We had hoped for the same treatment when we walked into the Leawood location but instead got treated to a pair of adult toddlers more interested in judging us on our lack of Rolexes and Porsches than our need for glasses. Felix was a true gentleman and a good businessman. He saw in us people who wanted high quality glasses from a decent company at a decent price. From what I can gather, none of that exists today. I ordered 3 pairs of glasses, got no receipt for the order because we were in a hurry. Male clerk was supposed to contact me in 5 days for prescription info. 2 weeks later, I contacted him and informed him I didn't want the 3rd pair of glasses and wanted receipts for everything and wanted everything to be submitted to insurance. Male clerk seemed to be more interested in saving commission than helping me get what I needed. I emailed him my prescription and waited for confirmation of changes. Several weeks later, I get 3 pairs of glasses with none of my requested changes including the 3rd pair of glasses that I didn't need. Plus no submission to insurance, no change in prescription based on new info, and no fucking receipts for the 3rd pair of glasses I didn't even need. Don't walk. Run away from this company. Felix is no longer in charge and the company has been taken over by halfwits with delusions of adequacy. You'll encounter many fewer assholes if you just stay in your car in the parking lot and go to warbyparker.com on your phone instead.

I'm so happy with my purchase from here and would highly recommend this place to anyone! I love wearing my glasses at night while I'm getting ready for bed so that I can fall asleep easier. The glasses do a fantastic job at blocking blue light. And they look great too! I now have a regular pair of glasses for everyday use and an amber-tinted pair that I wear before bed every night. Spencer was very helpful in helping me decide on the exact color that I wanted.

So it was alarming up front how uncomfortable they were answering questions. They seemed surprised I wanted to know more than someone should call me at some time in the future, to let me know they would some day do something for some unknown amount of money. Knowing the markups in question I insisted on at least knowing how much we were talking about for a set of replacement lenses. They begrudgingly came up with a price of $600 dollars. When I asked to confirm that was just for replacement lenses they again wouldn't answer and just dropped the price by $150. Their markup was that high they could cut that much off and still be fine. Which they were apparently more comfortable with than just answering my question, or really any questions. I opted to go else where.

From check in to eye exam to check out, it took 30 minutes. They have a machine they can use in lieu of dilating your eyes. It cost $35 and is definitely worth it. They also have an optical shop with a wide, variety selection of glasses for men, women & kids. On a personal note, Dr. Stacy Phillips was able to help me solve an on going issue with my left cornea by referring to another specialist doctor. I'm truly grateful for her for helping me resolve with what I thought was an "issue I just had to deal with" for the rest of my life.

The service at Hunter Family Vision is something I do not see in the marketplace today. I work and am very familiar with group insurance. I work for a consulting house that is HQ in KC and while my practice is focused on absence, I know a fair amount about other group offered products. I received a text today from Brandi at Hunter Family Vision notifying me that my company's eye insurance provider, VSP, was changing their policy provisions and I may not be eligible after 6/1 for "medically necessary" contacts. In the early 90s, I grew up as a kid who had to patch their right eye to make the left eye stronger and for a long time, glasses were my only option. I eventually moved to contacts and saw a competitor. No one ever told me that insurance may cover the cost of my contacts because of the difference in the prescription between my right and left eye. At my first visit, Dr. Swan told me they should be covered 100%. The thousands of dollars she has saved me over the last 5 years goes above and beyond what I would anticipate from any other healthcare provider. This is true patient advocacy. I was overwhelmingly impressed with Brandi and the entire office staff at Hunter Family Vision. I received a proactive text today about the policy changes and recommended that I come in and see Dr. Swan for my annual exam before my policy changed. That text alone also saved me hundreds of dollars. Otherwise, I would have waited until the end of the year to only find out that VSP may not cover my contacts. I live in Lawrence, KS now. But I will happily make the trip to continue to be a patient of Dr. Swan and Hunter Family Vision. Thank you so much for being an advocate for patient healthcare.

Warby Parker has as big selection of high-end brands or more affordable options that you would find anywhere else. Their optical techs are well-trained, they listen to your concerns or ideas and help match you with just the right pair. Each time that we have been in, it has either been a quick session to get an adjustment or a longer session to get a consultation for new frames or an entire new look. Either way, the service is great and the techs are knowledgeable (Sam is particularly helpful). Yes, you can order online and have frames shipped to you to check fit/style/look, but a visit to the brick & mortar gives you that extra sense of confidence. Frames get fitted with custom lenses and are ready quickly, and you can be rocking your new look within a week or so after getting that fit. Definitely worth a look.

Eventually I got assistance from Sam who was well versed in the eye care out of and in of network prices. With my lens needs it turns out to be quite pricey being out of network. He explained what I could do to make it more economical and even said to get my prescription they could contact my vision physician.

I didn't think it was a stye, but hey, I'm not a doctor, so I just went with what he said. He referred me to another facility. Once I got to that facility weeks later, turns out, he was incorrect and should have never sent me to the other facility. The facility that he sent me to works very closely with him so they were very surprised when I showed up and everything that he had sent was incorrect. The other office apologized to me for making me wait and go through all of this hassle for nothing. They were pretty shocked about what happened. He wasted my time and my money, and I ended up having to go for a third appointment somewhere else. That also postponed my treatment. Dr. Schwerdtfeger (Dr. Joe) would not recommend. If you are a doctor and you were unsure of the next steps a patient needs to take, tell them that. I would have more respect for a doctor if they told me the truth, instead of sending me somewhere that couldn't help.

Many of the frames are hip and trendy, but you can also find a more conservative look there if you want. The young man at the Prairie Village location was knowledgeable and very nice, and I had a generally good experience there. My big beef about these shops is their design. The closest you can get to a big mirror is about six to eight feet because they are all behind the counters. I want to see myself in a big, well-lit mirror from a variety of distances and angles. They also have small mirrors on the counter tops, but that is really not that helpful because we don't view the world through a 9 x 12 inch oval. I am both near and far sighted, so I had a hard time getting a good view of myself in the big mirrors that were so far away. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks about eyeglass shopping this way, but it's something I've noticed recently. I've been obsessively shopping for new frames because I really want to change my look. I've been to dozens of shops in the KC metro and even Lawrence. I'm amazed at how many shops have small, poorly lit and/or inaccessible mirrors. If I'm going to spend $500 to $1200 on new lenses and frames that I will wear on my face every day, I sure as heck want to be able to see myself clearly before making a decision.
