LongHorn is another wonderful part of chain of restaurants from the Darden group. For this reason, most of these reviews will remin the same. My wife and I had dinner with another couple last week at The LongHorn Steakhouse in albany. (We live in Long Island, NY.) This was my first visit to this location and I could not have enjoyed the evening more. Our friends told us that they get busy quickly in the evening so we arrived at 6:00PM to a very warm welcome and were seated immediately. I knew that this was gong to be a good experience just from the way it started. We had to be out by 7:30 for a meeting so time was crucial/ Our very efficient server, came right over to our table and take a drink orders. She then delivered the drinks with menus and bread and asked us if we had any questions. We just wanted to sit and speak for a few minutes and enjoy our surroundings. This restaurant is a very comfortable spot where noise was not a problem even as they were filled to capacity. We all started with salads which were cool, crisp and tasty. The dinners we order included these two items: Flo's Filet®. This iconic cut has been here since opening in 1981. A very tender center cut is coated with signature Grill Seasoning and seared to lock in the classic buttery flavor. - You knew everyone enjoyed this Just from the expressions on everyone's face. They had a wide variety of sides with the main meal and most of us went with a salad and potato or greens. Chop Steak*. A 10 oz. of fresh ground beef loaded with roasted mushrooms and caramelized onions, smothered with savory garlic herb sauce. - This was my selection. I love a good chop steak and find fewer and fewer restaurants offering it. I usually have to go with a large hamburger. This was a welcome choice and really [really] good. Overall, we were all VERY HAPPY to have come here and we all truly enjoyed ourselves. We look forward to visiting a LongHorn not far from where we live. On a personal note... I DO NOT understand the one star reviews. These are not regular Yelp users as shown by the fact that they have no friends, no pictures and either one or two reviews. DO NOT pay attention to them. My friend and I went in there for an evening. We had an appetizer and then ordered our main dishes. I ordered one of my sides was broccoli which was terrific and I ordered baked potato. I had to send it back because it was cold came back again and it was still cold, but I didn't say anything till the end of the meal and I took it to go warm it up tomorrow in the microwave. Boyfriend and I are here on Easter Sunday around 1pm. Got there as it was filling up and got very busy after that. Were seated right away. Been here numerous times. Got our non-alcoholic drinks and ordered. All the food came out at once. Bread, salads, onion appetizer, and 2 ribeye dinners. As always, very consistent. Ribeye was cooked perfectly mid rare, lightly seasoned as requested. Other ribeye was more on rare side, but boyfriend didn't mind. Last nite, I ordered a rib eye medium rare for eat in dinner. When I started to eat it, it tasted like a spoiled meat that have been sitting out for weeks. I told my waiter about it. I dined there on Sunday December 7 25. I was a little bit nervous because I had read some of the earlier reviews that actually were very wrong. My friend and I had an excellent that's Capital. Excellent experience. The service was by far the best and friendly and quick. We both ordered steak I ordered the New York strip medium rare came with a wonderful sweet potato and a wonderful Caesar salad. The steak itself was so good and cooked perfectly. My drink was a sangria and it was just like being in Madrid, Spain like I was in May 2025. My friend ordered the small fillet With the rice pilaf and a regular salad. She was very satisfied and ate the whole steak they cooked it perfectly medium. We did not have dessert because our meals were perfect size. We also had a nice loaf of bread added, and it was very good. Price was excellent about $67 without tip. We sat in a nice booth and totally enjoyed ourselves. We've wanted to visit a Longhorn now for quite some time, so we decided today to stop in for lunch on our way through Albany. We were seated right away and our waitress was by quickly to take our drink orders. I had to ask for lunch menus though, which I thought was odd for lunch time. When she delivered them, they were filthy (covered in food). We were brought out a loaf of their complimentary bread, which was actually much better than it appeared it would taste. While sitting waiting for our food, we were taking in the appearance of the restaurant. The vibe was fun, but upon further inspection - my husband pointed out the ceilings. To say we were grossed out is an understatement. They appear to have not been cleaned in quite some time. There was also cobwebs on the decor saddle. The food wasn't "bad", but it also wasn't anything to rave about. I ordered the lunch size steak salad with the grilled corn as my side. For $10.99 it was basically a side salad with a few pieces of steak on top. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and had a nice crust. The corn was actually pretty good as well, sweet, cooked well with a little char and finished with a tasty crema. My husband ordered the ribeye w/ grilled onions and a loaded baked potato, along with an order of their Brussels sprouts. His steak was cooked well and was decently flavored. The grilled onions, which were served in a boat on the side - not on top as expected - were a great addition. The baked potato was - a baked potato. I had high hopes for the Brussels sprouts, but was very disappointed - the pieces were so large, not cooked through & just overall not appetizing. I usually enjoy this place but tonight the experience went sideways rather quickly. We were on a waitlist and were told that our wait would be 25-30 minutes. We waited about an hour. Then we got seated and placed at a table that was very unstable. We could forsee that there would most likely be a problem once we were served our meal and had to cut the meat. We informed the hostess about the table issue and were told a manager would come and address the issue. Revealed and waited but no manager ever came. We mentioned it to the waiter who got on his hands and knees under the table and then said unfortunately there was nothing he could do. I am presently still at the table and serious considering