Went there recently to rent a tux for a weekend black-tie event. I had my measurements taken promptly, tried on a jacket, shirt, pants, and shoes, and within 20-30 minutes was all set to pick up the tux in a few days. Pickup went smoothly, though I tried the jacket and pants on to be sure, and I looked great. Returning it was as easy as dropping off. Brian and Dorian were not only excellent but above and beyond. I landed at 5pm and was at the store by 6pm to get fitted for an event the next day. My tuxedo was ready by 10:00am the next day. It fit and looked great. I asked for a barber shop that could clean me up before the ever . Dorian recommended a place near by that was wonderful. Needed a unique tux for an out-of-town wedding and tried Lustre for the first time. Tony did a great job listening to the need, discussing different options, taking the measurements and clearly communicating the process and timing. When I went back to pick up the tux, a slight alteration was still needed to extend the trouser legs and Tony took care of that in the moment. TL;DR: Brian is the man -- and he will hook you up, fast. And you will look good. I was in a room full of $2,000 tuxedos, and I was getting compliments. Boom. Longer version: I called Brian on Wednesday asking for a tuxedo on Saturday during one of the busier weekends of the year in DC. His response? No problem. I was in and out of the store in an hour. I haven't worn a tuxedo in years. I think I look like a sack of potatoes in a suit. I'm dreading going to this event on Saturday, but I kept thinking to myself, at least I can look ok. But I looked better than OK -- Brian was not only able to rent me everything that I needed, he was able to get the pants exactly the right length (I am very square, and pants typically turn out too long or too short). He knew my shirt size when I walked into the dressing room. Everything was super easy from start to finish. Pictures turned out great, and I no longer felt like I looked like a sack of potatoes (although to be fair, that was also probably the alcohol talking). AND the price was right. Literally the Yelp definition of "as good as it gets." Best tuxedo rental place in DC. In December 2018 I had a formal event to go to and needed to rent a quality tux. Lustre Formal Wear did a great job in helping me. To be sure, at first glance the shop is not fancy and is not "polished."It does not give off the fancy appearance of some of the clothing chains. However, the staff were very friendly and helpful and courteous. They gave me good advice, and were forthright about what might work better among the choices available. They do seem to have a variety of good options in various price ranges. They did a great job in taking careful measurements; ordering the tux and the miscellaneous stuff; and working with me to make sure everything was in good shape before I left on the pick-up day. They were also very friendly on the drop off day. And I also believe they charged a fair price. I was very pleased with the tux and got some nice compliments about it. If I need a tux in the future, I will definitely be going back to them. They mostly do tux rentals and clearly know what they are doing. In that way, I think they offer some experience and expertise that are lacking from some of the more conventional options for tux rentals. I understand that they can work with folks on a rush basis. Short: Quick, reasonably priced, nice staff, but check your tuxedo and accessories thoroughly before you leave to make sure you are getting what you want. Long: I needed a tuxedo to attend a formal event. I came to Lustre on a Saturday afternoon and was treated quickly by a friendly and competent gentleman. I reiterated several times that I preferred certain features (e.g. slit pockets instead of flap). I picked up the rental a few days later. It was late and they were closing, so I just checked very quickly that everything was there, and tried on only the jacket. Later, upon a closer inspection, I realized almost everything I was given was either quite old and/or not what I had requested. The suspenders in particular were in rough shape. Fortunately, everything did fit, and probably only I noticed some of the inferior features, but I still felt less well-dressed than I would have preferred, which is a bit part of what I was hoping to get out of the experience of renting from Lustre. When I pointed out the suspenders' poor quality upon returning, they were thrown out, and I was given a partial refund without asking. Even before that, the price was fair. So, if I was buying or renting again, I would return here, but would try everything on fully to ensure that I am getting what I requested. read more

BEST tuxedo rental in Washington DC period. Last week was the second time that I needed a tuxedo in short notice / emergency (for that same day). I went again to Lustre Formal Wear right around noon and did they step up to the plate. Brian Grozbean (manager) helped me personally, and after measuring and finding right size, trying, etc., etc., he had me ready to go with my amazing tuxedo in exactly 30 minutes. Not only that, but rental price was amazingly reasonable (about half of what other DC tuxedo places would charge). Brian and their staff are incredibly attentive and responsive as he literally dropped off what he was working on to assist me with my "emergency", and quite frankly, you will not find a nicer person to work with. I had used other places such as Men's Wearhouse a while back but I definitely will never use them as they are not even close in customer service as to what Lustre provides. To top everything off I returned my tuxedo on Tuesday (two days late) and they did not charge me any late fees (other places such as M.W. will charge you $100/day) Lustre Formal Wear does not have the fancy shop and facilities Men's Wearhouse and other places do. Do not be turned off by it because what matters is the outstanding customer service, price, and quality they provide. You simply can't go wrong with them. read more

These guys rock. I found out at the last minutes I needed to rent a tuxedo. Most other places told me they had to ship it in from their warehouse after letting me wait for 20-30 minutes. I found these guys online. They were exactly as advertised. I walked in and they had me fitted out in 10 minutes. They even had the color vest and tie I was looking for. You would think a last minute tux from a shop on Capitol Hill would be pricey. Not even close. These guys hooked me up for a lot less than I thought I was going to pay. AND they are open on Sundays. I decided to attend my senior prom last minute and needed a tuxedo. The day before the prom I called and was told I could get fit for and receive a tuxedo in time for prom the next day (other stores had told me this was not possible). So the next day I went in early in the morning and was fitted, I think by Brian (who was extremely kind), and a few hours later (some changes needed to be made given my measurements) I had a tuxedo! It had everything I needed and fit wonderfully. It was $150 which I think was extremely fair for a same-day fitting, editing, and rental. It was hard for me to return the very next day (a Friday), but I called and was told that Saturday would be fine--even Sunday! In summary, the service was kind, helpful, and very generous; and I was fitted for and received an attractive tuxedo within a several hours. read more
