They have a large selection of both "classic" beers (i.e. Scotch Ale, my fav) and seasonal options offering plenty of flavors... IPAs, Pilsners, Lagers, Ales, Porters, etc. with some very creative blends. I recommend the POG Kölsch (passion fruit, orange, guava) which is much better than what it even sounds. Some friends and I went to Rohrbachs Beer Hall on a Saturday afternoon. It is a great place to get a beer and some great food! They have 2 parking lots and there is some street parking. My friends ordered the Beef on Weck sandwich- which they raved about. It looked to be a generous size. Another friend and I split some tasty wings and a wood-fired Margherita pizza. Excellent! And we were stuffed. We got a 3 pack of Crowlers (32 oz. beer in a can) to go. They have a cool machine that makes the can in front of you. My husband and I stopped into Rohrbach's for lunch today (Saturday, June 14th) and had a really great time. The chicken portion was HUGE--seriously impressive, perfectly cooked, and juicy. The waffle itself was fantastic, flavorful, and had that perfect crispness that holds up to the syrup and chicken. The hot honey added a great sweet and spicy kick. My husband got a side of the cheesy grits. The flavor was good, but the consistency was much, much thicker than we're used to. It actually sparked a creative idea: they were so thick, we thought they would be absolutely incredible if you mixed in some diced jalapenos, rolled them into balls, dipped them in batter, and deep-fried them. Seriously, Rohrbach's, you should try making fried jalapeno-cheesy-grit bites! We'd be the first in line to order them. The drinks were solid, too. He enjoyed a crisp, refreshing lager that paired perfectly with his meal, and my mimosa was bubbly and delicious. Overall, a great experience. The chicken and waffles alone are worth coming back for. Came here to see a friend perform some music and enjoy some drinks. I didn't know this place existed. I've been to the buffalo rd location. Parking is limited, we lucked out with a spot right I front on railroad st. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking in you immediately notice how big this place is. I first want to tip my hat to the staff, the bartenders are so incredibly friendly and make excellent recommendations. Called ahead and made reservations for 10. The table was ready when we arrived, it was 5pm, they opened at 4pm! The waitress took our drink orders and it was 20 min before they arrived. Once the entire party got seated it took our waitress all of 1.5hrs to get all our orders in, 2 folks at our table had to pay for their meal (2 hours after ordering) before they received it. I even asked the waitress to come back over and finish taking orders but she was obviously overwhelmed and unable to perform her assigned tasks. This killed any goodness of this visit. I had a wonderful experience at Rohrbach earlier this week. My husband, dog, and I stopped in Rochester overnight during a long road trip and enjoyed a beautiful outdoor dinner here. They were offering a great Wednesday night special - buy a pizza, get a pint - and we enthusiastically availed ourselves of that! My husband had the Oktoberfest beer and the Das German pizza; I had the Bartlett pizza and Vanilla Porter. Everything was wonderful and the service was lovely. I cannot say enough about the Railroad St location! As a west-sider, I grew up going to the brewpub on Westside Dr, and I can't tell you how awesome it is having this DT location in adulthood. I come here for all kinds of different scenarios! Day date (grabbing a flight, settling in for some scrabble/connect four), larger scale meetups with old friends, work dinners, post-public market hang, the list goes on and on. The service is always quick and vibe is convivial. The long tables provide a real family atmosphere that I tend to love, but beware that seating *can* get a little limited if there is a private event and a live band. I recommend getting a flight so you can try all of the variations Rohrbach is currently serving up. Personal faves: Blueberry Ale (always in rotation), Cookies & Milk (seasonal), and Griddle Cakes (seasonal). Food offerings include traditional bar food and some more Germanic fare. This review is specific for a private event held at Rohrbach Beer Hall. I hosted my sister's bridal shower at the beer hall on a Sunday and it was PERFECT. From the event coordination and planning to the actual event, it was great. Nikki (event coordinator) was so helpful with all of the planning and promptly answered any questions I had. On the day of the shower, Nikki and Donna were excellent with their service and answering any questions I had. We had the place to ourselves since it is closed on Sundays. We had a Bouquet Bar for favors and it was a display shower, both not typical, and they were able to accommodate and make it beautiful. The food was