden, and Aaron and had a blast. The flows were perfect, the weather was perfect (well, except for some cold and hail the first day!), and as always with Momentum, the food was spectacular!!! Since going on my first Momentum trip I've rafted with a bunch of other companies and can easily say that Momentum is the best in terms of guides, service, comfort, and food. What a great trip yaall put on!  It definitely spun our summer into a much needed vacation mode. We did the roque, and guides Jessica, Ardon and Sam really help exacerbate a good time for the 3 younger kids, 3 teens, and 6 adults, AND kept Bonsai the dog in the boat! Did the 2-day multi-sport on the Upper Klamath complete with 2 half days of Class IV rafting, trail running or mountain biking and inflatable kayaking in class II and III rapids (no experience necessary). As with all Momentum trips, you are treated to amazing meals, snacks, and drinks. Where this is different is that you spend the night at a hidden party camp with primitive but highly functional bar, showers, platform with tents, family size dinner tables, kitchen, outhouse, comfortable seating. I can't recommend this enough. The guides are informative but casual. It's very difficult to not try to help out, but it's discouraged. So. Much. Fun! read more
