I've been going to Roma Salon for five years and always appreciate the consistently good service and friendly staff. It's clear they care about their clients, and I've had many great experiences here over the years. The only thing I wish was a bit more consistent is the eyebrow threading experience. Some professionals go the extra mile--cleaning up the area, massaging the brows afterward, and making sure everything looks perfect. Others, unfortunately, just do the basics and hand you a tissue to wipe away the leftover hairs. A little more consistency across the team would really elevate the experience, but overall, it's a place I continue to return to and recommend. read more

I was charged $90 for a substandard facial (they used a product from India). The salon only had me as the client at the time of service and yet it was so noisy. They had a non stop video playing on the TV screen which was loud enough, and to add to that the three women at the counter were chatting loudly. Could not rest a single minute during my facial. Honestly, don't come here if you have your wedding or major event. I got my body wax and it was fine, but I specifically told them it was my wedding to make sure they understood how important it was for everything to be perfectly done. When it came to my eyebrows, the woman ruined them horribly and made them half the size they normally are and even a patch of hair from the arch was missing. Amazing experience. I made an appointment the day of and they were accommodating and so nice. Rashmi did my cut, blow dry, eyebrows and upper lip. Oh man, I am so disappointed. I came here to get my eyebrows done last minute since my regular eyebrow lady was away and this place was open. The place is clean and they do get a lot of customers. I think depending on who does your eyebrows makes a difference. My eyebrows didn't need much doing. They literally needed like 10 hairs removed. I told the lady ahead of time. She said okay. What I got??? Thiiiiiiin thiiiiiin eyebrows!!! Who does that? And she totally changed the shape of my brows!! My eyebrows honestly looked better before I went in. Zero star!! My experience today : I went for microdermabrasionwhich was one hour total time included massage , scrubbing and mask in July 2019 and Amita charged me 150$ for it. I was satisfied with the service but thought it was little expensive so I started going to innovate salon for microdermabrasion. Today I saw on groupon that they have a deal "one microdermabrasion for $59" which is originally 150. So I went today. Service was bad today. Long wait in the room. Which is fine but not when they just talking outside. Got done with facial later. When I got out and I showed Amita Groupon she said I can't use it because that Groupon is good for only microdermabrasion which is usually 65$. Why they advertise wrong on Groupon that it's 150 service which now discounted to 59$. Later she tell me to pay 150$ for the service even after I paid to Groupon. She refused to understand that they hAve to provide same cost service mention in advertisement. Then she made me call owner Roma. She first pick up the phone And once I told her story she hung up on me. I called 18 times but no answer. I paid 150$ for the service as I didn't have time to argue again with the employee/manager Amita. I have been going to Roma beauty salon for years since they first started in Edison and i remember I had to find parking across the street. My go to location is in south Plainfield. I always get my eyebrows lip and sideburns done and have no complaints about them. However, the past few times I been going, the person who does my eyebrows always talks while she does my eyebrows. They usually talk while threading my eyebrows to other employees and i don't even know how that's possible. I think it's very gross so unprofessional. Went here about a year ago and still have not recovered from the damage they did to my hair. I originally spotted this location from Groupon, but the lady told me the coupon was not able to be used for my hair. I still made the appointment for highlights. I arrived at my appointment a few minutes before the appointment time and still had to wait for someone to look at my hair. The lady we were waiting for finally arrived about half hour later and went through my hair and told me what the salon can do for me. She was kind, went through the process with me, and told me the estimate. Then she instructed another lady on what to do to my hair. After that, she was gone. The lady who was assigned to do my hair seemed like she did not know what she was doing... but I was trying to trust the process. I also presented them a picture, told me she can do it, and my hair came out totally different. She also cut my hair due to my split ends but she cut so much of it... I instantly wanted to cry. The highlights came out horribly. In the end, she curled my hair to hide how horrible the ends came out. I had streaks of red and yellow. Granted, I went in with brassy hair, but I was not expecting to come out with the about the same outcome. Another lady that I also spoke while I was waiting saw me at the front desk and I could tell by her face that she knew they messed my hair up and she knew it did not come out the way I wanted it to. I was embarrased. I went in with medium to long hair, and left the salon with shoulder length hair. Despite all that, I gave the lady who did my hair a generous tip and she was still a little standoffish.. she said "thank you" with no smile or anything...She walked away. Here I am a year later. They have ruined my experience with salons. My hair has been slowly growing. I am sure they are good people, but they need more experienced people doing hair. If you love your hair, make sure you do your research and find the right place. What a bad haircut. I've come here every so often for eyebrows and while waiting, there was a steady stream of customers for eyebrows. I figured I'd get a haircut here and... NEVER again. The hair dresser must have incorrectly cut a piece too short and either never realized or never told me. That makes for a bad or dishonest hair dresser, both of which DON'T work for me. Still charged me the full price!!! And since it was in the very back I hadn't realized at the time. Got home, realized the issue later that day, and took the pic. Was taking a trip to dollar tree when i saw a sign outside that said $4 eyebrow threading and that had me hooked. I never had my eyebrows threaded before so i was very excited. When entering, the lady at the front desk looked really mean, grumpy, and aggravated. If your going to look like that and be the first person a customer encounters, then rethink your job. Ruined my hair! I went in weeks earlier to ask about the style I wanted (silver platinum ombré) I asked how long, what I needed to bring with me, and general process. They took a picture and talked to the hairstylist and I was told I didn't need to bring anything, that they had the silver platinum and they could do it in two hours. I showed up on day off and they forgot I had an appointment and there was not stylist there. It took a whole day and lots of calls back and forth to finally get another appointment. When I finally did get an appointment, another stylist called me at night to tell me it would take longer than two hours (I had already put in my request to take off for two hours at work for the salon down the street) and that I had to go to a different salon twenty minutes away. She said to come early and it would take 2.5 hours. I came early and stood in the cold for 20 minutes. Then they showed me only blond colors. When I said I didn't want blond and showed the picture once again I was told they have that color it just looks different in the light of the camera but it would come out ashy like I wanted. Then she asked me which color I wanted and wanted me to point to a color on the pallet. I should have left then. I showed her the picture and said silver again and said not blond. I said several times I want ombré silver platinum. What I got was two tone; black on top and a straight line and yellow/blond on the bottom. I was turned away from the mirror when they finished so I could be surprised (another red flag)! I'm trying to argue with them that this straight line isn't ombré and the color is blond and yellow not silver platinum. The manager won't even call me back. Now I have to spend over fife hundred dollars for someone else to try to fix this mess they left on my head. read more

