Do not buy from them!!! I bought someone Yeezys for a Christmas gift. I got the size that they recommended. My wife tried them on at Christmas and they are too small. Contacted Major and they aren't willing to trade for the correct size. So now I'm stuck with some $230 shoes that she can't even wear. And now it's sad that I have to hope that I can sell them and of course I'll be losing out on money. I tried to support them as this was my 2nd pair of Yeezys from there. For the sneaker heads, sneaker freaks. Tons of colors, air jordans, retro classics. Mostly men shoes, though they also sell boy/kid sizes (for smaller feet). Expect to pay higher prices for the unique styles. I wish more of these styles came in women's, but that's a dream for the entire sneaker world. One can dream! MajorDC posted on Instagram the they had the YEEZY DSRT BOOT in store. I could not get there right away, but I found a time in the middle of my busy day to make it work. I called to make sure they were still available, and they said they were. When I showed up, they told me they were charging $250: $50 or 20% over retail. They did not indicate this on IG or over the phone. I did not get them and they wasted my time. When I criticized them on Instagram for charging significantly over retail, they blocked me. This place is bizarre and rude. I don't wanted to buy a pair of shoes I'd spotted in the window. I was wearing heels. I was allowed to try on the left shoe but not the right. When I asked why he said it was because they want them to be even. That's awesome ridiculous. How can I tell whether a pair of shoes actually fits until I'm able to walk in them on both feet. I tagged along with the boyfriend yesterday to check out this street wear shop. He seemed pretty impressed with the selection & the prices. They had a lot of t-shirts & shoes. All I could think about was how small & cramped the shop was & how stuff was just packed onto racks & tables. Clearly upon a look to the back was cardboard boxes, which I'm sure was more merchandise with no home. Because of the design, I saw how it was necessary to have 2 workers in there. As exposed by the rest of the reviews here on Yelp, Major is lacking in customer service and their inelegant effort to make an extra dollar on general release sneakers is deplorable. Having been to their original location (which was right across the street) I already expected hiked up prices but I decided to check out their new store anyway, as I was in the area. My mindset going in was that if they had anything unique that interested me, I would have no problem spending a little over retail and giving them my business. That feeling didn't last very long into my brief venture there. Seeing as though they had some Nike skateboarding-esque style sneakers, I asked a young asian woman working there if they would be receiving the Nike SB Parra Dunks which would be releasing the following day. She tells me she must ask another employee because she doesn't know. While waiting to hear back from her I look around and find a couple pairs of sneakers that mildly intrigued me. Unfortunately nowhere on the display shoes could I find a price tag. This turned me off from wanting to inquire about them, knowing how they can be unreasonable with prices there. The young woman who I asked about the SB Dunks disappeared but there appeared a young asian man behind the counter. I go up to him and ask the same question. He scoffs at me, and in a tone replies, "We're not a skate shop" WELL no s***. Good luck competing with amazing, legit stores like UBIQ just down the street with that kind of customer care. As far as the legality of their prices, it's possible their contracts state that the MSRP of a product is simply a suggestion. Their claim that they're hiking prices to prevent reselling is absolutely fake news. Based on other reviews their main customers seem to be friends of the owners and I'm willing to bet they're all resellers. Even if that weren't the case, what good is hiking the price of their products to ~resell prices~ if that's what they're trying to prevent. There's no logical conclusion other than them simply being greedy and wanting an additional cut of what their resellers are gonna make. 90% of their merchandise can be purchased at a much better price on StockX, but if you're the type of person who likes to see and feel the shoes before buying them, check these guys out before going on StockX as they'll give some good ideas of what to buy. I bought 5 pairs of shoes for my kids for Christmas, as well as hats and shirts. I spent thousands of dollars. One pair of shoes wasn't what my son wanted, and I went in to trade in as they were 300 dollars. I brought them in to exchange them and brought them in in the original box and unworn, and was told I couldn't exchange due to to one scratch on outside of box, and that I would have had to come in the day after Christmas. The owners are great people and are very professional despite other reports. Most people are mad over not being able to return or exchange products but it makes sense. They very clearly state their rules and if you can't follow them that's your fault. They do a great job on shoe releases and keep a high selection of shoes in the store. So here's the thing, sneaker shops are far and few out here in the DMV. I've been to 3 or 4 releases at their shop and have consistently experienced the same problems: 1. Resellers - This shop does nothing to stop these toxic people. Always the same groups of guys leaving their chairs out the night before and ONLY buying the smaller sizes (as they have more resell value). That problem is not exclusive to this store, but the issue is their lack of enforcing store rules to end the problem. Examples that other stores do: For special releases, make the buyer wear the shoe out of the store, harder to resell DS. Only allowed to buy the same shoe size that you're wearing. If it can't fit, it's not yours to buy. Hell, or just do raffles and no FCFS, where nobody feels cheated by the resellers who leave their chairs the night before. 2. Sketchy employees - Plain and simple, they have employees who hook up their friends in line and lie about inventory. Boss man, why don't you just keep the sizes behind you? A previous release I needed a 9 or 8.5 (as that's my size and wanted to wear it out the door). The guy two people behind me in the line was texting the dude bringing out the inventory, and even called him asking what sizes there were and that he needed a 9 or 8.5. I get inside and the employee says they don't have anymore. I say I'm pretty sure I heard outside there are still some more left, and what do you know? There "magically" was an 8.5 now. Get rid of these kids, or get in charge of your own business, your customers are literally waiting in line for your own employees to backdoor pairs right in front of us. 3. Inflated prices - This one is the first store I've ever seen have the audacity to do this. On big releases they'll jack up the price of the shoes to make some extra profit. Example: Today was the Air Jordan 1 "Couture" release. Retail was $175. How much were they at Major? $220. What was the excuse? To "stop resellers"....that the owners wife claimed took all the most profitable reselling sizes up front of the line. So you're now left just charging everyone else more, the people who actually want shoes? Okay. Makes sense. 4. Poor communication/business ethics - That said above leads me to this one, poor communication. They do not EVER disclose the inflated prices before-hand. When do you find out? After you wait hours in the cold, the moment you get to the register. They basically refuse to take inquiries and are never transparent. Plan on waiting for a sneaker release? Just stay home. They open later than every other sneaker shop, and don't even start helping a little early on big releases, you will be waiting until 11 on the dot, and not a minute earlier. We're already waiting 3-4 hours or more, why not get there a little earlier and help get your line moving so we can all go home? I'll tell you why, because they care more about the "supreme" effect of having a long line for hours so they seem like a bigger store than they are. Poor business ethics if you value looks over customer satisfaction. In summary, Major has potential, it's small and I do believe they might have some good intentions for the sneaker community, but they're disconnected with the reality of how their customers feel, and are surrounded with employees who are dishonest and backdoor right in front of you. You have a lot to work on, and I truly hope you take this feedback constructively. As of right now though, to any potential customer, your time is better served elsewhere. If you do come, prepare to pay more than retail, and likely not even get a size you wear because the size 14 resellers who left their chairs out the day before are going to take your size right in front of you after 4 hours of waiting so they can make $40 of profit. This shop doesn't do a single thing for genuine sneaker heads, I hope that changes. read more

