Shrimp kimbap (i ate 1)
Melissa P.

Grabbed a shrimp kimbap for a quick takeout lunch and didn't expect much. It was delicious!! I didn't expect the sauce and the packaging was really lux for kimbap (which i usually get in plastic wrap from a fridge). Bonus 10% off with cash but I don't remember if it's for takeout orders only! The restaurant itself is small and clean. The ahjumma helping me was really sweet :)

Tteokbokki
HaKim N.

Lots of selection on kimbap, really recommend the sausage one! They were all reasonably priced at $8 to $10. Katsu were really flaky and crispy, they were generous on the meat portion, but we wished there was more rice. Tteokboki was good, but we'd come back for the katsu and kimbap. Seating is limited and it does get busy during dinner.

Great customer service. We came for a snack and were not disappointed. We got the mega gimbap- it has everything in it! Kind of different, but I think we will go with a more traditional one next time. Then we got the ttebokki + instant noodles - if you love spicy, they do it right! Once again, next time I'd consider getting the tteboki on its own. We will definitely return and try the Tonkatsu!

This place makes great kimbap. That's the only item from their menu that I've tried so far. They are delicious, big, have lots of filling and will definitely fill you up. I would like to try some of their other menu items soon.

Pork katsu
Annie C.

Their pork katsu was really nice and tasty - the meat was not dry at all and it remained nice and crispy even though we ordered takeout to eat at home. Got their regular sauce, would probably get the spicy version next time just to cut through the richness a bit. Also tried their beef kimbap. Really enjoyed it! It was made to order and came out warm, so much better than the gimbap you get from the cold section at galleria (although I still get those when I'm there!) - also nice rice to ingredient ratio. I'd get their gimbaps again!

Cheddar cheese tonkatsu
Michelle H.

The katsu cutlets were soo delicious! I asked for the cheese tonkatsu but was given cheddar cheese tonkatsu instead. I wasn't aware that there were two different kind of cheese katsu dish but the owner was kind enough to give me the correct one! Very chill and cozy atmosphere! Inside is quite small so it gets filled up quick if you don't get here early enough. Would love to come back to try their other specialties like their kimbap and udon noodle soup!

Customer service was good as I was greeted as soon as I came in. I really enjoyed the kimbaps. They are having a BOGO on the tonkatsu one which is the one I tried. There was a wait of 30 mins for the 2 kimbap rolls which is quite a long time to wait. However when I got them, they were huge and tasted delicious, I could only finish one of the 2 rolls. I enjoyed them however the wait time for them needs to be shortened, as everyone who came in, dining in or takeout was told 30 mins minimum for the rolls.

A fairly new place in the Midland Food Paradise area. It's a nice change from all the bubble tea and hotpot places that has opened in this area. Korean food is a nice change. Initially entered, the place was empty on a spring Tuesday evening. So quiet that the server was not present. As we were about to walk out the door, someone rushed out and asked if we were dining in or takeout. We were promptly seated and were each given a menu. After selecting an item we want to order, it took a bit of time to place the order. It seems like there isn't someone constantly checking to see if you were ready to order food. They offer hot tea or water. After we ordered, the food arrived promptly. The place started to get packed as more customers came in. The food is as presented in the photos. The food was . I'm glad to have gotten the sauce on the side. The table next door had it all over the katsu and had a hard time eating it. Their kimbap is definitely their go to. Will return in the future. Maybe for takeout. The dine in area is smaller than most restaurants.

After we placed our order, they serve us caa cup of hot somen (so good), it warms your stomach. Later the meals came with 5 banchan, they all seasoned perfectly, my favorite is the lotus root and Kimchi. Slice pork broth soup lightly salted and comes with 2 dips (mini sauce pot) on aside, personal preference would be gochujiang mix on the right which gives you a punch of spice. It's hard to find good Korean restaurant in Markham/scarborough. This is definitely a hidden gem, will definitely come back with the boys.

The broth wasn't very salty but still flavourful and once you let the peppers steep into the broth, they add a lovely spicy kick. Another substantial dish is the steamed pork bo saam ($49.99 for large) where slices of pork belly are kept warm on a hot plate. Diners tuck these soft meat slices into lettuce, Napa cabbage, and turnip with a smear of the savoury bean sauce for a protein packed bite. Our table was split about the haemui pa jeon ($28.99). The size of a medium pizza, it's made for a group. Personally, I found it way too thick and didn't contain enough ingredients to balance out the doughiness of the Korean style pancake. Conversely, my relatives preferred the heft as it contrasted the crispy exterior and soft interior. I guess it depends if you're a thin versus pan crust type of pizza lover. I'm firmly in the Neapolitan camp. I thoroughly enjoyed the crust that develops on the bottom of yachae dolsot bibimbap ($18.99). And the hot stone rice bowl contained a good combination of ingredients to ensure there was plenty of vegetables and beef to go around. De Chou's LA kalbi ($34.99) was rather neutral with very little sauce, so you mostly taste the beef. I personally would have preferred more sauce to help caramelize onto the beef ribs, but the older members of the family appreciated the plainness and liked that it was tender. This is a long review for the rest go to Gastro World.

