I had a little bit of extra time and was in the area so I decided to stop by and check out their new place (recently moved like 3 minutes down the road. The new place is huge in comparison. They have a bunch of tables and a bar where a sign said drinks will be coming soon. Service was fast, food was pretty good. I got the brisket, and you get the option of chopped or sliced. They have some of the best BBQ sauces you can find! Definitely not anything fancy but great if you are looking for some good casual BBQ.

BBQ or rather smoking meat is very time consuming. It's always nice to find some place that has smoked meats that are almost as good as homemade. It just makes having a good meal so much easier. We tried this little spot in Halfmoon because we wanted some good smoked meats. SO had the brisket and pulled pork while I had the pulled pork and BBQ ribs. Meat on the ribs just fell off the bone. Nice! Rollin Smoke also gives you a choice of three sauces to use on the meats....the mustardy based Carolina sauce, the Texas smoky sauce and then my new fav - the mango habanero sauce. Oh My Goodness! A little kick, a little sweet but a lot of delicious. Sides were the usual mac & cheese (a little BBQ sauce smoky with some jalapenos), mac salad, baked beans, corn bread (also with jalapenos). The glutton in me ordered two meats, but with the serving size is large enough for one meat to be ordered. We both took home half of our order and enjoyed it again for another meal. Parking is for the entire strip mall. There are a few tables outside to dine since the inside does not appear to be accepting guests as yet. I did see a number of people getting orders to go. Yes, another good spot for good food.

Today was opening day for Rollin' Smoke in Halfmoon and I was prepared to come across some glitches. I didn't find any! Located at the end of a small strip mall that also has a Mr. Subb, I wouldn't at all be surprised if more folks come rollin' in for the BBQ than for a sub. It being my breakfast/lunch time, I decided to go for a simple Pulled Pork sandwich ($6). It came with a small, fresh cornbread muffin and I accepted the offer to have coleslaw and pickle added. There were three squeeze bottles of sauce to choose from on each table - BBQ, Carolina Gold (my favorite), and Jala Mango. The jala mango would benefit from being in a different container since chunks of something kept clogging up the tiny hole at the top of the squeeze bottle. None of the sauces were overly spicy, but after I finished my sandwich it was obvious to me by the pleasant sensation I had in my mouth that I had eaten some level of spiced food. The pork was nice and tender and flavorful. My personal preference would have been for a bit more smoke flavor, but that won't stop me from returning to try other items on the menu. They also offer ribs, brisket, pulled chicken, smoked mac & cheese, baked beans, fries, potato salad and mac salad. They also have a Piglet Menu for kids. On the lighter side, I can see myself returning to also try their Wings, Nachos, Tacos, and Pig on a Stick (bacon wrapped pork tenderloin on a stick). They have a cooler with soda, water, and tea ($2). Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Place your order at the counter and then take a seat at one of the half dozen or so tables to wait for your number to be called.

Decided to try here for lunch after a morning of apple picking. Its located in a small strip plaza in Clifton Park that can be a pain to get in and out of with traffic and limited parking. Luckily service here is pretty quick depending on what you order. I ordered the taco special with slaw, pico, lime and sour cream on the side. They allowed me to split my meat choices so I chose pulled pork and brisket. The pork was moist and the brisket itself was great. As a taco they were pretty lousy but as my husband would say, that's what I get for ordering tacos at a BBQ joint. The pico wasn't fresh, the slaw didn't add much and there was no lime or sour cream to add the fresh tangy factor I was wanting. My husband's special was Poutine with meat choice. It was sliced and deep fried potatoe pieces like you would get for fries but thicker. It came covered in a delicious spicy gravy, white cheese sauce and topped with brisket. After one bite of the potato and gravy I knew I'd ordered wrong. This place is a friendly hole in the wall serving good BBQ. I can't wait to try more of their menu.

Came in around 12:30 small line. Customer service was very good. I got the brisket sandwich twister. That was pretty good. Also got the baked beans and the Mac n cheese for my sides. The beans were very good! I recommend trying them. The mac n cheese was good as well. This place is worth checking out.

