Discovering Dr. Franzia has been the best gift a first time parent could ever ask for! As first timers we didn't know what to look for in a pediatrician. After a horrible first 6 months with a different doctor, my mom (who goes to the partner office, Face Forward Medical Spa) suggested we go meet with Dr. Franzia--and 1 1/2 years later we adore her and continue to recommend Dr. Franzia to all of our friends. There are a million reasons why she is amazing but here are three you should know: 1. Her office is like sophisticated children's museum: Stepping off the elevator you are immersed into a gorgeous and whimsical space, purposefully designed to calm and inspire children. Each room features an imaginative themed environment, layered with stimulating activities. As designer of children environments myself, I can't help but appreciate every little detail and thought included in the space. 2. She will know YOU: Over the past year and a half, we have developed a relationship with Dr. Franzia. She knows our names, knows our history, I can call her (and only her - not a call service) on her cell phone at ANY TIME and she will answer on the 2nd ring (even at 2 am!). She will know who I am, know our son, and is ready and able to have a discussion with proactive steps. She is also a working mom and empathizes with our crazy life and all the nuttiness that comes with the role. 3. She is always going above and beyond: It amazes me how she puts her patients and their families first. I never thought this still existed today where you interact with only one doctor. She is the real deal! She is a true problem solver and has personally developed a team of doctors to help us figure out our son's ear issues. She made phone calls to specialty doctors at Lurie Children's Hospital and got us an appointment within 2 days, (when there was a 3 month waiting list) - and she even scheduled a follow-up in person meeting with her and the specialist so they could collaborate and figure out the best care solution for us. She is patient, listens, and spends at least 20 minutes with us at each appointment addressing anything I could ever think of. She will always squeeze you in on the same day if needed! She even calls and follows up with me after visits, to make sure things are going well. We can't say enough amazing things about Dr. Franzia and don't know where we would be without her today. read more

A TRUE DOCTOR. not a robot. In a world where many doctors are guided by insurance policies, so called evidence based practice, and their own ego, Dr. Franzia is guided by her real medical knowledge and sincere oath to treat her patients as the individuals they are rather than by following flawed medical algorithms. She truly takes her time to LISTEN to parents. You know this because she will give you ample time to explain things, she doesn't cut you off and say things like, "that has no basis," or " you're just a nervous mother." Which I've gotten from other pediatricians and doctors (and I've seen many due to the my child's many health complications). Instead, she asks relevant questions and will even call you after your appointments or just whenever if she feels something is pertinent to the health of your child. She will call you personally with lab results as they come if she knows it is very important in determining something. I never had a doctor do that for me or my child. I'm soooooo grateful that I've found dr. Franzia. A true doctor is someone who is open to learning and continually seeks knowledge within their realm and outside their realm. She is someone who recognizes that there are knowledge gaps in each thought of school and seeks to search for answers on her own time, not just let information be fed to her. If you want someone who will advocate for your child, work with you as an equal, and empower you to be a better parent, look no further. Dr. Franzia is a true angel. On top of all that, her office is such a pleasant place to be. It is not a drab office with a few magazines for parents and a few old toys for kids. Instead, it is a warm and inviting environment for both parents and children! It touches up on all your senses when you get there. For children, there are endless amount of things to play with (toys, puzzles, rocking horse, scoot cars, dolls,big fish tank with beautiful fishes). For parents, there are so many informational materials for you to look at and learn from. You know Dr. Franzia put great thought into her office because my daughter never wants to leave and I always look forward to what there is to learn the next time I go. Dr. Roma Franzia is the best pediatrician you will ever find. She is kind, patient, and treats every child as if it's one of her own. She listens, understands, and makes you feel as your child is her most important patient and dedicates as much time as you need (doesn't rush you or judge). She goes above and beyond to educate herself on everything related to the healthy development of a child (and