I will never spend another dollar at this sneaker boutique after my recent purchase. I was on the hunt for an Adidas shoe that was a general release but had since sold out in my size online since it's release date two weeks ago. MAJOR had the shoe and up-charged it by $30! I asked why the online price was $10 less, the floor staff then went on to tell me they had one price for in-store and another for online. (BOGUS!) So I asked to try on the shoe and was given a hard time along with a lecture as to why there's a trend of resellers now and blah blah blah. The floor staff then said I could try it on BUT should pay for it first. If it didn't fit or if I didn't like it on-foot basically a sale would still be made. Did I mention there's NO REFUNDS or EXCHANGES. All sales are FINAL. The Customer Service is terrible and those that frequent here come for the hype. read more

I told her I saw online the msrp was $180 and showed her Champs webpage on my phone. She replied "We follow Adidas website. It's $245! You go to Champs!" I live with a guy who has a major shoe collection. The Nike's he bought in 1997 (!) are still wearable and immaculate and not a month goes by that he's not coveting a new pair. We were both pretty excited when Major opened with a slew of other shoe/urban stores in the District. Major deeply stocks Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Alife, and a handful of other shoe brands, as well as an equally deep stock of urban (and largely brightly-hued) sweatshirts, t-shirts, and baseball caps. What I don't love about Major is the major crowding the store has undergone since its opening. The chic-and-sparse stock (seen in the accompanying Yelp review photos) has given way to shoes and clothing crammed tightly on and in every clear surface in the store. I used to think the unsightly cardboard boxes and haphazard back of the store was me visiting when they just received a shipment. It's clear, however, that the store is always askew like that these days. There may be more to see, but it's not easy to shop. Maybe the Georgetown location (and rent!) necessitates quantity over quality, and I will credit the guys working at Major with knowing their stock (they can, for example, tell you they had a specific selection of gloves in but are sold out) but end up highly indifferent about helping you locate a special item, or knowing when that item might come back into stock. I prefer to hit up Commonwealth where the staff is nicer, equally knowledgeable, and the selection is well-edited and not crammed into a tiny space. read more

