We worked so hard and the decoration was only up for about an hour.

If there was a way to rate 0 stars I would. I booked this place to have my son's very first bday party, y'all can imagine how excited I was since it had been planned for weeks. I booked a 5:30 to 7:30pm. Me and my family got to the place at 5:00pm to start unloading the food, snacks and dessert we made to celebrate his birthday. It was pouring rain. We were told we needed to wait outside because there was a whole another party going on until 05:00. The guests didn't leave until 05:10-05:15. At this point my hair it's all frizzy, my guests started to show up WITH NEWBORNS and it was raining. And we were STILL told nobody could go in until they "sanitized". Around 05:20 they finally let "mom and dad" in. I asked if my sister could come in instead of my husband since she was going to be the one decorating. They said no. She needed to wait 5 more minutes outside in the rain with my 7 month old nephew. Finally my husband gets upset and tells OUR family to at least walk into reception since we were 3 minutes before the "entrance" time. Then the staff proceeds to tell me that I can't have them inside and I need to tell them to go back outside for those extra 4 minutes or so. Excuse me what?! I am completely stressed out. More guests arrive and there I am, looking crazy, trying to decorate with everyone staring at me and my sister while we put up the balloons. It was embarrassing. When we're finally done setting up all the decor, one of the girls that works there tells me "so that I'm not confused", that they usually do cake and try to get everyone in one room by 6:35. It was 06:20. We had just got done decorating. They had nowhere to put up the piñata (even tho I went there 3 days before the party to make sure they knew I was bringing a piñata but somehow they had an inflatable in the piñata room). My husband ended up HOLDING the piñata while the kids pulled the strings. They sell in their website this "amazing birthday bash experience" well don't do it. It is not pleasant at all. The "energetic" staff isn't energetic at all, they were just starring at everyone looking awkward. They didn't "lead" any games. And they constantly "had to call their boss" to get answers. I wish I could get a refund for such a disaster. I am NEVER EVER EVER booking this place again. It is a total rip off.

    Having fun

They were all healthy, bright eyed, active and well socialized. Their enclosures were spacious, very clean, well maintained, species appropriate and provided enrichment. All encounters were careful to put animal and human safety first. I've worked in vetmed/animal rescue for 30 years so seeing animals well cared for and accustomed to their handlers gave me confidence Darby Farms is a place I can support. Now to the tour itself: Do it. Book it right now. You get SO MUCH for such a reasonable pric. We got two hours of personal interactions, petting and feeding, with over 30 species! Our guide Ryan was incredibly informative and knowledgeable, even taught us hardcore animal nerds some new facts we didn't know. He was skilled at handling even the squirmiest of creatures gently. It's absolutely magical to be able to touch and connect with animals I've only seen from behind glass in zoos. Thank you to Darby Acres for providing this unforgettable experience

We love zoos, but this was so much more…read morethan just staring at a bunch of animals behind bars - instead we had multiple opportunities to get up close, touch and feed the animals. In addition, some free range friends walked along with us humans on the tour and literally wanted to eat out of our hands. Our guides, Maddie and Shane, were fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable about the animals, and excellent at making sure everyone in the fairly sizable tour group had an opportunity to see or feed each animal they introduced. We bought the "Kit and Kaboodle" package which was so incredibly worth it! Some zoos allow you a "personal encounter" with one species, or by holding up an animal and letting you pet it,... but in the encounter room, Maddie and Shane spent an hour or more introducing us to at least 10 animals, all different species, in very interactive ways. We held armadillos, hand wrestled a mongoose, let a tiny monkey jump from shoulder to shoulder between us eating Fruit Loops, fed and high-fived otters, and so much more. I truly can't say enough about how happy we are that we included Darby Safari in our first ever trip to Charlotte!

ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center on Seventh Street downtown to name just three. Each has specialties that make them individuals. The ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center collaboration between the library district and the Children's Theatre is a hands down wonder. While some libraries specialize in library things (games and toys) to engage kids and others specialize in library materials (books and puzzles), ImaginOn has it all ... including plays and story times. The library itself is free to enter, multi-story, newish, clean and easy to get to, with available parking that is free for 90 minutes with a stamped ticket. This facility absolutely had everything to stimulate kids of all ages ... probably 2 to 12 being the sweet spot. Do make a point of finding your way here for a visit someday ... you'll be glad you did. Highly recommended.

I love that the Mecklenburg libraries have story times for various ages throughout the week…read more We've been coming here since February and my toddler loves it. There is always some sort of craft, legos, toys and computers for her to play with/use. They also usually have monthly events and a theater. I prefer to download the CMLibrary app to keep up with events. We prefer to come here on the Saturday's but it's definitely more packed. It's about 40ish families at every session. They have a parking garage (under the library) which you can take the elevator directly into the library. They validate for 90 minutes. The issue is when it's full or days they have events parking can really be a pain. They may direct you to park at 7th street parking garage but they only validate after 5pm on weekdays or anytime on weekends.