teaches us so much with every visit). She does not just stick to the basics but truly amazes me as to how knowledgeable, passionate, and well read she is. Just recently, we had our son in a walker for approximately 3 weeks, and at the recent appointment her trained eye noticed that. He was on his tip toe at his wellness exam, and Dr Franzi immediately noticed that was an effect if the walker and to limit walker time so as not to weaken his calves/foot posture. Dr Franzia also has the best product recommendations. We used Kabrita formula and our baby has thrived and loved it! And recently provided us with samples of products that help prevent food allergies in babies! As new parents she even provided us with little a "Don't Panic Booklet" with all the common issues and treatments for babies. It's been so helpful! We once had a scare after-hours where our son accidentally ate honey and of course her wonderful team was there to assist us. What more could we ask for? Our son is in the best hands. I recommended Dr Franzia to another new mom, who cried after her first visit as she couldn't believe what a lovely and supportive doctor she was for her newborn sick child. Highly recommend and very grateful for Dr Franzia and her team. Also, I think if our son Jacob could talk he would say HE LOVES going to her office - from the moment you walk into the elevator and in every room the toys and decor make this a lovely experience for every child. Dr Franzia has cared for my four children for 6 years. I'm tempted to say she's even cared for me during that same time--not with direct medical attention, but through the depth and quality of attention she's given to our family during that time. As a Doctor, Roma Franzia is an unusual blend of current knowledge and traditional methods. She knows all current medical practices and issues, but doesn't always buy into every fad. As your children grow, you'll know the fads I mean. She is such a substantial care provider. With so many children, I've been stumped more than once by symptoms they've presented. Dr. Franzia has nailed it every time. My 2 year old son once started developing hives every time he played outside in the chilly weather. I of course started to panic, thinking he was developing an allergy to the cold. After sitting in her office for 5 minutes, however, she knew immediately that he was experiencing a post-viral reaction, activating histamines in his body--not when cold but when he warmed up from running around! She calmed me immediately with her certainty, she treated him, and he's of course fine. That's another invaluable component of the experience with Dr. Franzia--the calm. Dr. Franzia is a confident, completely capable Dr., but she also respects all of the cares, concerns and intuitive decisions of the parent. She has never issued a judgmental tone (even though she probably thinks we're nuts sometimes). I've only always felt as though my children are in capable hands. Dr. Franzia visibly cares *about* not only for, our family. Lastly, being a solo practitioner, she somehow figures a way to make time when you need her (she even once opened the office after normal visiting hours to take a look at one of my sick kiddos--don't tell her I told you so). After the retirement of our long time pediatrician (who had also been mine as a child), I was faced with the daunting task of finding a new practice. I adored our previous doctor who knew my girls background without checking a single note. My kids are frequent visitors so it was essential to find a doctor who I could easily work with in their health needs and who understood us as individuals. I did not want a large group where each week I might end up with a different doctor in the practice. I wanted someone that knew us. I interviewed Dr Roma and was impressed, and from the moment my kids walked through her doors, there was excitement about exploring all the various nooks and crannies of toys and play areas! They loved every detail but especially the little fairy door at the base of the office desk! They are always excited to see Dr Roma and feel safe and comfortable there, which is a major concern with them. In just the past year and a half, we have gotten to know Roma extremely well (frequent flyer miles racked up from so many visits!) but best of all -Roma knows us! She knows the history of each daughter and the needs that child has, and she also knows how infections play out in their unique bodies. Needing to be more aggressive in some cases to help her get well and also where to let it run it's course. Dr Roma just knows each child very well in her practice- it amazes me that someone can run a busy solo practice but still remember the little details of an individual child! I never thought I would find another pediatrician as great as our prior one (who retired at 78!) but I'm happy to say I have. My prayer is that one day my children can take their children to Dr Roma! Dr. Franzia has been our trusted pediatrician for over 10 