I had a need to replace a car horn fuse (15 amp) that I believed to be common, yet the guy at the Will Call hardly did any research to look for it in his computer. "Nope, out of stock" was the answer I received when he hardly looked for it. I wound up finding it at an auto parts store close to my hotel in no time, and without a computer reference. Folks, its not that hard to find a 15 amp fuse. Either way, the guy who clearly wanted to leave early lost a customer forever based on his unwillingness to assist a customer that would've paid a reasonable price to handle a safety issue for his vehicle. This business is absolute garbage. Welcome to National City.

They work on old cars which my Corolla wagon is 1995, and they replaced a valve cover gasket for me for $150 last year. Later, the owner Andy (aka AJ) helped me find a used 22R engine for my 1982 Toyota Sunrader RV, and later, a hood. Both those were located in LA. Then after I bought the motor, Andy bought my no good 22R engine that his neighbor took out. My hood got all rusted out from being exposed to the ocean dew for only a year. Andy looked up something for me on ChatGPT, which I at that time last year, never heard of. Now I can thank Andy for introducing me to ChaptGPT, because I chat with Chat every single day. Andy also introduced me to a "really cheap, REALLY cheap!" (those are Andy's exact words) mechanic across the street that put in the used 22R motor I bought for $850 labor. From the initial phone call until I picked it up, the crew at SB Autohaus explained everything they found, the work they needed my approval for to move forward and the detailed pricing that I should expect to see on the invoice. My car sat in my driveway for a couple years bc it was just cheaper to drive my Honda. When I took it in there was some type of leak, the brake fluid was sludge, my wipers were cracked and crusty. They kept my car for two days and replaced all the tubes and fluids that needed replacing. I was pretty adamant about getting new brakes but they said no, drive it around first because there was still a good amount of padding and I wouldn't need brakes for a while still. No upselling, no pushy "you might need this and this and this" like other places, just a clear and concise description of what needs to be done and a checklist of what to look out for in the future. After this experience there are two things I do know - I will probably buy another Benz bc of it's reliability and once it's out of the original factory warranty, I'll take it to SB Autohaus for Service A & B and whatever else needs repair.

Compared to the dealership, their prices are a great value. I had originally planned to have the work done at the dealership, but after learning about their 20% first-time customer discount, I decided to give them a try. Initially, I only needed my brake pads replaced. However, my car started displaying battery warnings, and both AutoZone and my Mercedes-Benz advisor confirmed that the battery needed to be replaced as well. Since I was already planning to come here for the pads I decided to have both services done here. I dropped my vehicle off around 2:00 PM, and it was ready by 9:00 AM the following morning, which was a very quick turnaround. My only concern came after reviewing the invoice. The total seemed higher than I expected, and after taking a closer look, I realized I had been charged a diagnostic fee for the battery. When I mentioned the warning messages, the staff said they would "check it out." Had I been told they would do a diagnostic to confirm and charge for that, I would have declined it and simply proceeded with the replacement. That said, this experience would not stop me from returning or recommending this shop. The service was professional, the staff was friendly, and the work was completed quickly. My only suggestion is that if you already know exactly what service your vehicle needs, make that very clear upfront so they don't run a diagnostic that is not needed.
