Standard-sized women's hats never seem to fit me, and since all the hats I had ordered online were returned because they didn't fit, I decided to take a trip to the Hattery to invest in a well-fitting sunhat, even if it was more than I intended to spend. Well, all the hats in the store that I liked did not fit me, so after giving a description of the style I liked by comparing it to several hats in the store, the owner said he knew of a great hat, and that he would special order in a few for me to try, but that I should call him the next morning to remind him to place the order. He gave me his card, and I left. When I called him the next morning, he had no idea what I was talking about. I gave him a description of the hat I wanted, and he was totally baffled. He said I'd have to come back into the store. So I returned, in Saturday traffic, searching for a Georgetown parking spot. When I got to the store, he remembered me and said, "oh yeah, I already ordered the hat you wanted, it should be in next week." That was last month. Each time I called, he said he forgot to call the supplier and that he would call right then and there. Each subsequent time I called, he had "forgotten" to follow up with the supplier. Today was the last straw. I called him to ask him if the hat was available, he said, "I'll call them right now. Give me your number and I'll call you back in two minutes." Five hours later, nothing. I gave the owner of this store every opportunity for a sale. But because of his absentmindedness or just general incompetence, I'm giving up on the Hattery. I found an online vendor for the hat brand he said he was going to order in, and placed an order online. I hope it fits. Better luck to you all.

The only mildly weird hat in stock was a fisherman's cap with a built-in mullet--tufts of string blonde hair stapled to the inside. All I can say is that the hattery is a serious, upscale hatmaker (think Borsalino, Stetson, etc.) and it was foolhardy of me to blow $25 there on a costume hat. Next year, I went as the Mad hatter for halloween and fashioned my own hat, out of construction paper and a cardboard box, and it turned out better than anything the "Hattery" could sell me.

As it so turns out one of these items turned out to be defective ultimately requiring an exchange, This cost me another 30-mile round trip in DMV traffic. No issues there, i had the original receipt and it was a simple and painless exchange with the exception of staff side talk. Service - staff is present, waiting and at the ready. Like loss prevention and teenagers in a convenience store they are ready to pounce. it is uncertain if it is due to being such a small location or if it is out of sheer boredom but they are there to support and apply pressure if needed. Selection -they offer a decent selection of boots, buckles, hats, and western accessories. Much less than a large name brand store as you can imagine due to floor size and layout. Giving off a vibe like entering a large swap meet booth rather than a well established business that has been in the community for years. Value - Sadly extremely lacking and outright predatory. I was in the market for a pair of ostritch cowboy boots and my search ended with utter disappointed I discovered the product offered was well over priced compared to their competitors. A pair of boots listed online between $409.00 and $459,00 at WJ Colt's listed sales price of $609.99 with an additional "20% discount" before taxes were ultimately applied. The same pair of boots Original MSRP, were a laughable, $762.99 with a bright red X over it offering the illusion of a bargin. At such price points the items can continue to sit on the shelf until the right sucker comes along. Not today..

Again NO SIGNS YET which is sketchy. Why would LIDS be willing to completely shut down for a break at the height of the evening rush and again loose so many sales. DON'T GO HERE! Just went back to the shop yesterday -- here are some updates!…read more - The shop is open now on Sundays from 3-6 pm... and NOT open on Saturday from 12-3. Essentially its hours now are Thursday-Sunday 3-6 pm. Even if the door is locked, just knock and the shopkeeper will let you in. - The owner (Sylvia) is going to start transitioning the clothes to the spring season... coming in a couple of weeks or so! - On that note, the shop's strong suit are the accessories -- lots of nice cocktail hats/handbags/jewelry. Examine closely, because pretty much everything in there's for sale. - Starting next week she's going to start making prices static. Yeah, no more haggling, but at least it will be a lot less pressure for those who are uncomfortable with negotiating. In conjunction, some of the prices of the clothing will be adjusted... so maybe that amazing paillette jacket will be cheaper now? Also, I've learned something recently, having become acquainted with the owner. Y'know how it might be kind of intimidating/irritating when the shopkeeper tries to talk to you/make comments about what you're browsing? Well, I always found it that way. All in all, it's just the keeper trying to be friendly, not necessarily trying to pressure you into buying something. Ain't nothin' wrong with trying to be nice.

We were searching for a Lakers jersey and the clerk said they had one they just sold. So, as far as selection goes they didn't have too much. They did have a lot of hats/caps and stickers for your car, etc. It seemed like they had a lot more football jerseys than NBA jerseys, too. The clerk was very friendly and tried hard to sell us on what he had so I give them some props for salesmanship. If they just could clean the place up a little and maybe make it a little brighter it would probably have more appeal. I'm sure they could have ordered something for us but since we don't live in that neighborhood we wanted something right then. If you live close by and are looking for something in particular and they don't have it, it seems like they'd be more than willing to make sure you get it. For what we needed though it didn't have a great selection.
