My friends and I ordered through uber eats and even though it was through delivery, that sh*t still hit. We ordered Tteokbokki, Japchae, Spicy Chicken Burger and Glazed Boneless chicken thigh with sweet and spicy sauce. I ordered the chicken burger for me and tried a couple bites of everything else. Those glazed chicken thigh pieces were on point. They're not at all spicy but I enjoyed the flavour and that it was not all breading. The chicken burger was actually really good and I'd say is one of the better chicken sandwiches I've had. The chicken piece was friggin huge. Poking out all sides of the bun. The bottom of the bun got a little soggy because of the sauce but it wasn't a big deal. I couldn't actually tell how spicy the chicken was, as there were also jalepenos in the sandwich. I appreciated all the ingredients that it came with. Everything worked and yes I would order it again. Parts of the chicken without sauce had an excellent crunch that held up through delivery. Japchae was good but I really haven't met a jacpchae I didn't like. I enjoyed the small beef pieces in it too. Can't fairly comment on the tteokbokki because I barely had any but my friends always order this with the cheese and ramen and really like it. The noodles were excellent. Flavours were really good. Portion size was good. But there was barely any vegetables and meat in it. It was very disappointed that I got a few pieces of meat and veggies for that price read more

Is Don Chon the new Bon Chon? Tried out this place with a group 6 mainly for their Korean fried chicken, which is a solid choice for that. Two options - sweet and spicy (wet) or soy (dry). I personally like saucy wings so the former is my go to. The banchan had japchae, which is great with a refill. The portion sizes are quite generous and as expected the KFC is good and so was the ja jang myeon. Another highlight is the bulgolgi poutine! I didn't expect to like it so much. It makes for a nice indulgent pairing with the fried chicken. The downside is some of their other dishes aren't that great - particularly the Korean fried rice. It has this weird fishy metallic after taste that all 4 of us who tried it was turned off by it. Apparently it's suppose to be like that? They had great service though and offered a refund since we didn't like it. My friend had the grilled fish combo with the stew. I think he said it might be trout, mentioned that the fish didn't taste that fresh. The non spicy cold noodle with broth was only available in the warmer seasons. I ordered the spicy version as it was available, but my mistake because I thought it had a little bit of broth from the picture but was a bit disappointed that it had none but just spicy paste. It wasn't bad but was too spicy for me to eat it without broth so I took it home and zhushed it up with chicken broth and miso paste it tasted great. Overall good place if you're going for KFC, but would advise to avoid the Korean fried rice. read more

Really happy that bare this one pop up in the neighborhood! Menu has a bit of everything including your traditional pork bone soup and bulgolgi. The house complimentary starters are delicious, jap char noodles sweet potatoes and 2 kinds of kimchi are great and not too salty. We tried the ramen , pork bone soup and 2 kinds of fried chicken with sauce on the side. Fried chicken was light and crispy, not oily at all, with a slight hint of curry which was a nice surprise! The wings were super tasty but the boneless chicken thighs were great as well. They serve a nice de purple rice instead of traditional white, which again, was a nice bonus. Staff is super friendly and flavours were good...we will be back to try out more of the menu! read more

I ordered the veggie tofu hotpot. The waitress didn't ask me how spicy and I forgot to say because they usually ask. When it arrived, there was barely any soup. I could've eaten it with a fork. I asked for more soup, but she said it would be cold or I have to wait a long time so I asked for hot water. She said I'd have to wait while she boils some. The water diluted the soup but it was too spicy for me anyway. 2 small sides and rice came with it. I don't think I'll be back. read more

Ordered the jajangmyeon, japchae, seafood pancake and pork dumplings. The japchae was soggy but the portion was big. Pancake was super disappointing as the flavour was off, tasted undercooked and didn't have too much seafood in it. The dumplings were average. Jajangmyeon was good though, on the sweeter side. Service was fine but definitely not a go to for Korean food, especially for the above average price point. Ambiance was nice as a family spot. read more

We've been to Don Chon a few times now because of it's proximity to my house and it's en route to Costco! We stopped in on a rainy Friday night for some comfort food. Ordered the 10 piece boneless chicken ($19) with sweet chilli sauce on the side ($3) and the bulgogi with rice ($21). We got 3 small dishes of banchan (kimchi, bean sprouts and japchea). The fried chicken also came with a small dish of pickled radish. We requested refills of the banchan almost immediately. Sometimes I wish they would provide a bigger portion, especially when there's 3 people in the party! Food came out pretty quickly. Fried chicken was crispy but tender on the inside. Bulgogi was sizzling and steaming fresh. We love Don Chon for quick and simple meals before a Costco shopping trip so that we don't have to cave and get the $1 hot dog at Costco! read more

