I've been having trouble communicating with callers on my iphone for a long time. Callers could not hear me as long as the car was running. I had stopped at another toyota dealership for help, but the salesman was stumped. Today I stopped at Romano and was helped by Barbar, a salesman who was very proficient with the computer functions. He determined that my microphone was not working. At first, he suggested a service appointment to fix it but found a simple fix under his "help" function. It took 30 seconds to restart the microphone by temporarily disconnecting the negative side of the battery in the trunk! Barbar spent over an hour with me diagnosing and fixing my problem. He saved me the high cost of a service call. I am ever so grateful to him. read more

I am interested in trading in a 2022 for 2026 Highlander. I responded to the internet salesperson and made an appointment to have them give me a trade in value for my car. Entering the dealership I was introduced to a salesperson and the internet person left. I repeatedly asked to have the car driven and evaluated. Over the next 40 minutes the salesperson asked me questions such as age of the tires, the carmax offer I received and at almost every question had to take time to go to the manager, then came back with another question. I repeatedly asked to have the car driven and evaluated. Finally I told the salesperson that I had to leave in 10 minutes for an appointment and would someone please evaluate the car. He returned to the manager and the answer was, "You should probably come in at another time" Not a chance.... read more

My recent experience with Romano Toyota was a nightmare. They are beyond unprofessional and the way they do business is completely unacceptable from start to finish. I have zero confidence in the Service Dept; including, at least two, upper management employees I interacted with. My 2022 Toyota Rav-4 with 37,900 miles of was towed to Romano Toyota (where I purchased it from) on 5/25/26, when it stopped working. My vehicle suddenly stalled. It would start but when put into "Drive" the vehicle would stall with an "Engine Stopped- Steering Power Low" indicator light. I called Romano Toyota on 5/26 and was told it would be at least 7-10 days until it could be LOOKED at and the wait for a loaner car was 3-4 WEEKS. For a such large automotive group I find this practice completely unacceptable. For work, I provide care to five "end of life" patients in their homes and rely on a vehicle to get to their homes daily. The inconvenience and cost of Ubers was astronomical. On 5/27 I asked to speak with a supervisor and was transferred to Kaylee. She told me there was nothing she could do and I had to wait for others who had made prior appointments. I did not know in advance my car would stop working and I would need to make an appointment. She reiterated there were no loaners available for "weeks". She stated someone would call me when my car was brought in to be looked at. On 6/01, I received TEXT messages from an unknown person asking if I approve of the diagnosis and want to proceed. I advised I had not received any prior message. They said they re-sent it. I still didn't received it and verified they were sending to the correct phone number. They said "yes". I asked several times for a professional to CALL me and not text to no avail. An hour later my mother received the diagnostic EMAIL from Toyota. The person unprofessionally asked me to have my mother forward me the diagnostic. She forwarded me a picture of the undercarriage of my vehicle stating my "inspection" was completed. Exasperated is an understatement to how I felt. I called and asked to speak to a higher ranking supervisor above Kaylee. I was transferred to Frank who basically repeated what Kaylee said but added he was talking to me during his lunch hour making me feel I was inconveniencing him. I told him not one person has called me to ask why my vehicle is there so how can it possibly be done and I was not in need of an inspection. I told him I have asked NUMEROUS times for a call and have not received one. He said my tech is "Nick" and this is who is texting me. He assured me I would only receive calls moving forward and that he removed the email and noted NOT to text. I continued to receive solely text messages from Nick and was told "diagnostic" does not detect anything wrong with the vehicle. I asked how do they know what they're checking for if they don't know why it was towed there in the first place? I explained there was dry antifreeze all over the motor and under-hood and if diagnostic checks the actual tubing? I received no answer- to this day. While waiting in line to pick up my car, the customer in front of me had returned to express a concern they had with their service. Once he left I was left waiting while the group behind the counter laughed and talked about this customer. Once I paid for horrible service and no repairs, I was pointed in the direction of dozens of cars and told I could find my car in that area. While walking up/down the aisle an employee asked if he could help me. I told him my car was serviced and I was looking for it. He said "I don't think it would be here.. these are all of our loaners...". So much for no loaner vehicles for "3-4 weeks". 1. For a major automotive group 7-10 days to LOOK at a vehicle is unacceptable. 2. For a major automotive group not having a loaner for 3-4 weeks is unacceptable. 3. I never received a call asking why the vehicle was towed there. 4. I asked NUMEROUS times for the texts to stop. I wanted phone calls and this never happened. 5. I never asked for an inspection. 6. Supervisors were no help and unprofessional. Sorry to interrupt your lunch Frank. 7. Being lied to about loaner car availability- deceptive and unacceptable practice. I have a complete loss of trust in the company as a whole. This experience has left me questioning the integrity of the company as a whole. I will never return to Romano Toyota and will never recommend Romano Toyota. They did include a quote of over $1,000 to repair rear brakes. read more