I really wanted to like this place based on how many decent reviews there are between Yelp and Google, and how lovely the staff was when we went in on Saturday to pick up our order, but unfortunately this place has missed the mark on various levels for me. Let me start by saying the customer service is excellent. The counter staff was extremely friendly and had everything ready for us when we walked in for our pick up order. They made us feel like we were friends the second we came in, and I absolutely love that! As for the food, we were met with disappointment the second we opened the bag when we got home. We ordered brisket, ribs, pulled pork, mac & cheese, and baked beans. The brisket at $12 for a half pound was inedible; we had to throw it in the garbage because of how much fat was riddled throughout the two pieces we got. It left me wondering how the staff could even proudly serve this to anyone, even themselves. I picked the brisket up and tugged at both ends to try and get it to come apart, and the tug eventually turned into a hard pull because the fat wasn't only riddled so bad throughout the center, but it wasn't even rendered down properly. I know everyone is an expert in everything these days, so I'll spare you the lecture on how "I've had BBQ in so many places and in so many different states", but I'm fairly certain if the low n' slow process is completed accurately, there shouldn't be any need to tug and pull at the meat with such force to get it to come apart. This leads me to the ribs. The ribs were not as terrible as the brisket, but it seemed as if they were not uniformly cooked for some odd reason. One section was filled with fat and not trimmed, the other section was trimmed and as clean as a whistle. The section with the abundance of fat was hardly able to be pulled off the bone, like I'm talking needing to put my fingernails into it to get it to tear. The bark was also unremarkable and barely existent, except on the two ends of the rack. It was unfortunate because ordering ribs is my favorite at any BBQ joint, and the bark on both ribs and brisket is what I enjoy most. The pulled pork also had a large chunk of fat in it that was not rendered properly, as it was chewy and hard, not melt in your mouth and blending in with the other shredded meat for that delightful mouth feel it provides that I usually (very) much look forward to. On to the sides. The mac & cheese was a bit strange for my tastes, as I'm a traditionalist when it comes to BBQ, but overall good. The cheese sauce they use is extremely liquidy and nothing like I've had before down south or while living on the west coast with many southern transplants. The consistency is almost reminiscent of mac salad. It has this thicker, creamier component to it, which is obviously from the cheese blend, but it is still thin enough to represent a mayonnaise type texture, as if you're eating mac salad. It is different, but in a good way. The slight smokey flavor and jalapeno spice kick was a very nice addition. As for the baked beans, they were cooked well, had a nice bite, and overall good. I was also disappointed to learn while talking to the awesome staff members that they do not make any BBQ sauces in house. The 3 offerings they have available are from a major US foods manufacturer, which kinda sucks. I do think good BBQ speaks for itself and requires NO additional sauces, however, I am a lover of condiments and enjoy sampling things that are made in house to see what they're all about. Overall, the star of the show (the meat) was a disappointment. I know this place is fairly new and the Cap Region is not necessarily known for its BBQ pit masters, but I hope this place changes a few of their practices and gets better over time. The sides were good and the employees are doing an excellent job; I hope to be back sometime in the future for another go once the kinks are maybe worked out.

I couldn't tell at first because so much meat on the poutine! The fries underneath were amazing too! I got all my sauces separate so it didn't make everything soggy and it was perfect. Left over brisket made a good pizza too read more

Stay away from this place. Stopped in early on a Saturday afternoon they were literally sold out of absolutely everything I planned to order. Just beware... haven eating there in the past this is totally not indicative of the quality of the bbq. It's not great... unfortunately it's the only option for bbq in the area. If you can avoid it I would ... you can get way better bbq elsewhere and they probably have an adequate supply of menu items. Anyway, very disappointed! read more

Incredibly done brisket. Better than a lot of places I've been to in Austin/Dallas. The ribs were on-point. Their mac and cheese was done perfectly with a great smoky flavor. It was so cheap!! I patronized the this establishment July 7, 2023 at about 11:30 am. I ordered the Big Daddy because I wanted to try out as many meats and a couple of there sides. I chose sliced brisket, pulled pork, pork ends and links with mac and cheese and cole slaw. I also ordered the surf and turf tacos. Unfortunately I did not check the bag before leaving the establishment. When I arrived back home 30 minutes later. I was disappointed that I did not receive the pickles and cornbread, but I had already decided I would not try them again. The surf and turf tacos was delicious with the pickled onions. I thoroughly enjoyed them. I agree with the other reviews that mentions how fatty the brisket and pork ends were. Half of the meat was fat that I did not want to eat. The macaroni and is not impressive, with overcooked noodles and cheese sauce. However, I thought the cole slaw was tasty, but it wasn't cold. Service was basic, except their menu is not clear that when you choose your meats you are only allowed to choose different meats or it is considered a double order and there is a $4 upcharge. I did not stay to eat in, but just waiting for my food my tingle tangles told me that was not an establishment for people like me. I will not be visiting every again. read more

