The resto is actually big enough to fit large parties! Came w/ a large group of friends after a saturday badminton session. You have to kinda enter from a sketchy back entrance. The server wasn't the friendliest but she was prompt when we needed her which was good. The portion sizes are nice and big. They have pork bone soup which uses the traditional spine of the pig but they also have pork and pork ribs soup (which they're always sold out of .... sad face). You can get your gamjatang w/ noodles though which is cool. I liked the flavour of the supreme chicken but it's a shame that the chicken wasn't that crispy. I say this with all honesty. The chicken was slightly overcooked because while the meat wasn't dry, it certainly wasn't juicy either. The taste was on point though. 4 stars overall (5 if the chicken had been crispy). Updated review July 2025. I visited Onnuri to have lunch. The food was just as good as the first time. The bulgogi dupbob had a generous portion of beef and veggies. The fried egg on top was cooked medium well. I like the egg yolk runny so you can spread it on the rice. The Goma fried chicken was juicy and crispy. The sauce has some red and green chilies to give some bite. Overall great meal and service was friendly. They give you 5% discount if you pay cash. Came back here for some takeout - one of our favorite Korean restaurants. Service is always friendly. We got our typical stir fried squid and vegetables with rice and fried egg. Always great spicy sauce and all the veges are cooked well. Egg on top is always delicious to break the yolk into the rice. 5/5. Wow, this restaurant is awesome. We tried their supreme fried chicken, JajangMyun (black bean pork noodle), and the GamJaTang (pork bone soup). The Supreme fried chicken was amazing. Sometimes fried chicken can be a bit dry, but this was super juicy and tender. The sauce was nice too, but next time, I would probably get the sauce on the side so I can control how much sauce I have on it. The JajangMung was good, but it tasted kinda like regular spaghetti. It might just be me and that I am not used to this dish. The GamJa Tang was great. Probably one of the better pork bone soups I have had. The lady who runs the restaurant is so friendly and kind. OMG, this place is just awesome. Their chicken is just fantastic. Awesomely done. You have to come here for a pilgrimage if you love Korean fried chicken. I only tried their Sauce Chicken and I am determined to go back next time for other flavors. They also have those very traditional pork bone soups. They use pretty good ingredients. Chicken (supreme & gold cheese) $23 per order I'm not sure what's in the supreme wings but they slapped like gar par with the signature Korean red sauce. Seafood udon (can skip), but they had loads of seafood. So if you love clams, mussels, shrimps there was at least a pound inside. Snow fries $7 fries with cheese powder. I've ordered from Onnuri a few times and I've never been disappointed with the food. Today, I ordered original Korean fried chicken, sauce chicken and tteokbokki for take out. It came with kimchi side dish, fish cake, and cubed radish. I find the portion sizes at Onnuri to be pretty big compared to other fried chicken places. I am always really full. In terms of the food itself - can't complain. The original chicken is my favourite - it is crispy and just delicious. The sauce chicken is a combination of sweet and spicy and enjoyable too. This place has one of the best Korean fried chicken! Their pieces are always huge and juicy, never dry. This time we decided to be more adventurous and tried the black sesame fried chicken. The black sesame sauce is sweet (similar to black sesame desserts) and thick, while the chicken still remained crispy and juicy. We ordered Gamjatang, Soondaeguk, King donkatsu and seafood pancakes through UberEats for a Mother's day dinner last night and the food was better than I had expected. I was a bit hesitant to order Soondaeguk (blood sausage soup) as most restaurants I've tried this dish in (at least in Toronto) have served up a poor version of this robust soup but I was pleasantly surprised by Onnuri's version. This hearty soup was brimming with substance (lots of sliced pigs ear, blood sausage slices and organ meats) in a broth that was so well-balanced with all my favourite Korean spices and herbs (perilla leaves, ground wild perilla seed with tons of green onion and asian chives). I will definitely be thinking about this soup for a while. Gamjatang also fared very well although at first glance, we thought it would be on the mild side as the broth looked fairly clear. This soup was also very well executed