I presented my Toyota for a stripped wiper spline repair. I "diagnosed " the malfunction and authorized them to repair the damaged linkage. I also asked them to reconnect a manual door lock linkage. They told me that they would charge $170 "DIAGNOSIS " Surcharge for each repair! That's $340 ON TOP OVER TIME & MATERIALS. They euphemistically call it a diagnosis fee. Diagnosis is inseparable from the repair process. It is in fact, greed taking advantage of customers. If you are contemplating purchasing an auto from Romano. I advise "let the buyer beware" not customer oriented. read more

You think that the outcome that could've been achieved for $400 is the same as you charging $1000? This complaint is not about the fact that the fob was created, it was the fact that you rip people off by charging $1000 to get two fobs when in reality you could purchase a machine for two to $300, that would allow you to not only re-code but also reset fob keys for all Toyotas and other cars. That saves $600 for each time it's done. I spent my life and process and you fail miserably at it. The fact that Tech said that's the way you do it and I found a better way and you're just concerned about the outcome bothers me. This is why I won't work with Romano anymore. I have taken my Rav4 here for years since I purchased it there in 2019. I will never again return. On March 3, 2025 I dropped off my vehicle for a noisy muffler. About 30 minutes later, I received a quote by text (not even a phone call) for $4,048 for a complete exhaust repair along with maintenance suggestions. I called to speak with Frank and he would barely engage in conversation to discuss the repair- just this the only option. I asked if there were any coupons available. He said "I don't know, you can check the website". I ended up picking up my vehicle to get a quote somewhere else, after paying the $170 for just the diagnosis. The next day, I brought it to a different mechanic. It required a gasket and removing some broken bolts at the flange to the muffler. It was fixed for $81. Absolutely disgusting attempt at ripping someone off. When I called to attempt to rectify the situation- I spoke with the service manager, her name was Taylor, and she was absolutely no help at all. No refund of my $170 and no apology of the extremely poor experience I had either. Would NEVER recommend them to anyone. I have shared with family and friends, and coworkers. It was my friend's lease deal and they sent me over their paperwork. Once I got to Romano the number games began and not only did they want to charge me MORE money, they also said the lease deal would have less miles than the original paperwork I bought in. The sales guy was so rude he said "are you having a bad day?" after they quoted me $1500 more- I just walked out. Why waste your time?! Want to thank the service department at Romano Toyota for a great experience today. It started off easily as I reserved my service appointment online via there website. When I went to drop off my truck (2012 Tacoma 4x4) I spoke with Mike and told him what type of work I was looking to get done (multipoint Inspection, oil change, and possibly serving serpentine belt depending on inspection). As I left the vehicle, I got a call a couple of hours later that the vehicle had passed all inspection and advised recommended services. Which were correct as I need to replace trans and diff fluids. Honest advice! I decided to balance the wheels as I wasn't satisfied from the service from the Goodyear shop a couple of months ago. Got a 2nd call that the job was done. Toward the end of the day, I picked up my Truck without any surprises or extra fees. Runs and drives strong. read more

I bought a used 2016 Ford Focus from Romano Toyota on June 27,2018. I was told by my sales guy that capital one auntie finance would not approve my loan without this $1400 extended service agreement. Total lie. I called capital one and was told it's not true that it's common practice and actually illegal. You never have to buy extended warranties. Plus there are recommended ones for $400. So beware of this dealer. If this is how they take advantage of a new customer beware. Also I called to see if they would check rotors and the service manager told me I couldn't have a loaner because ' lady we are a Toyota dealer not ford so our Toyota customers come first' you'll have to wait '. If I could give zero stars I would. I came to Romano because of a specific Used 4runner that I had my eye on. The sales associate I dealt with wasn't too adamant about answering my questions about the car during the test drive and he didn't allow me a lot of time to inspect or look at/underneath the car before he drove it away. I won't single out my sales guy's name only because I heard other sales associates acting the same way with other customers in the background. I don't think it's his fault, it's the way the dealership operates. During negotiations, he offered me an insultingly low amount for my trade in. I don't know if it was the sales managers or him but he took my sedan for a drive to inspect it and "magically" came up on his offer by $3,000. I know how the negotiating game works but his original offer was literally insulting especially since he already knew it would have put me upside down on my car loan. When I tried explaining to him that I either needed more money for my trade in or less on the 4runner that I wanted because I couldn't afford it, he became very hostile towards me, blaming me for being potentially upside down if we made a deal, and hesitated to give me my keys and credit card back (He asked for my credit card to show "proof" to the sales manager that I wanted to make a deal that day. I know that I was stupid for giving it to him). Walking out of there was the second best decision I made that day. The first best decision I made that day was driving from Romano to Sun Chevy in Chittenango, test driving a 4runner there the way I wanted to, getting a maximum trade-in offer for my sedan ($3k more than Romano's highest offer), and driving away within 2 hours in my new-to-me 4runner. Even though I live close to Romano, I will never be returning for oil changes or any other services. They lost my trust and respect and from what I can see in other reviews, they lost it from other people as well. read more