As a former BBQ restaurateur, I have to say this is by far the best BBQ I've had in this area. The beans are addictive, just enough sweetness and spicy notes. The sauces are well done, the raspberry chipotle is dynamite. Brisket was juicy, pulled pork was spot on, the ribs were extremely tender. The fries are awesome, they are chipped instead of straight cut which keeps them very crispy. All in all, absolutely worth it. Great job. Will be back. read more

I've been there twice now and I couldn't be happier. So far I've tried the brisket and pulled chicken and I have zero complaints. Both portions were very generous and the meat was delicious. The brisket was very tender and I could easily cut it with just a fork. The chicken is made with completely different seasonings (not just barbecue sauce). I can't quite put my finger on what it is, other than delicious. I've had the baked beans and Mac and Cheese and they were just as good. The baked beans have chunks of brisket in them, just in case you want just a little more meat with your order! Staff are very friendly and the prices are quite reasonable for what you get. read more

Pretty sure the ribs were baked. They had no texture, no bark, just very blah. Cole slaw and potato salad were good. The hot link was just ok. Mac and cheese must have the rub they use on everything cause it had a very sweet taste to it which was not pleasant. Better off making the trip to Dino in Troy or Pj's if you can stand the idiots radio show from the shack read more

I had my jack and Jill bridal shower catered from here last weekend and my guests, myself, and my fiancé haven't stopped talking about how awesome the food was! We ordered the brisket, pulled pork, ribs, Mac and cheese, spring salad, and corn bread. There was barely an ounce of food left for leftovers after the weekend was said and done. Got the pulled pork with baked beans. Baked beans were tasty. There is pork in with the baked beans. As for the pulled pork, it was great too. Good portion size. Note that Rollin' Smoke does not put sauce on any of their meats so during this take out required time be sure to ask for some sauce. read more

If you're looking for great BBQ, look no further! I originally had their food from a catered event and when I saw that they were opening up this restaurant I was super excited. I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and ordered "The Taylor", my boyfriend got the "Hot Mama". We really enjoyed the brisket and pulled chicken. They have a variety of BBQ sauces on the tables, all of which were tasty. We got 2 orders of wings to go, BBQ and Thai chili, also both delicious. The smoked Mac and cheese is literally my favorite in the area. There's just something about smoked/grilled flavors that I absolutely love, and this place does an amazing job! read more

First experienced the delicious offerings of Rollin' Smoke at a catered Christmas luncheon in 2018....and then again at their food truck at Tulip Fest in 2019. When I learned they were opening a brick and mortar restaurant, I was very excited!!! Today I decided to treat myself after a long day of doing nothing and stopped in and ordered "the Kody" (and chose the brisket and smoked mac and cheese). Upon entering, I was greeted immediately and enthusiastically by Rob (owner). The gentleman working the register promptly asked if I was there to pick up a called-in order, and when I indicated I wasn't, he quickly and happily took my order. My order was ready in just under a minute. Brisket: MOIST. TENDER. FANTASTIC FLAVOR. Smoked Mac and Cheese: EXTREMELY CHEESY. . Plentiful pieces of jalapeño. Macaroni cooked perfectly. Corn Bread: MOIST. Flavorful. Pickles: Great crunch. Brine is great; it's subtle, with wonderful flavor. The food is consistent in quality and is what will make you keep coming back!!! Their Salt and vinegar wings are the best wings I've ever had. I've been back quite a few times now to try new things and I've loved everything. They have an awesome horseradish potato salad, an side of baked beans loaded with brisket, and their nachos were so good I couldn't stop eating them. The pig on a sticks are phenomenal, but I really don't think you can find anything not great here. read more

We tried take out from the food truck at the Halfmoon farmers market and it was great! I had the pulled pork sandwich and my husband had the brisket. Both were still hot when we got home. They both came with a sort of spicy Mac and cheese and coleslaw. So delicious! read more

Went to this establishment on the date on receipt. The first time I was there asked for menu was ready to order. The staff there acted as if I didn't exist. I left I came back then I was able to place my order. After trying to have menu pricing honored in regards to an upcharge for double the meat and failed I left my order without this convenience. According to menu this option should come with 3 entrees. See pics. The Mac and cheese had a soapy taste under the Cajun type spice. The spice did not mask the soapy taste. The ribs were loaded with fat and definitely not fall off the bone. The brisket I ordered actually seemed to be pull pork. Brisket is a brownish type color it's beef and pork is whitesh in color. Remember pork the other white meat. I WILL NOT REFER TO ANYBODY NOR WILL I EVER GO BACK. " This is not my first visit here and the first time made me go back a second time. The second time the Mac and cheese was not anything to talk about like the first. And the third/fourth time (remember I had to go twice to have my order taken) NO GOOD." Second visit I even spoke highly to other customers in regards to Mac and cheese. NEVER AGAIN THE FOOD AND THE SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. THANKS FOR ONE HECK OF A BBQ. read more