years now. She runs a wonderful solo practice which is becoming more and more uncommon in todays world. What that means is when you call...no matter what time of day...you will be dealing with her and only her. This is so importnant to me in terms of the continuity of care and really forging a relationship where my kids know and trust her. You will never feel rushed during a visit. She takes the time to listen carefully to all issues/concerns and works with parents as a partner to treat the child effectively. The office itself is absolutely beautiful. I promise you have never seen a doctor's office like this. Each room is decorated differently with books and toys and murals to keep it children's minds and bodies occupied and less anxious. I also aprreciate that while it doesn't feel so "clinical" - it is always impecably clean. The Dr.'s staff are always polite and helpful. The billing specialist has gone above and beyond to help resolve some insurance issues we experienced. The nurses are kind and knowledgeable. Dr. Franzia has been there for our family from everything from ear piercing to middle of the night ememergency room visits and everything in between! She is knowlegeable, calm and dedicated to helping families to be happy and healthy. If you are in need of a pediatrician I reccommend calling her office to just to set up a preliminary visit. My daughters have been patients of Dr. Franzia for nearly 3 years. From my observation, she is not only an excellent physician, but a doctor who is passionate and cares about her patients. My eldest daughter, who is 5 year old now, has been suffering from chronic asthma, sinusitis, as well as a number of other respiratory issues since 18 months old. She has been in and out of doctors' offices for most of her childhood, and finally we have started to see some improvement with her chronic health issues. The improvement has been all due to Dr. Franzia's ongoing dedication to finding a successful treatment program for her. Dr. Franzia is truly a human being who deeply cares about her patients. She has a warm and attentive manner who takes the time to listen and answer my questions and concerns. She has always made herself available to address any issues and is always prompt in returning messages. What has impressed me the most, is that she doesn't just respond to the immediate health issue at hand, but considers the bigger picture of both of my daughter's overall health issues and how to maintain and improve it. She always seems to be informed about the latest medical research in her field. Plus, she is proactive about looking and finding solutions, before going to an extreme treatment plan. I've been taking my 5 and 2 year old girls to Dr. Franzia since they were born, and they both just adore her! I first met Dr. Franzia while pregnant with my oldest, and from the get-go she's always made me feel confident as a parent with decisions I've made regarding my children's health and wellness. As a nervous first-time parent, she took the time to answer my numerous questions and even asked about my postpartum recovery. Dr. Franzia has always advised me to avoid "Dr. Google" and just page her if I have questions. Over the years, I have texted Dr. Franzia many times after hours or on weekends for injuries and concerns about illness--she quickly responds with a solution. We are always able to get in same-day for sick visits; as a parent, this is so reassuring when your child is sick. "Dr. Roma" (as the kids call her) is as friendly as they come and really has a knack with children. She explains everything to them beforehand in a calming voice, no matter how young, and that approach really make my kids comfortable during sick and wellness visits. Her practice is very kid friendly, with lot of toys and lovely themed rooms that appeal to children--my kids absolutely love going to visit Dr. Franzia! I can honestly say that I've never met a doctor that makes me (and my children) feel so at ease. My twins have just turned 13, and very soon my youngest child will turn 11, which means its time to see Dr Roma again for the annual physicals. Yay! Every year we look forward to that day, when the kids and I learn about their physical and intellectual milestones as they sprint into their adulthood way took quickly! Each time we bring those cute progress booklets, that the kids have received from Dr. Roma on their very first visit as infants. Not to forget, we make sure that the pink butterfly for a girl and blue or green for the boys stay firmly glued at on front covers until the adulthood ;);) All that wonderful milestones the kids make is jotted down in those cute little books. If only all doctors were like Roma Franzia! From the moment you walk in, it's clear this place is special. The entry is stunningly decorated for the kids each season and holiday. Each exam room is themed with life-sized animal exam tables and gorgeous painted murals, and is filled with books, rotating and relevant medical articles