I love NuSalon... Everyone who work here is so friendly and interactive. They are very nice and understanding. My Mom and Sis-in-Law are clients here, whenever they visit us. My other friends who went to this place on my recommendation are happy clients too. About 3 years ago, my hair was really really really bad. Ling has got magic in her hands. My hair is very beautiful now and I always get compliments for it. I feel good and beautiful at the end of every session. I love it when Vinny styles my hair. He gives me useful tips too. The staff is very patient and listens to what you want. That is something I didn't see in other salons that I went. I get my hair & nails done and also waxing. I feel really comfortable to go to this place. My visits to NuSalon are like therapy. Every time I go here, I leave as a happy person - both inside and outside. I have been getting my hair cut, trimmed etc by Donna since I was a little girl. Now 30years old and at nusalon . I have enjoyed coming here, it was overpriced at $30 a haircut (never blow dry) but I paid that to stay with Donna. I understand the pandemic but the principle is that they didn't tell me or any other customer that they were no longer offering the $30 haircut, you must get your hair blow dried or they will still charge you the $50 for it. To make matters worst, they aren't even allowed to blow dry at the moment and they are still charging people that. I understand businesses are hurting but a $50 haircut that consisted of a few inches off seems gouging Update: since reading the owners response to my honest review I have decided to lower my star rating. Very unprofessional, name calls and accused me of stealing when her employee was the one who was charging me the $30 price for 6 years and I had no idea this wasn't even the price. But yes a price increase from 30 to 55 is gouging, almost a 100 percent increase. My mother had an appointment before me and during her appointment Donna whispered in her ear about the price increase. what is the secret though??!!! My mom asked if she told me and she said no and that's why my mother paid because she knew I would be upset by this, but it's the point that it was never mentioned and that if it was Atleast I'd have the opportunity to search out other salons. nuSalon knows how to make you feel good and make you look even better! I always get my hair and my nails done here. However, they do everything in addition to hair and nails. They have waxing, make-up, eye lash perming, and more. They are always exceeding my expectations even though I tend to have complicated and detailed requests. I've been going here for several years and the salon has always been friendly and professional. Clean, well kept. My old stylist left the salon because she moved and I went to Vinny today. All I can say is no one will EVER touch my hair again except for him. He did an incredible job! He listened to me! Imagine that, and he had a disaster to clean up after another stylist ruined it (not from Nu salon). I'm very happy with my blunt cut shoulder length hair. I absolutely love it! I finally feel good about myself again. Thank you Vinny for being the only stylist who ever listened to a client. Top notch communication and super friendly. Will continue going to Nu Salon for all my hair and nail needs. I definitely recommend this salon. Also ease of scheduling an appointment was fantastic. Very happy customer. Update about two weeks ago Vinny colored and then glossed my hair the most amazing shiny dark brown I've ever seen. It looks and feels incredible. I'm so happy with Vinny! I discovered this salon through yelp a couple of weeks ago because I was looking for a nearby place that does massages. It was my sister-in-law's bday and, as a gift, my brother wanted to treat her to a relaxing massage. they were from out of town so we really were looking for a place that would be avail that day. when I called up Nu Salon, they were accommodating and we got to come in within the hour for the appt. I went with my sis-in-law to the salon because I wanted to check it out. my first impression is that it was beautiful inside (you can refer to my 1st check-in). the decor was light and airy. they had a cute chandelier at the receptionist station and lots of modern furniture. the floors were clean and all the different stations looked neat and orderly. the salon was well ventilated because I really wasn't overwhelmed by any smells from acetone or hair dye or anything like that. we were greeted by the friendly receptionist and she offered us a beverage. this directed my eye to their beverage snack station and it was cute. they have coffee tea and water and some baked goods and candy. I don't think I've ever been to a salon that offered that. we didnt have to wait too long before my sister was called in for her appt. she went in for an hour session for a deep tissue massage. she told me it was so relaxing and therapeutic. she had some knots in her back area from carrying her 20 month old son. The masseuse was able to relieve those areas in her back. she did recommend that I should try them out. I finally went there today to check out their services. i wanted to get a pedicure, eyebrow and lip waxing and was able to get that done as a walk-in. again, I was offered a beverage after I was greeted by the receptionist. she remembered me from my last visit. I had their chamomile tea and I only waited a couple of minutes before getting called over to the pedicure area. their polishes were all organized and I was able to pick one out right away. the massage chair was super comfortable and relaxing. the pedicure service was great. the stylist did a great job removing all the dead skin . my feet are soft and pretty again. the pedicure included a relaxing lotion massage as well. after the pedicure was the waxing service for my eyebrows and lips. I think they did a great job as well. the room was neat and private. Overall, I had a great experience at Nu salon. everyone was so friendly and attentive. I learned that they are going to expand and offer facials in the near future. I'm pretty excited about that. I'm love facials and I usually would have to go to a place in south river to get one done. I gotta say that I've lived in this town for a very long time (over 30 yrs) and I never really committed to going to a local salon. I usually go to random nail salons for pedicures and waxing. I'm pretty stoked about coming back here in the future for more services. i definitely want to book a massage appt. one of the other customers had one today and i asked about her experience. she couldn't stop raving about Mary Ann and her magic hands! I am also thinking about getting my hair done there too, i usually go to a place out of town but i am willing to try out nu salon. for all you other