We just ordered from them tonight for the first time. My wife and I split a half rack of ribs & baked beans, and while we weren't sure it would be enough, it was VERY filling. They make great ribs and baked beans - that's all I can say for now. We're looking forward to trying other menu items in the near future. We love barbecue. Noticed Rollin' Smoke while running errands and looked up the reviews, which were impressive. The reviews are well deserved! We had brisket, ribs, nachos with brisket and a pulled pork sandwich. Everyone loved it. The brisket is juicy and flavorful. The ribs were meaty and had nice bark. The pulled pork sandwich was large and tasty. The nachos, per my FoodNetwork watching middle child, 'chef's kiss'. We enjoyed the Mac and cheese, fries and pickles. Everyone at some point during the meal said you have to try this. The wings and the pig on a stick are on the list for the next visit. Thank you for a great meal!!! Good luck. just happened to be in the area. so glad we found this little spot. not a big restaurant. however definitely worth the stop. counter person was great offering her favorites as we had never been before. the brisket was done perfect. not over smoked but great flavor. ribs were also on point. most and tender. have to say though my favorite was the potatoe salad. totally home made. a hint of mustard and bacon. we will be back again. read more

Brisket was excellent, tender and tasty. Ribs were great too. They have a nice tangy flavorful Carolina style BBQ sauce that I would highly recommend, especially if you like that style to begin with. It's a great alternative to the plain old sweet BBQ sauce everybody uses. I'm not a big max&cheese guy, but Rollin' Smoke has a really great smoked version that is so good, you can't stop eating it. It's a must try to go along with your favorite BBQ meats. Really pleased with everything we tried. read more

Yow! First trip and it will not be the last! Delicious! My wife and I each got the Taylor. Two meats and one side. She got the brisket and pulled pork. I got brisket and chicken. For sauce, Carolina gold which was outrageously good. The meat was smoked to perfection and tender! The coleslaw was super! A delight. read more

Been here a few times, and every single time it's been incredible. Pulled pork and brisket are super moist and flavorful. Really let's the smoke shine. They have delicious sauces as well! Their Mac and cheese is Smokey with diced peppers and is amazing! I'm not usually a big fan of anything green, including peppers, but somehow it's one of the best bbq Mac and cheeses I've had. Make sure you get their pig on a stick, which is pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon and smoked to perfection! They have some of the meatiest but tender ribs! Really juicy and fall right off the bone. Super friendly service and amazing food, can't recommend them enough! read more

Having now already come here twice, my family is raving over this quick-serve BBQ joint. We decided that they have the best ribs that any of us have ever had! All the other meats are equally excellent. The sides are so good that even our vegetarian daughter was raving about the Mac and Cheese and cole slaw. We are so happy to welcome such a fantastic establishment to the area and will be back often. read more

Amazing food! We had them cater our Mother's Day doubleheader yesterday and holy cow the food was amazing! We had the brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken along with the mac & cheese, potato salad, & baked beans. Happy to say the portions were huge and there was a little something for everyone! With plenty to share,we each were able to take home some leftovers which are even better today! Would highly recommend for your next catered event! read more

Where do I begin! The brisket was melt in your mouth amazing! Cooked to perfection. Never had better in NY State. The smoked turkey was packed with smokey, tender, Juicy, goodness. The sides were the perfect complement to such a mouth watering entrée. Mac n Cheese had just the right amount of lil kick with the jalapeño pieces. The beans down home Texas good! With nice chucks of brisket to sweeten the deal. Coleslaw was lovely, had great balance. And the cornbread was better than my own..lol so moist. We tried two of the sauces.. their original was just the ticket for half of us and the others preferred the mango n jalapeño (I think) was a bit spicier, a definite hit with the fellas! My husband, son, family friend and I..unanimously agree this is the BEST place to go for smoked meats n sides. I must mention, the staff is so helpful. Very sweet, patient and accommodating. I ordered 3 of the rib specials last week (rack of ribs & a side of beans for $20) along with chopped brisket and the shredded chicken, mac & cheese and an extra side of beans. The ribs were delicious and very tender the brisket and chicken were just as tastey.... the beans were out of this world, not a drop left!! This entire meal was perfection!! Just used these guys to cater my daughter's graduation party. Everything was delicious! I had several guests tell me their ribs were the best they ever had and I have to personally agree. Mac N Cheese was also outstanding. Made with diced jalapeño but not overly hot. Just added enough heat which balanced the creaminess of the cheese perfectly. A variety of sauces came with the food to add to the pulled pork and pulled chicken but really didn't need the sauces at all. Next to my daughter, the food was the talk of the party. Can't recommend them enough. read more

