Went to Ron & Jo's to buy an AR-15. I work for Illinois Dept. of Corrections, so the new law recognizes the Dept. of Corrections as law enforcement being able to buy the AR-15. They showed me a rifle once I provided my State ID and badge. But when I wanted to purchase the rile they asked me if I had "arresting rights" outside of the institution in which I didn't. So they decided I couldn't purchase the rifle. . . But the law is plain on its language of Illinois Dept of Corrections being able to purchase a semi-automatic rifle. Under Peace and Qualified Law Enforcement Officers. "Those section has also been amended to include Correctional Officers in Illinois, whether they be State or County". So for a gun business to pick and choose who gets to purchase by their standards an not by the standards of the law, let me know this business does not respect American citizens, the Illinois Laws and the Federal 2nd Amendment rights of an American Citizen. I will not patronize this business ever again. I drove to another gun shop that sold me the rifle with no problems whatsoever. read more

These guys are awesome. They do get busy as it is a small store, but given the chance they will help you as much as they can. They let me hold several firearms so I could get a feel for what to try at a range. They are very knowledgeable and I'll be sure to return. Thank you for your help. I went here to sell my late husband's firearms and the staff was very helpful and fair. They gave me a good deal for the value of the firearms I was selling. While I was there I looked around the shop to find it well stocked with hunting gear, accessories for firearms and a big variety of firearms. read more

Hands down the worst customer service every single time I've been there. They all act like they're better than their customers (if you can actually get one of them to speak to you at all) and condescend to you from start to finish. They are an absolute last resort for anything. Last straw was today when I stood in line for 30 minutes just to be able to go past the entrance and stand there for another almost 15 minutes while they all looked right at me and walked right past. They suck! I purchased a used Bersa .380 Thunder Plus with 2-magazines through the Gunbroker.com website. The transaction went smoothly for the most part. When i finally received the weapon, I gave it a quick inspection and it appeared to be fine, except the interior of the gun was moderately dirty. A week and a half later, I took it to my local gun range and I found out that the gun sights were misaligned. At 40 ft, the shots were placing 3-inches right of the center bullseye. Next thing, one of the magazines was causing my gun to jam or it causes the slide to lock after every single fire. When I attempted to bring to their attention, they gave me some BS answer of "we don't deal with the sights since it's a personal issue and it's left alone from the factory settings. Well....the factory didn't sight the rear sights 2-mm left of center of where it should be set. Also, they took no responsibility for the magazine jamming my gun. I ended up buying another 15-round magazine from a dealer, which set me back $63.00 Again....I overpaid for a broken gun. I don't recommend them. They're no better than a pawn shop! read more

They have the nicest people running this little gun shop. We never had been into here until the Mister bought raffle tickets for the Wounded Warrior project at the local VFW and won an amazing Colt .45. They were so nice and understanding for us out of state residents needing to get the FOID card in the mail. They have a good selection and are very knowledgeable. I found the building a little difficult to find because I didn't think it would be in a little strip of stores. Make sure you are looking very hard when looking for Ron & Jo's. read more

Best gun shop anywhere around! You can't beat the service and usually can't beat the price. They always have the newest and best guns and every time I go they have something new. The guys there are always extremely polite and incredibly helpful and you never have to deal with the obnoxious, know it all stubble beard "operator" type that make gun shopping annoying (cough cough Metro Shooting Supplies) if you get a chance stop by and just talk to these guys you won't regret it. read more
