If you're like me and can't live without a variety of Asian goodies like tea and crackers, your jaw is bound to drop at the sights as you walk in. Sure, the aisles are only wide enough for one person to walk through straight on, but that's a small concession for what's on offer here. Their produce section is surprisingly extensive, there's even a seafood section, and it looks like they've finally revamped the hot food next to the front entrance. The staff at checkout here are always quick and efficient, and I'm grateful they're such a decent Asian supermarket in the Capital District to complement the wonderful Kim's and Jang Tuh. They have their own parking lot and we have come close to not finding a parking space here, but there's a constant flow of people coming and going, so we've never actually not found parking.

The overall cleanliness of the store also raises some serious concern! It's really disappointing because a good Asian grocery store is hard to find in the area. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and improves their quality control and sanitation standards. Customers deserve better, especially when it comes to food safety.

The prices for produce are high and the organization of the aisles baffles me. This time I had a plan: a short list of specific needs from the Asian Market on Central which I hoped I could find here instead. But daikon was too expensive, a tub of peeled garlic was not in sight and I did not have the patience to search for wheat starch or Pantai brand fish sauce. All that said, it's still a four star experience. First for the experience of seeing many Muslim families shopping together on a Friday, and particularly the happy customers waiting at the busy halal butcher when their orders are delivered. Second for the depth of product which challenges the casual shopper but lets me know this would be a good source for a very specific product, like an obscure fruit or vegetable or one of the dozens of middle eastern flatbreads on offer. The labneh section alone deserves an award for brand diversity. Like it or not, I know I'll be back and am glad we have Farmer's Indian Market in our community.

What can I say about this place? A LOT. But in the interest of not completely filling up Yelp's…read moredatabase, I'll keep it brief. The first thing that you notice when you walk into Garofalo's is how great it smells: it's like getting hit in the face with a cinder block of glorious fucking awesomeness. It smells THAT good. I love it. I really don't think there's a single thing here that isn't fantastic. I'm especially in love with their smoked ribs. The stuffed pork chops are awesome. They make all sorts of phenomenal sausages. They also sell a variety of other things: various cheeses, meats, spices, canned tomatoes, olive oil and more. The staff at Garofalo's are great as well. They're very friendly. This place is obviously in the best hands. If you're not familiar with the area, it might be a little tricky to find because it's on a weird little road. There really isn't any parking (I normally walk here from my Schenectady office anyway), so the best place is to just park in the lot around the bend behind Perreca's and Cornell's. Garofalo's is well within walking distance from there. Garofalo's accepts credit cards, but there's a minimum amount (which is $15 if I recall correctly). Be warned: If you're going there today for the smoked ribs, you're SOL. I'm pretty sure I bought them out for the day. That's how I roll.

It's one of the businesses on that stretch of Broadway to endure while others have changed hands. So the other day, I decided to take a peek inside and find out what's for lunch. Chicken Vindaloo. There's dry goods and ready-made foods for sale on the shelves as well as brightly hand-painted gifts such as food storage containers and kitchen towels.I bought both as gifts for friends. When I first discovered Kim's, comparison to Jang Teo was inevitable and, as a result, I quickly decided I preferred Jang Teo. Some years later, I revisited Kim's to realise that their pricing for the most part is comparable to Jang Teo, and they tend to stock some unusual items that are hit and miss. Take the frozen bibim kit recent for, for example. I wasn't interested especially with the $5.99 price tag, but I picked it up after seeing it discounted to $3.99 albeit with reservations. It turns out I had reasons to be hesitant. The rice is too sticky for bibim and there's not nearly enough toppings. On the other hand, the frozen kimbap rolls still impress me and are clearly a hit. All in all, I'm appreciative that they're with us and I can source goodies without needing to travel hundreds of miles. Long live Kim's.

The wife and I kinda stumbled upon Muju while in the area. We were heading somewhere else to eat, which happened to be closed, and we came upon Muju around the corner, saw the good reviews, and decided to give it a try. And we were glad we did. It's definitely an interesting place - you can order food at the front counter, there are tables to sit and eat, but then also an international grocery store in the middle of the building. We both ordered a tea, some Nepali spicy chicken chow mein, and an order of fried pork momo, which are their version of gyoza, or dumplings. Our food was delicious. The spicy chow mein definitely had a kick to it, but was very good. Dumplings are one of my absolute favorite foods, I usually prefer the thinner wrappers over the thicker ones - there were the thicker ones, but they were cooked so perfectly it didn't matter.