with cleaner yet flavourful broth with generous amount of fall off the bone pieces with an obligatory potato and napa cabbage. The katsu was your standard thinner pieces of pork in panko crumb. Your average katsu but nothing to write home about. The seafood pancake arrived a bit soggy (as expected) but a quick re-fry on a oiled pan did the trick and was tasty. Came here with a friend for dinner, as this was both our first times here. I usually have my set of go-to Korean restaurants but felt like trying something different for a change. We shared the tok tok chicken and a kimchi jigae. The highlight of the meal was hands down the chicken. It was so saucy and had a delicious balance of sweet with a bit of spice. The chicken was also hugeeee (my picture doesn't do it justice) and so meaty. It was really satisfying. The kimchi jigae was meh in my opinion. It was what you would expect but nothing mind blowing. The prices are fair. What I didn't really like was that everything was served with disposable dishes and cutlery, which took away from the dining experience. The supreme flavour was much better taste wise , but could definitely benefit from a little less sauce, as it can get quite heavy the further in you get. The garlic flavour really comes through. The weather has got me mad craving for some spicy soup I got the Seafood JeonGol at Onnuri because I was feeling under the weather and wanted something to warm me up. It was definitely what I needed as the soup was full of flavours and had the right amount of spiciness. The hot pot was also loaded with seafood such as crab, mussels, shrimps, fish fillet, octopus, and lots of veggies. However, given the portion size, I felt that it was a bit too pricey. Our usual spot for Korean food had a line out the door so we took the opportunity and discovered this place for a late lunch. We appreciated the variety on the menu unlike our usual spot. We ordered the fried chicken, bibimbap, pork cutlet, jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and yookgaejang (spicy beef soup with vegetable and noodle). The fried chicken was so juicy! It was not oily and did not feel heavy on the stomach. As for the bibimbap, it tasted pretty standard except that the rice was a tad over cooked and so it had a mushier texture. The pork cutlet was on the dry side so the dipping sauce that came with it was necessary. The yookgaejang was tasty, and it wasn't that spicy. The star of the meal though was definitely the jajangmyeon. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the sauce was not overly salty which can be the case with black bean sauces. The server was also friendly and attentive throughout our meal. We were served extra kimchi and radish without needing to ask. Even though there's no lack of Korean restaurants in Toronto, I still get excited whenever a new one opens up. So when I happened to be in the area with my family, I immediately suggested that we try this place out. The menu astonished me in how extensive it was. I thought the pages would never end! Traditional Korean stews and rice dishes? Fusion Korean Chinese like jajangmyun? Family style hot pots? Samgyeopsal? Yes, yes, yes, and yes. After a few excruciating minutes, we finally decided on the bibimbap and cold noodles. I was happy to find that the prices seemed to be quite a bit lower than what has been the norm lately. Unfortunately, it became obvious that they compensated with smaller portions and honestly, a considerably poorer quality of food. The bibimbap was 90% rice - although the purple rice was nice, we had to eat it with banchan for it to even actually resemble a proper dish. The noodles were alright, but the spicy sauce was extremely sad. Watery and almost tasteless, it basically sunk into the bottom of the bowl instead of mixing with the noodles. Environment-wise, there was nothing fancy - the typical Korean restaurant decor (metal chopsticks, self serve water, k-pop music). We came at an off-peak time and service was pretty much non-existent. At times, it was difficult even locating the waitress in the small restaurant. They did make a bit more effort towards the end, asking about the food and thanking us when we left. The reason that this is a 3-star review and not lower is that I'd like to give them a chance. The sheer variety on the menu likely means that not everything will be done well - hopefully they figure out (or Yelp figures out lol) what their best dishes are. We wanted to try a new Korean restaurant and Onnuri came up on our recommendation. They are known to serve classic Korean dishes, as well as Korean Fried Chicken as well. When we placed our order on the phone, the worker