delicious (brunch buffet) and the drinks were tasty (as always). The service was outstanding. I received so many comments from the guests about how great the venue and staff were. I'm surprised after living here for so many years, this is the first time we've decided to visit. It's overall a chill atmosphere with table and bar seating. Their beer selection is vast, ranging from a sour, lager, stout, you name it they have a beer for you. I got a flight to be more adventurous trying new beers. Large parking lots across the street. We arrived at 8 and it was pretty dead for a Saturday night, and closes at 10pm. The place is beautiful, wood bar, floors and ceilings, with brick walls. Shuffle board to play. Upon us sitting at the bar there was a brunette that was cleaning up and conversing with a coworker that was seated at the bar. We sat for at least 5min without her ever greeting us. Even if she was getting off her shift- she should have addressed us and let us know that someone would be right with us- that is where they lost 1 star- VERY RUDE! The blonde bartender that ended up taking care of us was super attentive and sweet and made the experience enjoyable. The pretzels were Phenomenal!!! We also tried the crispy brussel sprouts but sent them back because we each tasted just 1 and thought they were quite boring and tasteless, as well as not crispy.. Been here once before, but my niece's husband arranged a surprise birthday celebration for her. The space they have for these events is great! Big open space with several long tables. I'm a fan of Rohrbach's Scotch Ale and Vanilla Porter, whether I get it here or elsewhere, so there's my disclaimer. I've been here a few times - the other times were weekend days when there was no entertainment. My stop the middle of December was a Wednesday night before a meeting. A friend who also goes to the meeting was joining me. I didn't know they had live music - I was looking for relatively quiet for conversation and food/drink and Rohrbach's is about as close as you can get to where our meeting was - Left hand turn onto Main at rush hour notwithstanding... It is definitely casual with shared tables, so get used to it before you go. It's part of their "charm". My friend is vegetarian so I ordered up a Winter Harvest and Truffle Shuffle pizzas to go with my beer du jour,Scotch Ale. Both were great. Timing was an issue for me between my friend running late from work and a 6:30 meeting so he wound up eating some colder pizza but it didn't seem to slow down his appetite. I'll be back. If you like beer and good food, this is your place. I've visited Rohrbach a few times now and I have never been disappointed. It's dark and cozy, fun & vibrant. Check the bar for a more relaxed vibe or hit up one of the large tables in the center for big groups having a laugh. A friend and I were at the public market and decided we needed to grab a bite and a brew. We headed over, on a Friday evening around 7pm. It was decently crowded inside mainly because one of the rooms was being used for a graduation party. We stalked the bar area for about 10 minutes before being able to snag two seats. Our bar tender was amazing and the one time that she took (what she felt was too long) to get our beers, she said they were on her. It was so sweet and unnecessary because she truly wasn't taking that long. The Beer: AMAZING. They just released a blueberry maple beer you guys. Need I say more? It's legit breakfast in your mouth. I've never had a beer there that I didn't like. So much so that I often buy their beers to have at the house. They have such a wide variety from gose, sours, IPAs, Ambers, etc that there really is something for everyone here. The Food: I walked out of there feeling like Violet from Willy wonka after she ballooned into a blueberry. We shared an order of wings (flavors of parmigiano reggiano-garlic and sweet mango chili )& pretzels with the roasted red pepper aoili dipping sauce and the mustard dipping sauce. We also shared the winter harvest pizza that was loaded with goat cheese, brussel sprouts, and prosciutto. The combination of flavors was so good that we didn't leave any leftovers. Who doesn't love Rohrbach's? You simply can't go wrong with great beer and great pizza. The scotch ale is a Rochester favorite, but I'm also a fan of the smooth vanilla porter. Both the beer and food menus change according to the season so there's always something new to try. Staff is both super knowledgable and friendly. Beautiful space too! Not only was the Beef on Weck the best I've had since leaving Buffalo (22+ years ago), the rest of our meals (Buffalo Chicken M&C, Buffalo Chicken Plate, BBQ Cheeseburger) were phenomenal. The Country Sweet Chicken flatbread blew our socks off. The home-made Root Beer was extremely good. I can't comment on their beer, as I don't drink alcohol anymore, but the food is WELL worth the trip. Side