She shows me quantity mocking me, "this is what is used and the amount of quantity I'm not gonna do this again so I'm showing you" I still say thank you When she comes back with the new drink, i was about to take it and then go back to our seat where my husband is and get money to pay her, returning her my old drink, she goes "nah I'm not giving it to you until you pay it" since I'm tipsy I say please keep my drink too I'll give you the money, while I'm giving her back the drink she doesn't hold the glass and it tips off and falls and she makes a nasty face I say sorry and proceed to get the money from my husband. By then husband saw me at the waiting at the bar too long and was heading towards me to help me out. When he comes I tell him to give me money and he gives it to me, again at the bar we're trying to catch her attention, she comes back are you paying for the drink? I say yes with the 20$ in my hand reaching out to give it to her, and asked the drink you spilled I already paid for that, are you gonna give me that back? She proceeds to not give the new drink I say can I have my drink back, she screams I'm not serving you lady, get off! I was still calm and didn't say anything cuz I was tipsy, my husband right next to me while this happened. (He was confused as he didn't know what happened in the first half of the conversation as he wasn't there) We were absolutely shocked and ended up leaving, I ended up crying the whole night. Waited for the alcohol to wear off to understand what I've truly been through. Saw the timings of the bar so we could go and talk to the manager/owner about it, I called the number present in google, waited for someone to pick up, the cleaner picked up after I called multiple times, it opens at 3pm on Sunday we would've left Buffalo by then to start for home, so we went at 1pm to see if anyone was there, same cleaner. Left him our numbers, he said he will let his manager know but didn't help (as apparently he didn't know anything else, didn't even know the name of the tall female bartender, who was so ugly to me) Since then I've emailed, called, there has been no response. I'd not have posted this had there been any response since then. I've been affected by this humiliation horribly, my mental health got messed up cuz I'm still questioning as to how can someone behave like this with me, what did I do wrong, because surely the color of my skin cannot be the only reason you hate me, we were celebrating 6 months of our marriage, seeing Niagara Falls was so immensely beautiful, but this experience changed my whole perspective about human behavior, all I can say is Please donot spend your hard earned money there that is my only request. When we got home, our credit card company alerted us to two fraudulent charges on the credit card we had used for lunch. This was the only business where our credit card was taken out of our sight and returned to us that day, so naturally it raised concerns. What has been even more disappointing is the complete lack of response from management. We have called four separate times, each time being told there was no manager available. We left our name, phone number, and a detailed message on every call, yet no one has returned our calls. We understand that fraudulent charges can happen for many reasons, and we're not accusing anyone of wrongdoing. However, when a customer experiences something this serious, the least a business can do is respond promptly and take the concern seriously. The lack of communication has been extremely disappointing.

Service: The waiter was not knowledgeable about the menu and seemed to be in a bit of a hurry, like he had somewhere to be and we were his last table. One person sat without an entry and he came and asked the customer what dish he was waiting for. The server served a French onion soup that was charred across the top, the cheese was black, and only offered "I have had it like that and liked it"! Two of us got mussels, the portion was smaller than usual ( I have gotten the several times before) the bread was way over toasted, and when we asked for a bit more of the jus, he came after a while with a cup of what looked like buttered water. My point is, the cooks were not up to usual par, and the waiter did not care about serving. We still gave a 20% tip, on a $500. + bill. But it was not deserved. This review is for the owner, Jay may need to check on the food end once in a while on a busy Friday night.

So let me tell you a story about my first time at Hillikers Pastime…read more It was late on a Wednesday, and my friend and I were leaving a gig at the Sportsmens Tavern, when a girl came by on her bike and said "are you guys going to the party down the block?" We told her we hadn't heard of any party, and she said "Well you should come, they're playing music and having a good time." We got our instruments and followed her lead, but she was too fast, and disappeared, leaving us in front of a barn-looking building with a sign that read "Hilliker's Pastime." We should have gone home, but we felt an auspicious pull inward. We went in, and were transported to another realm. We drank $2 beers and were taught shuffleboard by our enormous bartender. We were hit on - hard - by 45 year old woman who kept asking us to play our instruments (we did.) We witnessed a near bar fight and listened in as an old timer in a 90s-era Buffalo Bills jacket argued about something that I can't remember. We stumbled into the back room and .. well.. around this point the memory gets fuzzy. And I can't tell if I liked Hilliker's pastime or loved Hilliker's pastime. But I will be going back.

As my entrée I got the carrot papardella, everything seemed overcooked, hardly any lobster and what little was happened to be tough and rather flavorless, of course it was the same with the shrimp and crab. The pasta was overcooked and stuck to itself and the sauce was quite sweet and far too hot, twenty minutes into the meal and it was still steaming, continuing to turn the dish into mush. The meal was for three people and came out to be $240 after tax and tip, the service was nice but considering the praise this restaurant got I'm sure it's went downhill.