YELPers out there, I just want to let you know that this is a legitimate review. I've been on yelp since 2011. I've never met the folks at Nu salon before, but I gotta say that they're a great crew and I'm looking forward to coming back there. just beware of other supposed reviews out there that are off-key. Take a look at their activity on yelp and you'll see that they're not legit and probably only created an acct recently to sabotage this place. Very helpful & customer oriented, I called short notice for a same day appointment.....got in within 30 minutes! Front desk rep Offered tea, coffee & little desserts. Also I was greeted in a timely manner by Vinnie & she pampered me while giving me a manicure & pedicure. My name is Brittany, I am a Customer of NuSalon and YES I made an account today, 05/14/2014. I live in town and have a crazy nursing school schedule, my daughter 8, is a handful and this place is nothing but accommodating to our every need. They make you feel like family, they take pride in keeping the place clean and orderly. As a medical professional it is key as I learn of microbiology and then some - that anything and everything is clean beyond 100%!!! They amaze me with their cleaniness. This place takes pride in their work and business in whole. I can never find anyone to cut my kids hair right, yet alone take a hyper ADHD child and engage her to be still for more than 5 minutes. They're technique? I cannot even tell you but it means a lot their practiced patience! My daughter is also a state champion in gymnastics and the secretary Shira took the time out of her busy schedule to call and congratulate her a few days ago. It made my daughter feel like a million bucks! The cut, the environment, the customer service we all deserve & needs to feel important/beautiful can be found here. I believe the most difficult cases can have a positive experience and even the worst attitudes will come out smiling. I believe the negative review is libel slander and you all just need to visit NuSalon to appreciate the environment. The best critic is you! Not someone else who doesn't have the foggiest idea of what they are talking about. I highly suggest even if you don't have an appt go visit the girls whom are always welcoming warm and friendly. The positives: The front desk staff are very friendly and polite. They do greet you with a smile and do offer a drink, a magazine, etc. They are very attentive in that regard and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The neutral/positive: I cannot comment on the mani/pedi aspects because I have never had one at NuSalon. However, I have seen their work when walking past other clients, and it does look good. The negatives: Do NOT go here for a color or cut. While the stylists are lovely people, I question their competency. I have given them ample opportunity to get it right, thinking perhaps a different stylist will do better, but after today's experience, I have learned the hard way - just stay away...color is never right (too dark or brassy), cut is off and even when "corrected" it is still choppy. Warning - certainly do not go there for a color if you have plans to go out afterward. Unless you want to show up looking like you just swept a chimney. My anniversary is tonight and my husband has surprised me with dinner reservations. Now to figure out how to get this color off my face and figure out how to hide the hole in the back. read more

New to the area and have struggled to find a good nail salon. This place is so much more than just the nail places that rush you in and out. They take their time to ensure you get your money's worth and seem genuinely interested in you. I like that they are well established in the local community and have a strong local clientele. Though the prices are a bit steeper than your average mani/pedi, the quality is really top notch. Will definitely be coming back to try coloring services also. This salon provides great service and attention to the customer for sure. There's no way I'd spend 4-5 hours in any salon if it wasn't clean and a friendly atmosphere too. I was so lucky last week that somebody canceled at the last minute so the owner Ling didn't just touch up my color but she now had time for highlights, glossing, a cut and a Japanese Keratin straightening treatment (which takes hours but lasts 6 months). I walked out straighter & blonder & feeling great about myself, the salon and the people including Susanne at the front desk. My first experience at this salon was to correct a bad cut I had gotten. I actually yelped this salon for reviews after my last experience I wanted to make sure I found the right stylist. I did! Vinny was wonderful! I told him about my last cut- he said I see it. Let me do my thing you won't be sorry. After almost 2 hours I walked out with bouncing and behaving hair! My hair is naturally curly- so to find someone who knows how to cut curly hair is a blessing! The salon has many stylists and is quite large. One thing I was surprised about was that you could not put a tip on your debit/credit card. I had to go to an ATM to get cash and go back. So if you do go make sure you bring cash! Ok so I've wanted to write a review for quite some time about my experience, I walked in with a picture of what I wanted and asked , I want someone that could do this for me, one of the stylists looked at the picture and referred me to another stylist . As the stylist worked with me , as you notice I will not mention any names, told me stories and we laughed throughout i was really enjoying our conversation.. but then I noticed they were talking crap about people that were getting their hair done as well as some of the other stylists which I didn't like .. fast forward, my hair is colored and cut and we're all done ... the color was nice , the cut was nothing like the picture AT ALL!!!And as I'm getting ready to get up and leave, the attitude completely changed , was not the nice person as they were while doing my hair ...and as i went back to hand them my tip and asked a question about the color and when i should come back to retouch , they were very cold , it was the weirdest thing , and for that I will not be going back . read more

I went here to get a french mani/pedi and massage. The staff were very friendly, but I thought my mani/pedi looked subpar and wasn't that happy with it. The massage was good but I scheduled for a deep tissue massage, and felt that the pressure was more of a Swedish massage. The massage room was also so tiny that the masseuse had to keep moving my table to get all the way around. Also, since the walls didn't go all the way to the top, she had to run a white noise machine to drown out the noise in the salon (which did work). If I had to do it again, I would go somewhere else. read more