I never usually leave yelp reviews, but my experience with MAJOR on Saturday (2/23) has inclined me to do so. I do not have a problem with people trying to resell. While I disagree with the owner and employees clearly hooking up their friends, this also doesn't bother me if at the very least I can get a pair in my size. Here is what gets me. MAJOR will charge you MORE than the retail price of certain shoes. I wanted a size 11 of the new Air Jordan 1 "Coutures". This is not a size that typically "resells", either way I waited in line for about 2-3 hours hoping I could pick up my size and wear that day. I finally get into the store after it started to rain and wouldn't you know it, they're charging $220 for a $175 shoe. This is an absolute slap in the face to the DMV sneaker community. This wouldn't be a problem if they would let you know ahead of time. If you try to ask about price or sizes before hand, they'll refuse claiming its to stop resellers. MAJOR will let you line up, wait for hours, and try to rip off true sneakerheads right at the register. They might claim this is all to stop resellers, but there are PLENTY of other methods that don't include them ripping off the community. With sneaker shops so limited in the DMV, it's sad to see. You're better off giving your business to UBIQ until MAJOR addresses this serious issue. read more

Walked into the store today. A sign out front said open and the door was of course open. I went in, immediately had an employee ask if I have an appointment to which I said no but told her it says youre open out front. She was rude the entire time, didn't even try to be cordial or nice about any thing. I went outside, she followed and said see it says appointment only and pointed to a small handwritten note on their door that I hadn't noticed as it was covered in multiple other signs. It was easy to miss. Ok, fine my bad but she was Incredibly unprofessional regardless. I also wouldn't have a problem with it if google didn't have an update from the owner that said they are accepting walk ins on Fridays and Saturdays. Also I wouldn't have a problem if there was anyone else in the store but it was empty. I had enjoyed coming here pre covid but I will not be returning after this. read more

Great selection of shoes and exclusive Jordan/Nike accounts are a plus. The store is a mess half the time (inventory they have not put away yet) and the customer service is not as welcoming as Commonwealth. They upcharge like crazy. For example, with the Questloves. Major charged like $260 while Commonwealth charged $225 (retail-like price). Another question for Major is why they start doing raffle auctions for the Air Yeezys? Doesn't that go against their primary mission when they first opened? One upside is the owner is willing to chat if you catch him during the week. He is also willing to show you next season previews of New Era fitteds and other gear they have samples of. The prices are getting higher every year from this place though. read more

Major is all about one word: selection. Looking through the glass windows you can see custom-built shelves displaying all manner of crazy sneakers, and once you enter the store you discover a back area *literally overflowing* with more shoes. There is no other place in DC with such a massive collection of sneakers, and if you're in Georgetown and looking for some outrageous new kicks, Major is the place to go. TEMPORARY SNEAKERHEAD DIGRESSION: Although personally I like Commonwealth better because they have lower prices and friendlier employees, Major definitely beats them on selection. Major is the only DC account to carry The Hundreds, HUF SF, Lemar and Dauley, and many other labels you constantly read about on the blogs. Moreover, they release their own New Eras about one-per-month, including exclusive (and very well-designed) Washington Nats hats, design tons of DC-exclusive stuff, and even collaborate on designs with brands like Nike and Adidas (see the very cool Major DC X Adidas ZX-600's). /end sneakerhead digression. I would probably actually rate Major closer to 3.5 due to very high prices: some of the items that both Major and Commonwealth carry are up to $15 more at Major, but I ended up with 4 stars because of the great selection, the daily-updated blog on their website, and the well-designed store that is a pleasure to look around. Even if the prices are prohibitive, it's still a really fun place to visit. Stay MAJOR! read more

I went into Major on a whim- I didn't think it was open, as the whole floor was covered with boxes, but the owner called from the back and informed me they were restocking....And what a stock it is: knowledge, orisue, freshjive, DC, nike, puma, adidas- any progressive/innovative independent or corporate company and they've got it... I had a great conversation with the owner- young, intelligent fellow- about the pros and cons of NikeID's new dunk high program and found him knowledgeable and passionate. For fans of Karmaloop and SF's Villains, this is about the closest thing we have in DC sneaker-wise (Admittedly I haven't yet checked out District 51). Unfortunately, because of its location, the clientele is your typical Georgetown collar popper that just recently discovered BET. My advice: bring an iPod to drown out the loudmouthed suburban poseurs desperately trying to draw from their top 40 listening background to sound hip-hop, and enjoy DC's best selection of kicks. I went to this store when the yeezy boost 350 turtledoves dropped a few months ago to see if I could snag a pair. The employee told me they were all sold out, but then asked me how bad i wanted them. When I responded I wanted them badly, he asked if I "wanted them $900 bad." I laughed and walked out of the store. No retail store should be more than quadrupling the price (the shoes retailed at $200) of their goods. It's a crime, no matter how valuable those shoes are on the after-sale market. If he wasn't an employee of the store, the store shouldn't have let him represent himself as such. They told all about 20 of us standing in line to come back at 2 when they would open sales to public about 7 of us waited like any person vulnerable to a person telling them the truthBut everyone of us were lied to. DC finally gets a sneakerhead shop! The location isn't in the ideal center of georgetown, but it's worth the extra trek up wisconsin past the fake versace shops to get to Major. They don't have a big sign on the shop so check for their logo on the door. Nice selection of old school and limited edition nike's, etc. read more
