I had Roman do the upholstery on my 1966 buick, I told not to do the side panels in the back seat due to the price would be $2100.oo , So I was supposed to pay $1900.00, two weeks later I came to pick up my car. The seat belts were broken , the door nob lock one was missing, and The rear seats side panels were redone. He intimated me so much I just paid the $2100.00 I demanded I wanted my door nob replaced, He stated he need the one to compare I told him I wanted it back than a week later he gave me two brown knobs and said he lost the original. He had a new hire who did not know what he was doing work on my car. My friend who was 70yo, needed to use the bathroom and he refused. I would not recommend the shop or his work, he is rude and intimidating to women. Please do not use him. You will regret it. This is years later and I am still mad about this. Patty read more

So today June 18th, peak season for upholstery, after going to 3 places in Grass Valley, two of which were defunct, I went to Auburn to Roman's Custom Upholstery. I knew I was in the right place immediately. A real upholstery shop was a great start and then I talked with Roman, a wonderful individual, who told me that he could do exactly what I needed and for a totally fair price. After I told him how I got jerked around by the Chicago Park guy who was going to do this the first week of May, after a March consultation, I had to go on the hunt for help, he heard this and he told me 2 weeks cause he felt bad for me. Roman's had been recommended to me by a general classic car repair shop. It's pretty far from my house in Solano County, but after reading the reviews here, I decided to take my 1963 T-Bird convertible there. His entire staff is very friendly and helpful and while I was there the first time, I talked to another customer who told me he was very happy with past work there and had brought another project that day. Roman's installed new seat covers and foam, new door panels and swapped out my old incorrect seat belts for ones that matched what would have been installed in back in the '60's with the addition of matching belt retractors and belt reveal moldings. The brackets that came with the belts had to be modified there (by welding) to get the exact fit that I wanted, but this was no issue for Roman's. At one point Lupe called me and asked me to come up for a visit to see that everything was going the way I wanted it. When I arrived, Roman said everything was going OK except for one BIG problem. It turns out that the new door panels that I had procured and that Roman had sent out to be painted to match the interior were the wrong door panels. To be sure they were ALMOST the correct panels, so close that all the trim had already been attached and only when the door was closed was the problem discovered. Roman let that information sink in for a minute before saying that he had a proposal to fix the problem that we could discuss. Long story short, he modified the door panels to fit the car, then added a perfectly matching strip of padded vinyl to cover the modification in such a way that only a VERY knowledgeable person would know that anything is out of the ordinary. In fact the modification is better than what came from the factory and tiny exposed seam--about 3 inches long--is only visible when the door is wide open. Again, even with the door open, it would take a very knowledgeable person to see what had not been that way from the factory. Very reasonable prices, too. I wish I had known about this place sooner, in time to do my other car that ended up with some issues. read more