paying for our sodas and walking out. We have been sitting at the table 45 mins now and no bread has been brought out and nobody has come to ask if our drinks need to be refilled. Not a good experience at all. I doubt I will be back. It came swimming in extremely salty gravy with a few random mushrooms. I couldn't enjoy the tender meat because the gravy was sooo salty. Like an entire package of Lipton's Onion soup mix salty!! I got mashed potatoes and salad. The mashed tasted like a mix and the salad came with silver bag croutons and a ton of over strong vinaigrette. It was called balsamic but there was nary red vinegar in sight!! My mom's sweet potato had as she said "a half a cup of brown sugar on it." and very little sweet potato. My son's burger was average in his words but kept falling apart. It came with lukewarm fries. The complimentary bread might have come from a cheap supermarket. With cafeteria style butter. I've heard that the steak is just as salty. On the good side, the staff was very friendly from the host to the waiter. That's the norm a lot of places, but also disappointing because there was no wait that night and we were just stuck in the lobby waiting for our friend. We had originally gone to the Outback Steakhouse across the street, were seated, but decided (for a few reasons) to leave and head across the street to the LongHorn Steakhouse! YEE HAW! There was a wait, hostess took our name and texted us when ready. We waited outside in the corral. (About 25 min). Our waitress was upbeat, fast and professional. There were some issues with the beer availability which she sorted quickly. Us two adults got a filet and a t-bone. Each cooked perfectly, as were the sides (broccoli and mashed potatoes). The side salad was also fantastic. Our kid got the kid sirloin and fries...first time he's ever eaten a whole steak! We did start with the "spicy chicken bites" and although not terrible, I'd probably try something different next time. And finally... are you ready? For dessert we got and shared the STAMPEDE. Two delicious slices of chocolate mousse cake with whipped cream and fudge. With a couple scoops of ice cream. Excellent. Summary: First time Longhorners with no real expectations. If this business already has your credit card information captured with the online system and then sneak additional charges on your credit card without your permission or knowledge. I reported that manager for fraud. What food I left with was a chicken sandwich that wasn't fully cooked in the middle and one small scoop of mash potatoes. My husband and I dined at LongHorn steakhouse in Colonie on Wednesday, April 30th. It was our first time at this restaurant. We started with the stuffed mushrooms. They were plump and packed with flavor. My husband dined on the 20oz rib eye with mashed potatoes and the lobster chowder. I dined on the rack of lamb with mashed potatoes and spinach. We came for lunch at 2:00. The lunch menu was full of variety and good choices. The overall highlight of our experience was the steaks we ordered which were cooked to perfection (Medium) and very tender. The Rib Eye was more flavorful than the Strip although both were tender. The seasoning on the ribeye was more pleasing and complemented the steak well. From the beginning-- The typical chain restaurant bread loaf was whole grain here instead of an insipid white loaf; the whipped butter was nice. Soups: (2 stars) French Onion had an obscene amount of quality cheese on top based on my preference. I removed a lot. The broth was dark but very salty as often is the case with mediocre French Onion. There could/should have been more pieces of onion. Shrimp and Lobster Chowder had good flavor but there was very little seafood in it. What there was was cut into tiny pieces. Blah. Salty. Why is it that restaurants, esp. chain ones, use way too much salt? Steaks were good as noted above (5 stars). I had fresh asparagus with mine. It was a little over cooked but good. There was a small up charge. George's mashed potatoes were very good. He had a Sam Adams seasonal draft with his meal which went down nicely. No dessert tempted us. The service was great (efficient, helpful, friendly) until it can time to receive our bill. We waited 15 minutes. It was 3:00. It could have been that our nice server was in charge of too many tables and doing kitchen tasks. We sat in a booth, and it was quiet there and comfortable. The layout of the attractive restaurant is good for Covid concerns: it is divided down the middle into two sides. The bar is on at one end of the restaurant. My husband's steak came out missing the sides. We waiting another 10 min. for my meal to come back out. While the steak was now warm (not hot) my sides were now cold. My steak was so salty I was not able to eat it. Meanwhile, my husband is still waiting for his sides. At this point we ask to speak to a manager. The sides were onions and mushrooms for his steak so not needed once the steak has been eaten. Another 5 min and the manager appears and does not apologize or attempt to make the order right except to ask if I want to keep my meal since I have stopped eating (I'm not interested in eating a cold meal). The finale comes with the check. There is an extra charge for the Mac n cheese which should be an included side. No compensation for the 2 1/2 hour wait during which my husband and I enjoyed a glass of wine, a beer and a crust of bread for $90. Really? Quality control is completely absent! read more

We decided on Longhorn steakhouse on Wolf Rd in Albany, upon arriving, there was No waiting, seating was immediate, I requested specific seating, Done! Our waiter came immediately with the sweetest smile, took our appetizer order, came right back with the order, he was very attentive and I realize a lot of times the staff in different restaurants are nice because they want a tip, But, I Never got that feeling from our waiter! He had the Sweetest personality and I even asked my husband do you think his personality is Real and I got the loudest Yes! The Only thing I'm angry about is, I did not ask him his name. The restaurant was Clean, well stocked, the bathroom was immaculate. If our waiter ever saw this, I'm sorry I didn't ask your name but You are so sweet and I tried to show how I appreciated you! You were very petite, and I believe gay, bald, with the cutest ears, great sense of humor, and a Wish to hear some "Beyonce" sometimes, lol.