was very polite, and patient when we were deciding what to order. She said it would take 10 mins, so we didn't have to wait long at all. I ordered Gamjatang, and I was very impressed with the taste overall. Even though it was a little saltier than what I'd usually have, there was a good balance between spiciness & taste. I was also surprised how big the pork pieces were as I was able to get big chunks. I only wish they gave more side dishes as the other restaurants usually gave more, and more soup since it wasn't filled to the top in the container. Wow price point and food. I have to admit that I did check yelp before heading to this place. It is not news but Scarborough does not exactly inhabit the most Koreans and so, the city itself lacks quite a bit of good Korean joints. Onnuri was definitely an eye opener. For my craving, I checked relentlessly for a restaurant open at the dinner hour and thought I would give this place a try. The entrance to this restaurant in the plaza is almost literally a hole in the wall. It's located on the back of the front-facing shops. We had the option of dining on the patio or in the restaurant. Personally, I would have opted for the dining room but we chose the patio due to my partner's preference. We ordered a black sauce fried chicken to share and I ordered the regular: kimchi jigae. I realized that the pricing of their food on their online menu was very reasonable. Almost as reasonable as prior to the pandemic. Both my partner and I were really impressed by the portion size and food. As always, we adored the side dishes that came with the soups and bibimbap. The kimchi jigae, I would say, is pretty average. There was not much to write home about. You had your standard: fatty pork, kimchi, rice cakes, and also spring onions. I was however, pleasantly surprised as they provided a bowl of purple rice! Honestly, at this price point, I was not expecting much. The black sauce chicken was a interesting. I think it is for those who enjoy sweet foods. The sauce included grounded black sesame and really resemble that Chinese dessert with, surprise surprise, black sesame. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the paste as this was really right up his alley. Personally, I will return for more savoury flavours. Overall, this place is really a neighbourhood kind of joint. Wow! What a great find! If you're looking for delicious food, Onnuri is the place! We ordered the Original Fried Chicken, Supreme Fried Chicken and the JaJangMyun. There is ample parking in the back. However, it does share a lot with a banquet hall so if you come during a function of any sort, it might be tough to find parking. I like the feel of this restaurant. It really has a nice homey feel. The tables aren't too close to each other. They're nice and big so you never feel squished. The washrooms were kept very clean and spacey as well. It was a restaurant, but it did it's best to not make you feel you were in one if you know what I mean. The menu has a wide variety of Korean dishes to choose from. On the walls, there are daily specials to choose from as well. There's also some mix and match combos that you can pick if you want more than just one entree. Big eaters like me will appreciate that. The food is here will get the job done. That's the best way I can put it. Nothing we ordered really amazed us. It will fulfill your needs but I think you will find better versions elsewhere. In the end, if you're craving Korean, this place is not a bad option at all. If you live around Pharmacy and McNicoll, this is a pretty good option for Korean. Spotted this restaurant several times as I passed by the intersection. The restaurant is not very big with one waiter only. At first, I dis not come with any expectation but ........everything is excellent! I ordered a combo with a bowl of cold noodle and an order of sizzling pan fried short ribs and an extra order of fried chicken ball on top. Bowl of Cold Noodle (score 5/5) I especially like the broth of the noodle. Unlike other Korean restaurants, the taste of the broth is not refreshing without heavily used of vinegar and there's sweetness in the broth. Other than the noodle and the broth, there are two slices of cucumber, two slices of pear, two slices of beef, half an egg and slices of turnip all around. Love the broth a lot. I don't mind just drinking the broth only without the noodles. Short Ribs in Sizzling Pan (score 5/5) The ribs have marinated very well! The taste is just perfect! Even the onion at the bottom of the short ribs have absorbed the marinated sauce of the ribs and they tasted so good! Deep Fries Chicken Balls (score 4/5) A bit disappointed.
