Their process is well defined from over 30 years of experience in the business. Our new home was a complex waterfront build close to an hour from their offices. Mike was on site constantly handling every detail and always with a wonderful positive mindset. Jane is a one of a kind designer with class and grace who made sure every component no matter how small fit into the overall theme of the home. And the quality is second to none. This was our 5th custom build and Mike and Jane are just the very best. The end product went well beyond our expectations. Lastly, they managed the costs within a rounding error during the highest period of inflation in over 40 years while completing our home in advance of the timing estimate provided at the beginning of the project. Thank you Mike and Jane, we have been blessed to have you build our home. Laura and Michael Sicuro

Mike oversaw the entire build, while I was living out of state. I felt the entire time, that he had a more watchful critical eye on my house construction than I personally could have had if I lived there. You can't buy that kind of dedication, but if you can find it, don't pass it by.

When the salesmen came out, I was very clear I wanted French doors. He advised me to get a sliding patio door and upgrade to French doors later which was just insane to me. He told me to consider it and wrote my estimate for sliding doors and said it would be another $1000 for French doors instead. When they came out to take measurements, I reinforced that I wanted French doors not sliding doors. Then when they were being ordered (5 months after I initially met with the salesman) I was told French doors were going to be a $2k+ upgrade and that they had no idea where the salesman got the $1k from. Paul was absolutely wonderful and worked really hard with me to reach a solution and have nothing but kind things to say about him. Now we're in January (this whole process started in June) and when I spoke to Brittany on the phone last week Tuesday to set up install date I asked her what my remaining balance was, she told me $4600 (rounded). But then this morning when I go to pay the remaining balance I'm told they forgot to add in an additional $1600. I've managed 2 offices in my career, a car lot and a flooring company. Never in my life would I ever tell someone one total and then send someone to collect payment and give them a higher total, extremely unethical. I have budgeted and saved and picked up overtime hours for the total I was given and now it's once again "I don't know where they got that number from." Whoever is running their office needs to be replaced.

The business card he left identifies his title as 'Preject Manager' -- an apparent misspelling of 'Project Manager' -- and lists the company name as 'Empire Construction & Renovations,' which differs from their legally registered name. Upon investigating their address -- 2075 N. Marine Blvd Ste U #321, Jacksonville, NC -- I discovered it is not a business office. It is a mailbox at a Postal Annex shipping store that Empire abandoned and went into arrears on in 2024. NC Secretary of State records also reveal that the company was administratively dissolved in December 2025 for failing to file annual reports, only reinstating five days before I first contacted them. From May 26 through June 5, I made repeated attempts to follow up on the missing estimate by text and phone with no success. A personal promise of a callback made on June 1 was never fulfilled. I have since filed reports with the Jacksonville, NC Police Department, the Better Business Bureau Scam Tracker, and the NC Attorney General's Office.