While the food took some time it was understandable as it was very busy. The waiter was very apologetic about the wait. In terms of the interior, it's just one more thing that makes this place such a good dining option. The interior makes you feel like you're not in Toronto. You can get your gamjatang w/ noodles though which is cool. I liked the flavour of the supreme chicken but it's a shame that the chicken wasn't that crispy. I say this with all honesty. The chicken was slightly overcooked because while the meat wasn't dry, it certainly wasn't juicy either. The taste was on point though. 4 stars overall (5 if the chicken had been crispy). Will be back for sure because of those huge portions!

It's well decorated and fun, but not super tacky/hipster-y or anything. For the food, my friends and I ordered 5 things and shared amongst the 3 of us. I didn't try the Fried Dumplings or Beef Bulgogi, but my friends seemed to enjoy them both! Beef Bone Kulgooksu (5/5) The broth was amazing and super comforting! The noodles were nice and chewy, and it felt like a pretty big portion and definitely worth a try. Soy Sauce Fried Chicken with Rice Cakes (4/5) There were really not that many rice cakes, but the chicken was excellent with a nice crispy outside that's not overly coated in batter. Boiled Pork Belly with Green Onion (4/5) The pork belly was pretty juicy and fell apart nicely, although the strips of meat were thinner so some pieces felt a bit more dry/overcooked than others. The green onion blends well flavour-wise and was not over-powering! Something to note is that this place is definitely understaffed, with only 2 people working the floor. My friends and I had waited a decent amount of time (~15-20min) despite there being empty tables as 4-5 groups of tables left after we arrived, and the tables had been cleared and wiped down and set. We had been at the top of the waitlist, and unfortunately we were heavily discounted that another group that arrived later than us had gotten seated before us and another couple who had already been waiting a while (maybe because they had a larger party?). At the end of the meal, we had to ask for the bill and takeout containers twice because they forgot the first time, and therefore spent 10-15 minutes waiting/trying to get a waiter's attention. Overall, I would say that it was not a terrible experience, but I don't know how I would feel coming back with a small group again

The decor is from the previous store I think called maki momo? The dine in is counter seating. The taste is definitely not your typical Korean soup spices but the pork bone was definitely fall off the bone and tender which some Korean places serve it very dry. The spicy fish and veggie soup was also different as the fish used I believe it's snakehead where other places usually have that thick cut white fish which is meh. So I really enjoyed it. Definitely don't set the expectation as authentic Korean dishes for these two dishes in terms of taste because it's quite different. The pork bone soup had a lot of garlic in it but something about the soup base gave me sukiyaki flavours. The fish soup was slightly different as well but also can't narrow down what it reminds me off but that one gave some Chinese spin to it. It's dry aged meats so you can expect the pricing to be higher than other Korean bbq's. The service was top notch with servers coming to check in with us throughout our meal. The food was amazing here and the quality of their meats is definitely the highlight. Here's what we got: Yukhoe (raw beef tartare) 5/5 - So fresh, so delicious and a must get appetizer. Pairs perfectly with the sweet pear slices and delicious crisps. Cold Noodle Soup 5/5 - Chewy noodles with a cold broth that is the perfect carb and contrast to the bbq meats. Refreshing and delicious. Heritage No Name 5/5 - Such bang for buck in my opinion. $25 for 240g of this premium heritage pork. When cooked, there was no porky flavour at all, it got so brown when cooked that it almost looked like beef. A must get! Marinated bone-in short rib 5/5 - This was so good and was one thick piece of short rib. My favourite meat of the night for sure. Like all Korean bbqs, this spot also serves a variety of banchans and kbbq comes with a complimentary soup that I thought was the best compd soup ever (compared to all other kbbq places). Parking can get busy in the garage as only the first 2 floors are dedicated to visitors while the upper floors are monthly passes. Note that Omiwol provides 4 hour parking validation if you eat there - more than enough time for meal. Staff were friendly and provided helpful tip around the amount of food and cooking the meat. We came on a weekday for lunch and decided on the lunch feast for 2. One thing that I immediately noticed was different than other Korean bbq places was that they seem to have internal ventilation within the grills at each table as there is almost no smoke in the restaurant despite many grills going on. This gives the restaurant a higher class feel and your clothes don't smell like bbq meat by the end of your meal! In terms of the meat, these were the stars of the meal. The pork belly had a nice fat that crisped up on cooking. The collar was tender and meaty that developed a good crust on grilling. The flat iron steak was soooo tender and juicy. Similarly, the picanha was meaty with good flavor though a big firmer. The banchans and lettuce were fresh. We got kimchi, spicy cucumber and onions, pickled onions, cabbage and jalapeño peppers, pickled sheets of radish and honey glazed sweet potatoes. All of which were tasty and go well with the bbq meats. On the side is a dish of sauces that include what looks like a sweet brown sauce (to me had minimal flavor relative to everything else), fresh wasabi - really great accompaniment to the beef and seemed more authentic than normal horseradish like wasabi, and a red sauce that reminds me of sauce that goes on bibimbap. The lunch set also comes with your choice of pork or beef kalguksu which is like a home made noodle dish in a stew. Very enjoyable to have to contrast the bbq meats. For us, our meal ended with melona popsicle which they have a variety of flavors. Price: 70$ pre tax and tip for lunch special which was well worth. Bring cash for a 5% discount.
