I went in for a quote one week that was $620, and I never got a print out for my boss, so I went back a second time a week later, and they charged a $100 over what they were a week prior. It was an estimate for two small back seat arm rests approximately 12"x5" for $730, and the cost was $300 (x2, $600) for just the fabric this sounded ridiculous. I was disappointed in their inconsistency and customer service, so I decided to go to get quotes at a few others locations. After the worst consumer experience of my life at another upholstery shop (see a few reviews back), Nate's absolutely nailed it. This is a well ran business that understands good customer service. I went in for a quote on having my boat seats reupholstered and was told they were running about three months out which is pretty much the story of everything right now. I explained that I was trying to get my boat on the market to sell while it's still early in the season and asked if there were any other options. The owner thought about it a minute and said how about $100 extra and I'll have someone do some overtime to get it done. I was thrilled at the option and the effort made and an extra $100 seemed very reasonable to get something in a week versus three months. I was told it would be about a week or so. Having just been burned at another upholstery shop, I was a little skeptical of the "or so" part. Man was I surprised to get a call at noon six days later telling my seats were ready to be picked up. On top of that the seats looked absolutely perfect. The retail area is clean and organized. This business is ran with professionalism while maintaining a personable experience at the same time. I could not have been more pleased with my entire experience and recommend this business to anyone needing upholstery work done. read more

Bad service always the bait and switch conversation. And after there install was not wired right they used every way to get out of the job. Even the threat of having to ship it for repair which all it needed was solid power for the clock. And presets. A $1500 turned into a $4000 job and I still have to pull the dash to but the A/C. I called to find out how much it would cost to have my Scooter seat covered at the lowest possible price, as I am giving the Scooter to my adult son and have no need of fancy leather or any such thing. I talked to a nice woman who told me they could get me out the door for about $150, which was reasonable. We took the seat to "Nate's"...and were subjected to the classic "Bait-n-Switch" by the facility owner. Nate seems to think he cannot cover a small scooter seat for less than than $375, when his employee quoted me about $150. When I called to inquire as to the broad difference in price, poor Nate talked about how he and his Wife are "put under pressure" to give a quote, but they don't know until they "do the work". Had I asked them to cover my car seat, sofa or something variable, I can see where they might be off a little. But a small scooter seat? Nate thinks that an Upholstery Shop can't bid correctly on a small scooter seat because..."he's under pressure". Like Nate has never covered a small scooter seat before or cannot bid accurately, adding $225 to the $150 preliminary bid for a scooter seat? What lack of professionalism. Ha! Ha! Ha! Eventually Nate told me to F-Off. That is the level of service and professionalism that you get at Nate's...a big fat zero...with a large, inflated bill at the end! So, either Nate doesn't train his employees, he trains his employees to lie...or...Nate simply lies and gouges people after they have made the trip to his shop. I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone, as they are not trust worthy....and they seem to not know their business. Either way, they are not trustworthy. read more

I went to Audio Image for a simple installation. I needed a jack added to the radio in my truck so I could directly plug in an MP3 player. I had already been to another (highly rated) audio shop and they quoted me a ridiculous price to do the job and then tried to 'up-sell' me to an expensive radio. Erik at Audio Image gave me a reasonable quote, then followed thru with a quick and perfect installation. I would definitely go back for a more difficult job as I found them honest and delivered what they promised. read more