Decent Korean with better than usual service. HOWEVER, I did not get the KFC or anything with cheese, so perhaps these items are better? Interior is nicely renovated and bright. There are also booths and tables with elements so you can cook where you're seated. Restaurant is a good size. Parking: $1/hour residential, including angled, parking on Loma. I don't think there's any spots behind the restaurant. We ordered PBS ($12) and Dolsot BBB ($14), it came with 3 sides which were kindly refilled. So was our tea, btw without needing to ask. Although the bowls looked bigger, the portions esp the rice was smaller. I usually don't finish a bowl of rice at Korean restos, but it was no issue here. The PBS soup was maybe filled mid-way. There were 2 big portions of pork. I couldn't get through the end of the soup tho as it was too salty esp at the bottom. I didn't try the Dolsot BBB, but it didn't looked as though the rice was cooked in the stone pot itself. There was no crispy parts and it just looked rice was cooked, then transferred into the stone pot. Overall, it was ok. I haven't been to Chaban in a while, but it is literally a few units away. Not sure how two Korean restaurants will fair since they're soo close together! Service was a bit better than the food itself. read more

The food is delicious and a great deal at its price point. It is one of the few genuine Korean restaurants that can be found in Toronto. They produce their own kimchi and it is fantastic. I highly recommend the spicy squid dish and bulgogi. Staff is very welcoming and kind. Looking forward to visiting again. read more

Mom and pop korean shop that opened on the queensway. Came in on a friday night and it was packed! That night we came in there was only 1 server but that didnt bother us much as he was super attentive and quick. This korean joint does authentic korean bbq and also serves as a korean bar that has the classic korean fried chicken. I was craving a pork bone soup and was happy to see them having it on their menu (along with other soups and stews as well) hubby ordered the bulgogi beef and we also ordered a side of the fried chicken wings (5 piece) Pork bone soup wasnt the best in my opinion... no spice and not enough flavour as some other places :( Bulgogi beef was served with rice and jap char. Very tasty and flavourful and decent in price as well! Now... the star of the show was the deep fried chicken wings. WOW flavourful fall off the bone fried chicken here! You can have it sauxes but we opted to have the sauce on the side and it was soooo good. Great servixe, decent price and delicious korean foods. Also not stingy on refilling side dishes here! The staff was very friendly when greeting us. She showed us to a table which was very clean. I'm guessing the place was newly refurbished because all the chairs and tables looked very new or recently cleaned. The prices were a little high, but that was ok because the quality of the food surpassed expectations. I am glad they also give refills on sides. The Korean BBQ isn't open yet but they mentioned it will be in a couple weeks. read more

Don Chon is the newcomer to the Queensway strip and though it looks inviting enough and the restaurant itself is more than comfortable, we found the food not worth the money we paid. Their pork bone soup pales in comparison to the incumbent down the street and the beef short-rib was too rubbery and chewy for my wife's liking. $24 is way too much for chewy, rubbery galbi. I was happy to see another Korean place on Queensway, but this is one place I'll be avoiding. read more

Rainy day, decided to go for Korean - right by our home so we thought why not, looked pretty nice and quiet and the menu was appetizing enough. Ordered rice cake and pork dumplings soup (with egg drop), fiance ordered jajeungmyun and we shared boneless chicken bites (s) , sweet and spicy. We honestly weren't expecting it to be mindblowingly better than any other authentic Korean joints we've been too, but we're very pleasantly surprised with the flavour of everything we ordered! My soup was flavourful without being overly salty, and the portioning of rice cakes and dumplings was perfect for each bite. The jajeungmyun sauce was actually on the lighter side which the fiance liked because it didn't drown his tastebuds. Boneless chicken bites were absolutely delicious and filling, we probably shouldn't have ordered it lol but it was very enjoyable as the chicken was very tender and the sauce was the perfect amount of sweet and spicy (I can't deal with spicy well and I loved this) Would definitely make this our place for Korean cravings! read more

Was hesitant coming in due to reviews but once I tried I have nothing but positive things to say. Amazing food, fast and polite service. I've had a lot of Korean food in this area, but this place is definitely one of the better places. The sweet and spicy chicken bites were tender, juicy and not too spicy. It had a beautiful crispy crunchy followed by a juicy center. Would definitely recommend. Ja jeung myeon was just right, not too salty and had decent portion size. Prices are actually slightly cheaper than average for this area, so for the portions and quality I would definitely recommend this place. So great to be able to support a superb local spot during COVID lockdown. Excellent meals, and they managed to make take-out a positive service experience. The kimchi is just spicy enough, the Bi Bim Bap is top notch. Sadly fried egg doesn't do take-out as well as it might, but if that's my biggest complaint in the middle of a pandemic, I am a fortunate person! The soy chicken.. was so salty and tasted only of korean curry powder. I'm aware kfc uses curry powder which I am a fan of but this was an overpowering use of it. The sweet and spicy was neither sweet nor spicy. It was just... like a store bought red sauce dumped on top. I saw in a previous review that their food menu's was not that great but the chicken was the best thing... I've eaten Korean food my whole life and felt that although the food was so mostly authentic, it was a lot sweeter than I'm used to. Maybe they adjusted the taste to suit western palate?