I was hesitate to go here after all those mixed reviews on yelp. I decided to go since it was right next to the dollar store where I was shopping. I went in and there was no one. Asked for eyebrow thread, told the lady what I wanted, "not too thin and a small arch" after 2 minutes, it was done. Probably the fastest threading I've experience. I was scared to look but when I did, my eyebrows were decent. I have to admit, there was a slight unevenness with my right and left brows (the arch was uneven) but it didn't bother me much since it was so slight. I agree that I was scared because the lady doing my brow was talking to her other friend and other threading would even out my head before threading but they didn't and I accidentally moved. read more

I went there yesterday with my sister for a haircut. We were told upfront the charges would be $65 and $75 respectively before they could begin the service. This was just to wash and cut your hair. My service was okay, though I felt she only washed my hair for 2 minutes. But the person that was supposed to be providing the haircut service to my sister was rude and unprofessional at all levels. She not only stopped washing my sister's hair, but left her at the hair wash section and went to attend to other customers that were coming in for eyebrow threading. I got my hair cut and was finished and my sister was still sitting there with her hair drenched. No communication whatsoever. No apologies. I got my sister and we paid and told the girl that did my hair that we are leaving and what happened. She was nice to ask to do my sister's hair, but the person that was supposed to be taking care of my sister lacked professionalism. Will I come back? No. Will I recommend this salon? One woman does a good job at eyebrows but don't let them cut your hair! I told them I wanted long layers and the cut half my hair off! I didn't make a scene but I was very upset so decided to write a review instead. I will never get my hair done at this place again. I left with my hair very uneven with choppy layers. My hair is very thick so it looked horrible.By the way I didn't tell anyone that I know I got a haircut because I was so embarrassed by the way it looked. Everyone that knows me saw it though and was brutally honest saying it looked terrible! $4 for eyebrow thredding!! There's no better deal than that! If you go to some other places, you usually pay $7 or $8, and if you get them done at the mall, they can be as much as $10 or $12! The results vary from good to perfect, depending on which person you get to do them (I don't know them by name yet.) As most of us know, thredding is very painful (even more so than waxing, in my opinion), but the results last a good couple of weeks, are better and more precise, and the redness goes away quicker than waxing. This place accepts credit cards, but charges a dollar extra to do so, since the service is only $4. It's just better to bring cash, unless you don't mind the extra fee. And if the lady does a great job, tip her! They always appreciate it. read more

My eyebrows were uneven and my wax job was very painful for days after because the wax burned my skin. They also reuse the same wax strip over and over again, so it's very unclean. Been getting my eyebrows threaded for over 3 years here. Threading is so much more sanitary then waxing. Some places double dip into the wax causing breakout and even skin infections. Roma salon is great. Ask for Alpa! :) read more