note: Prices...I would say pretty par with the local dinner prices, maybe a tad lower. A typical lager, so if you like those, you'll be happy. Scotch ale: good! Scotchy! Better than genessee! Vanilla porter: good! But very vanilla-y for a dark beer. Too vanilla-tasting for my palette. Could do with less, but if you like vanilla and dark beers, you'll like this. 7/10. Space Kittens: for hopoholics, get this. It's their best. My favorite. A moderate bite, a moderate citrus flavor. What I'd get a pint of. We bought a six pack of this, and will likely do so from a more local store again in the future. Griddle cakes: 9/10. Light and tastes exactly like blueberry pancakes. I've been here twice...once just for beer and once for dinner. It's a really nice space. Lots of wood-very rustic looking and the bar is very large. They obviously have a large beer selection as well. We had a large party (12) and I thought our server was decent. We thought it was strange because she took some people's orders and left. She came back later to take other people's orders. So, we didn't all get served at once, such was weird. In the grand scheme, it didn't matter a whole lot though. Also, the pizzas and appetizers didn't really fill us up like we had hoped. We all left still hungry or had to order more food. The beers did come fast from the bar though and service seemed to be a team effort, which was good. The food was also very good. Something I thought was strange was that they were on a bit of a wait, but yet the room we were in didn't have many tables. Adam and I came here with some family to try some different drinks and to eat. The bar area was pretty empty when we first got there so we were able to get a table and chairs for all of us. As we sat for a while longer the whole area started to fill up. We ordered some pepperoni pizzas and drinks. Our drinks came right away. I had a blueberry beer and really enjoyed it. The pizzas took a little while to get but once we did we were happy. It wasn't the most amazing pizza I have ever had but it was good to keep us full and happy. The toppings were all great but I wished the crust was cooked a bit more. The brewery itself is very large and there is a ton of room to be with you friends. There is even a party room available. I remember when they were first building this place up. It was an empty shell with a small bar, a few taps, and a lot of open space. Now, it's a bustling and lively brewpub with lots of space, lots of beer, and lots of food. The people: very friendly, courteous, knowledgeable about their food and beverages. Accurate orders and attentive. The food: Excellent. Flavorful (but not overly salty) wings and pizza. Imaginative combinations of ingredients. Fresh tasting. Better than the menu from the Buffalo Road location. The beer: one should remember this is not your crazy Willy Wonka pastry barrel aged imperial gold plated double eisbocked stout brewery. This is the icon of Rochester and where craft beer took root when craft beer was still a newborn entity. This is where you come to throw back some pints with friends and family. The beer is solid, drinkable, and krushable. They have their flagships, staples, as well as seasonals. Honestly, their beer selection is very well rounded and well made. No, they're not going to have a cognac barreled geuze or a peach milkshake fruit smoothie IPA for you. This was a fun option for my dad's birthday dinner! It's a nice alternative to the German food at the original Rorbach's, and it has a completely different atmosphere. It's nice to see that their beer blends with both flavor profiles. The pizzas were good, hot, pretty thin crust (could be a little thinner for my liking), but surprisingly our salad and pretzals were what really stole the show! The pretzals themselves were large, soft, and doughy. Everything you'd want in a soft pretzel. Served with BOTH beer cheese (my favorite) AND some really flavorful mustard sauce that my dad was crazy about! I think it was the best part of his birthday. The caesar salad, fresh crispy lettuce, and tasty croutons and cheese...but there was also the most subtle hint of mustard seed IN the caesar dressing. I'm not a huuuuge mustard fan, but it was subtle enough to just add a little WOW factor to the salad and made it stand out as not your average caesar. I only with they had a printed draft menu. We were seated a little far in the "private" room and I was going to order a flight, but the difficulty in seeing the options made me opt for my usual Vanilla Porter. A printed draft menu would bump this place up to 5 stars. Lastly, they had some really nice live music (this was a Thursday night). Last time I was in this place it was just an open space/ warehouse with brewing equipment. I knew this had been converted into something more but never had a chance to visit until this past Friday with out-of-town visitors in tow.