I stopped by Nate's to inquire about the leather interior on a 2007 Toyota Prius I just bought. Nate took a look and suggested I wait on a repair/replace and simply clean the upholstery and treat the leather with leather conditioner. Nate suggested the brand Malco. First of all I was so impressed that he didn't try and sell me on replacing the leather at this time and secondly he took his time to teach me about leather maintenance. Now here's the kicker!! - while we were walking up to my car my purse strap broke and fell to the ground. Nate took a look at the metal pieces on the leather strap and had his help fix my strap while we were discussing my leather seats. So not only did I leave with leather seat training, my favorite purse got fixed!! - all for free. UNTIL I went back in cuz I needed to know HOW MANY speakers to install. the ass came out and kept saying "do it now, I can do it". I just asked him to look at the cut wires in my back door. I was going to buy a stereo from Best Buy and have Audio Image install it but I found out I could by a better stereo for the same price from Audio Image and get the installation for CHEAP CHEAP just for buying the stereo from them. My only problem was that I needed front speakers but didn't have enough money for the ones on the showroom floor. Erik was nice enough to go out of his way and find good speakers in a catalog and order them for me for only $50 and he installed them at a seriously discounted rate. He even showed me how to use the new system and washed my car windows! My new stereo kicks amp. These guys do great work for a great price. No one is going to get ripped off here. Don't let them touch your wiring. We went in to a Sirius capable stereo/CD player installed in both of our older cars. Took the pickup in. No problems. Matt was terrific. Then we brought the 4runner in for a stereo and integrated back up camera. We called Nate's at 4pm and they said it would be done in a few minutes. Went up there and ended up sitting around for 2 hours because they were having problems with our cigarette lighter blowing fuses?! We use it daily for after market heated seats for our backs. Never had a problem in several years of use. Nate's said we needed a new lighter. Fine. Ok. We're tired. Got the car and found out that now the lighter won't work at all???? THEN we discovered that our electric back window won't work. What? Went online and did all the possible things to fix it. No dice. So now we're a bit cagey about having them "fix" our wiring. Took it to the Toyota dealer. $550 later we are told that the new lighter's power was disconnected to power the stereo. Toyota got both fixed. Then they discovered that the rear window's power wire was broken when Nate's fished their back up camera video feed through the same hole. When Toyota fixed the wire and operated the window to check it, they heard a loud "POP!" Upon further investigation they found that the video feed was too short. It had been routed in the window's track! Once the window was operational it cut the feed. Nice job. Now we had to spend even more time going back to Nate's to get the video feed fixed. No charge. They didn't argue that they had messed up big time. But also no offer to take on some of the costs of getting all of the fixes done. Didn't even offer to reimburse us for a lighter that we didn't need. Pretty shoddy for full time professionals. We had previously gotten an estimate to have heaters installed in our seats so we could ditch the after-market ones. Now, no way are they touching our wiring! read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but in this case, I want to let others know what a fantastic job Nate and crew did on our tired pontoon boat. just put it in the water and I am so impressed with the fit and finish, we had the seats and carpeting done . It looks better than it did when we bought it new. we also had our stereo replaced (sounds awesome) we will definitely be back for any upholstery or audio needs in the future. read more

This was by far the worst experience I've ever had. Went and got a new stereo and speakers with the promise of same day installation. At the end of the day my car was torn apart and they just couldn't work it out. After demanding they keep my car overnight and quoted a much higher amount than previously they were asked to put my car back together. They would not reimburse for the purchase (had not charged for install yet) they put my car back together and it's never ever been right. I went in and spoke to the owner who would offer no resolution. If anyone reads this in town, you know who I am as I paid to have magnets made to put on the sides of my car telling people "ask me how I got ripped off at Audio Image ". Interesting enough I was asked and so many people concurred they had a horrible experience with him as well. I finally retired my magnets to a guy in a pick up whose story to me was worse than mine. Installed stereo in newly purchased used car. They never bothered to see if the am/fm worked. It didn't...I took it back. they said it needed a new antenna and that they would have to order one. I left a deposit and they said they would call that day. They called a week later and said they couldn't get an antenna for that car. I went by to get my deposit back and it took me 20 minutes and a phone call before they would give me back my money! Never again! read more

My husband went over to Auburn Car Tunes and asked how much. They said no prob it takes a sec and did it for free. We found we needed a new stereo. We will be going to ACT for sure. read more

Le me start with I am a car guy, I have done plenty of high powered stereos, wiring and every part of working on vehicles but I simply had no desire to install a remote start in my wife's truck so I went to Nate's and met Erik, I had already done some research around town and a friend recommended them, I had a budget to keep and everyone I checked with was way out of line on the price, or would not be able to get the job done when I needed it or get the parts on time, these guys got the job done in my price range, called me when all the parts were in, and when there was an issue with a module that was a stock part, they ordered a new one, had it in by Saturday, stayed late so that I could pick it up and stayed even later teaching my wife how to use it, the new keyless entry and remote start work great and I'm very happy with these guys, I will come back for other stuff and support this Placer County business. The only reason they got 5 stars is because you can't give 4 1/2, I gave them this rating because even though the price quoted was within my budget, it was on the high side of my budget, but that's the price of quality and they deserve 5 more than they deserve 4. read more

I had some bimini's that needed some snaps repaired. I asked when they would be done and even though it was a small job it was going to be a a couple weeks because it was spring and everyone's getting their boats ready. I was hoping to use the boat just short of two weeks and asked if they could get done that would be great. They said they would try. I got a call the next day!! Worst service ever. Bought a stereo and speakers. The AM/FM channels were not visible after only 1 year. Reception went static on most stations. Asked for a repair or replace and was told "that equipment is not made anymore we can't do anything about it" The antenna I bought fell apart. So basically I have no system in the truck at all again. I too am off to the big box store. I would rather support my local businesses but they make it very difficult to do so read more