I hired Gary Batto owner of Capital City BBQ Company, Clifton Park, NY for my son's post wedding…read morecelebration held at the Saratoga Spa State Park this June 2026. I had 200 plus people at my event. It was a complete disappointment and disaster. First, let's talk about the service...horrible. He came for five minutes and then left. He let his so called event planner and her helper handle everything. Huge mistake on his part! Mr Batto is very assuring and helpful prior to signing the contract. After signing, not so much. Make sure you read the whole contract before and when you receive the final contract because there were things he did not tell me that you find out two days prior to your event. When you give him your estimated count in the beginning and then give him your final count ten days prior, he does "volume pricing". Which was never mentioned in the five months of planning with him. It doesn't matter what your total final count is, he bases what you owe him on the percentage you gave him in the beginning. Total scam. In addition to the $33 plus for each guest, I paid for extra options for my event...$500 for two servers and $75 per hour for a bartender, in addition to $300 for ice (which there was not enough of). The servers were suppose to just replenish the food and do table cleanup. Instead they served the portions to my guests, which I specifically said I did not want, and they didn't clean up one table! I wanted my guests to take as much as they wanted...I guess he was afraid they would run out of food! Plus, this caused a long line which took two hours for my guests to be served! As for the food...very bland and tasteless. I ordered bbq chicken cooked right on the grill and served fresh to my guests, did not happen. No bbq sauce was used on the chicken. Dried out. I also ordered sausage and peppers (hardly any peppers and it was soaked in grease), mini hamburgers (awful and soaked in fat in a serving pan), pulled pork (which was just ok). Four sides which were bland and tasteless. In addition to the main food, we had discussed and Mr. Batto had suggested and approved, chicken tenders and hot dogs for the 28 kids I paid for to be on a separate table. Did not happen! He had no response as to why this Did not happen. We added our own pasta salad to the buffet table, that's all the kids liked! In addition to all the problems with the food and service, they ran out of napkins!! BBQ food with no napkins. Unacceptable! Mr. Batto told me, don't worry about a thing, we got you covered! You will be able to enjoy your party!! Didn't happen. Next, the bartender I paid for...no bartender! Instead, the two servers were also the bartender. But, while they went to the buffet table to serve my guests (again which I specifically said I did not want to happen) there was no bartender for two hours!! The bride took over and she was amazing!! Which was the best two hours because my guests didn't have to worry about giving a tip every time they requested a drink! I told them how to specifically set up the bar, and they completely ignored me and set it up how they wanted it In order to get more tips! We supplied all the alcohol and I did not need the bartender to open up my guests can of beer every time they requested one! So embarrassing!! I also was told that they would remove all the garbage...did not happen. They took four bags, we took 15! I could go on and on but I think you get the picture. After my event was over, I waited three days for Mr. Batto to contact me to return the linens I rented from him and to discuss my event. He never called so I called him. He was a completely different person than he was in the beginning Of when I hired him and his company. He disagreed with every complaint and had no answer for the ones he did agree with. He offered to compensate me for my complaints but it's been over a week and I haven't heard back from him and I don't think I will. During our over an hour conversation about everything that went wrong...he said to me "what do you want" and I said nothing...you can't give me back the day that was suppose to be so special and memorable. But he replied...I'll take care of you. Mr. Batto...I'm still waiting! I hope this helps the next person who is thinking about hiring Capital City BBQ Company for their event...DON'T!

One salad had salmon, one had Buffalo Chicken, and one had beets and goat cheese. Generous amounts of protein were served. Good brisket, probably the best in the area, all other barbecue is meh. Pulled pork, chicken, ribs, just not that good. Mac n cheese, which they seem to want to stuff everything with, is not very good either. They do have smoked wings but don't bother to brine them prior to smoking which kind of defeats the purpose of smoking a wing which is pretty darn pricey. I like to stop by and grab the brisket if I'm in the neighborhood but unfortunately this isn't the barbecue destination it could be. read more