and toys to keep everyone busy. When she comes in, she is fully present and warm, and takes the time to really listen. She is able to seamlessly connect the dots and diagnose and treat fully -- there is no uncertainty or "loose ends." She goes above and beyond to ensure you and your child are comfortable with any treatment plan, often administering a first does or treatment in her office to start your child on a well path immediately. She then takes the time to follow up and ensure any treatment plan works to complete satisfaction. They have a numbing spray for the vaccine shots and flavors for the tongue sticks. Everything is thought through from beginning to end to deliver a happy experience for your child. On top of that, she fully understands all the current issues and trends and "gets" your concerns and what is going on at the schools and in the community. After taking my newborn to a few different pediatricians in the first 2 months of life, getting the eye roll, the judgement for asking questions (you know... because I'm a new mom), I finally stumbled upon Dr. Roma Franzia. To say she is a gift from god doesn't even do her justice. Talk about a doctor who goes above and beyond. From day one Dr. Franzia has taken all the time needed to ensure I left every appointment with all my questions answered, with all the knowledge I need to continue to guide my child in the right direction. She has never judged me for a question or concern. Over the summer we went out of the country for a few weeks, while out my daughter developed a very bad all over body skin rash. I was able to send Dr. Franzia and her team photos and videos of everything, got advice on what to do immediately and at what point would it need immediate medical attention vs. waiting till we got back in town for Franzia to take a look. Dr. Franzia has been my children's doctors for close to 20 years. She has always been great with them and has had great instincts when dealing with any ailments. But I had no idea she would be as fantastic as she is now that they are both in college on the East Coast! The care continues well beyond their youth. My Freshman ended up in the emergency room three weeks into college and Dr. Franzia was right their on the phone helping her and advocating for her. Again she had great instincts and was able to determine that she needed to get on allergy medicine right away. Dr. Franzia worked with the Doctors in the Connecticut hospitals and calmed both my daughter's and my nerves since I was so far away. Then she monitored the situation and made sure my daughter was on the mend! She is a wonderful doctor with an unbelievable amount of expertise and compassion! We are lucky to have her. dr roma is a fantastic doctor, we feel very lucky that she is our son's doctor. she is always available whether it be at the office or on the phone at 3am. her offices are beautiful and welcoming to anyone - including children, it's like a wonderland. I especially like that it's a private practice - my son sees only dr roma who is always on top of things, no need to explain issues with a doc from a group practice who may or may not know my son. dr roma has 2 children herself so she also carries that mom experience with her and inspires new moms to trust their instincts. most of our appointments have been timely - there has been a time or 2 that we did have a long wait but I would want that special attention should it arise for my son so I am glad that she isn't ruffled by keeping on schedule when a child's well being is at stake. better to wait. Dr. Franzia is the best! My son just began his freshman year at CSU and she has been his pediatrician since he was 6 months old. As a new mom almost 19 years ago I looked at multiple practices and once I met Dr. Franzia, the rest is history. We have had 4 children cared for through adolescents to teen to young adult with Dr Franzia. She is a diamond. In fact, after 10 corporate moves I wasn't going to leave her practice on move 11 so we flew back to Chicago for my kids annual health check ups. I've never met a more caring, respectful, understanding pediatrician. She values and respects the children she cares for so much she talks to them. Asks them age appropriate check in questions. Gives them space to empower themselves for their own health journey now and in the future. She is truly there for the child and as a parent, I respect that immensely. I found Dr. Franzia by googling peditrcians near me, i read her reviews and after having an unpleasent experiance with my babys first doctor, i was excited to meet her! Me and my daughter 1 at the time(now 6) went in for a meet and greet and we just loved every bit of it, from the decoration of the office, the cozziness of the rooms, the cleanliness to Dr. Franzia and her staffs professionalism and kindness. We were decided that She was gonna be our new peditrician. Dr. Franzia now takes care of all 3 of my girls. We all love her. She is so gentle and patient with them.