Michael K I had worked with Romano Sales and I find them patient and overall I have had very good experiences. I had bought a new Sienna from them, no issues. My problem is with their service. My wife brought our 4Runner into them for recall work, which they performed. We had the rear breaks done in April 20', we have not been driving much. They suggested that the front brakes needed replacing to include rotors, price $692, for just front brakes. My wife called me and I asked her if they were at all symptomatic, noisy, grinding or felt week, Nothing. I told her to punt on that price and we would bring to Manlius Motors near us. Low and behold Brian's team clued us the front and rear brakes were at 5-6mm. We responded to their question, they were not symptomatic. Manlius Motor Works said come pick up your car. I called Romano and clued them, and thanks for nothing. Manlius wanted nothing for their time and I insisted to pay a 1/2 hour. If you ever go to Romano to do recall work I would watch the upsell. I also find them expensive. Overall both companies do good work; but I really did not appreciate the Romano BS. read more

When I leased her three years ago I was told yes you can buy her out at the end and we will help you...Three years later me taking care of my vehicle because she would be my forever... Not only was I emotionally attached to this car for many reasons I loved her...I go in to buyout my Rav to be told nope we don't do that anymore. No honor in their word and when you go to Burdick they are handling all Romano's buyout because they don't do them anymore Now when I was at Romano the sales man Ian stated to me my car was worth nothing cause I had one accident reported and that's even if they wanted to buy it if they would give me anything beside my buy out price of 19025.00 mind you look at the miles.. not even close to 36,000. Went back after him cause her I am in tears cause I don't want to let go of this car and not once did he ask why is it that you have such an emotional attach to a car that it's making you cry..he just didn't care no one did. Went back to look at other cars which anyone knows looking for a car is sooooo not fun . Still they wanted to give me nothing for my car cause remember it's not worth anything..but yet here it is on there lot for 27,995. Where the buyout was 19025.00 how is that fair. The entire process did not take long, and my wife was amazed when our sale's person - Babar Mazhar told us in September, at our 1st meeting, the vehicle would be in at the beginning of October, and here we are back at home on 5OCT22 with a new car. Our salesperson took over an hour explaining everything to us, showing how this and that worked as we have not purchased any new vehicle since 2009 and the modernization of these cars is something we have no experience with & we got it back home in 1 piece! I have been leasing a Toyota Rav 4 since 2017. I am extremely upset that with 15,000 miles on it, my car ALREADY needs its brakes replaced. I tried to discuss this with my local Toyota dealership where I purchased my car, and they provided absolutely no help to me at all. I am very upset with my treatment at this location and the lack of quality in my vehicle. There is no reason this should be happening and now I have to pay my own money to get this fixed. Again, my car only has 15,000 miles on it. I believe that it is a defect in my car, and that it should be taken care of by my dealership and not out of my own pocket. I have never experienced this before with the multiple other vehicles I have owned in my life. Let me first start by saying this Toyota is about 90 min south of where I live. I had a rather unfavorable experience at the Toyota nearest to me, so I called ahead of time and spoke to Sean O. about trading in my car for a RAV4. He was incredibly helpful over the phone and invited me to come down and he'd do his best to help me. I made the trek down and I'm sure glad I did! Sean was able to answer all my questions, show me all the features on the new RAV4 and most importantly, he worked with my budget. He worked diligently to make it so I could drive off the lot with it the same day rather than having to drive 90 min one way again on a diff day. I walked into the dealership- no one greeted me, no one approached me- I spent 15 minutes on my own looking over the Highlander that was on the showroom floor. It was like I was invisible!! Many sales people were milling about, behind desks, chatting. I finally approached a sales person and asked if I could have some questions answered. He looked put out and said "sure, about what"? DUH???? What do you think- wedding dresses?? I had to suggest to him that we GO OVER TO THE VEHICLE to chat. He did answer my questions but acted like they were annoying and gave little detail. In the end, I never got his name- he never introduced himself to me nor asked my name / contact info. Sorry, will NEVER buy a car from this dealer! Had and always have a great experience with this dealership. We bought our car in 2013 here and have been impressed with sales (Dan Holliman, Chris Campbell) and service ever since. Any maintenance issues (expected and unexpected) with the car has been dealt with promptly and courteously. Mike Reed in service is super to work with. Delighted with my recent experience purchasing a 2017 Prius 4, my first hybrid. Brad Oliver couldn't have been more helpful, providing all the information I needed without being at all pushy. RATED AS THIEVES-LET THE BUYER BEWARE My vehicle has been at Romano Toyota OVER FIVE MONTHS- it went in for a toyota recall to replace frame-ROMANO charges toyota and they charge me as well $4000.00 and truck still not repaired- I reviewed their ERRONEOUS invoice to find that they also marked up the parts by as much as 150% ,every part was marked up and im not sure that the work was even done-I see that ROMANO has lots of bad press-and Im going to see that the public is aware of this situation, when I contacted Mike Abbey GM he didn't want to resolve the problem, he told me to post on social media and wasn't interested in resolving-ALL PARTS WERE MARKED UP FROM 20% to 150%-and im not sure if they even did the work...????IM WARNING THE GENERAL PUBLIC OF ROMANOS PRICE GOUGING-ITS ILLEGAL- AND HES FORCING ME TO LEGAL ACTION-THEIR NOT GOING TO GET AWAY WITH THIS...
