I came here twice looking to purchase a surf board. After browsing the boards for about 15 minutes a sales person finally offered assistance. I told them generally what I was looking for and their response was something like, "Well there are a lot of surf boards over there (points at dozens surf boards)." No details about the boards, or other questions about my surf preferences. Basically the sales people were no help at all and both times were nearly identical experiences. If you want to experience a piece of Cocoa Beach tourism and have a wide variety of mass produced surf art and surf clothing, then go to Ron Jons. But if you are looking for a custom experience and want high quality service that you would expect from a $600+ dollar purchase, then go to a local small business surf shop like Neilson's. read more

Both a place you must stop at when you're in Cocoa Beach, and a total rip-off. It's fun to get lost exploring and, of course, you can do it at 3am if you want. This store is filled to the brim with surf gear, beach toys, and bathing suits. However, you will leave broke if you buy anything here, since everything is ridiculously overpriced. If you want to see something funny and sad, watch the 50 year old, leathery tanned women trying on the juniors clothing. Kinda given it 4 stars just for being open 24 hours in the South. The art out front is terrible but there's a picture spot with surfboards on the north, cocoa beach pier side of the building and the woodie wagons are cool. But it's clean, friendly and huge. Prices are may'be typical to 10% above what you can find elsewhere, except the surfboards are affordable (although they only have thrusters) and their swim fins are $10 cheaper than what you'd find in a sports store. They have a rental shop next door if you need a beach cruiser, surfboard, etc. for the day and the woman there is SUPER COOL. Parking seems plentiful during non-summer time and they have some historical stuff like old balsa boards, pictures, framed newspaper articles and a tiny museum featuring women surfers. It's a nice place for surfers and non-surfing beach goers, worth popping by if you're close. read more

Ron Jon's embodies all that is Florida. Over-sized tacky to the extreme? Check! Valuable real estate wasted on tourism? Check! Thousands of worthless items that have "Florida" written on them? Check! Have I been there before? Check! I am a fan of most things Florida, and used to live only a few miles from this monstrosity. To this day, my favorite T-Shirt is a threadbare Ron Jon's T. So, if you are in the neighborhood, go inside and take it all in. Just don't take it too seriously. read more

Ron Jon Surf Shop is a wonderful place to visit in Cocoa Beach! The store is very modern, clean, has an amazing amount of friendly and helpful employees and provides free parking! The prices are reasonable and the selection of items is outstanding. One particular great value is the sun screen and lip balms. This is something I really appreciate as it is an item that can be an essentially needed item for tourists that other shops will charge way to much for, but not at Ron Jon. We have now stepped into Ron Jon's 3 times during our vacation and twice walked out. We chose to go at different times of day in hopes of seeing less people maskless. Several shoppers with no masks and many not wearing them properly. The staff says nothing! They had no hand sanitizer at the stations we tried. Wow! The biggest surf shop I have ever seen. While much of the store is filled with tourist type trinkets, there is a massive selection from billabong, Volcom, O'Neill, quicksilver and others. Plus, they have a great selection of surfboards for sale anywhere from $300-$500. read more

It's a very big surf shop, though, from what I can tell, it's mostly selling souvenirs to people who come here thinking they're at an iconic surf shop, not a souvenir stand. Confusing. Seeing as how I know nothing about surfing, and have little intention to learn, I came here because it was the main attraction in the area (too poor to afford the Kennedy Space Center? Come to Ron Jon's). I got a pair of shorts. They were reasonably priced. The end. I am skeptical of this place's authenticity today, given that there are billboards all over the interstates. Come here if you really need a shirt or some of souvenir that says "Florida" or Ron Jon on it. Otherwise, there's really no need to shop here. It's full of crap and trinkets and lots of tourists who think this place is a must-see on their vacation. I don't know why it's a must-see. I bought a couple of dresses...a little overpriced...a boogie board thingy, rashguard, flops, and a power balance bracelet. Had to check into this shrine to all things surfy on my last trip to central Florida. Wow, a gleaming multi-story megastore greets me from Route 1A! Was kinda tricky to park in the limited "free parking" areas around Ron Jon, but I found a meter nearby as I knew I was only going to be here for a half-hour or less. I expected an explosion of merchandising in the form of loud t-shirts, keychains, ballcaps, towels, etc. and found that in spades. However, I was fairly impressed that they still seem to try to stay true to their roots and offered quite a selection of surf and skate-branded clothing and merchandise. They also had a good selection of Caribbean/tropical shirts, shorts, shoes and hats from Tommy Bahama and other brands of the genre. If you're a bit of a tiki nut like I am, there is a nice selection of faux polynesian bric-a-brac around as well. Think nautical fish netting, tiki statues and nautical/tropical string lights. If I were building a tiki lounge in the area, this would be home base for supplies! Definitely qualifies as a tourist trap, but also definitely worth at least one visit. The staff were friendly and threw in a bunch of free stickers with my purchase. Good times. read more

They have actually stepped on on getting sweet boards at decent prices as well as pretty cheap rash guards vests etc. Also mention your a Floridian and you get a discount. I've been coming to Cocoa Beach for years now and never get tired of my annual stop at Ron Jon's Surf Shop. Ron Jon is 2 floors of beach lovin fun! Flip flops, frisbees, boards, tanning oil, shades, shirts. I love the wide variety of bikinis they have there! So many patterns, varieties to choose from. Certainly cannot find them as cute in Michigan! I was here a few days ago and a nice lady was giving away free 'spring break survival kits'. Shampoo, conditioner, quality razor, pepto bismol, and deodorant. Free Stuff! Perfect! Everything for the beach and surfing except plane tickets, and stuff you wouldn't think of. Went there after 10:30pm on post cyber Monday, not crowded, to put it mildly. Billabong, Rip Curl, Quicksilver, all the classics, and stuff I never saw before. It's definitely gone cor-por-rate big time. ( bigly - haha ) Did you know vinyl records are coming back? There is an hotel right next to Ron Jons and another surf shop (cheaper) right next door, so you don't know from one door to the next where you are Summary- Parking at Ron Jons if you plan to spend the day at the beach in convenient if you can find a spot. It allows you to walk about ¼ mile to the beach access and then visit the store before and after visiting the beach, return to the store if you realize you forgot something you may need at the beach, sun block, chairs, towels or umbrellas, just to name a few. Also, when you leave the beach, you can walk to the center of Ron Jons and use the showers to get the sand off your feet and body before getting into your car which is nice. It is close to a few eateries and hotels and is open 24 hours if you dare to visit during a time when most of the other beach goers are sleeping. You have to see it to believe it, it is a very large very stocked store, but very pricey for even the non budgeting beach goers. I would recommend adding this to your list of places to visit should you make the trip to Cocoa Beach. read more

It's now part of our little surf town, and when friends visit we go with them. Kinda fun once a year. I will admit that I couldn't find the beach chairs I wanted to buy my wife anywhere else but here. So, yes, you need the Ron Jon shirt, buy it. If you're a tourist, of course, you gotta swing through it. I don't own a Ron Jon shirt (now) but when I lived in other states, I always had some. Actually, many. Late night shopping here is a blast, every type of beach gear you can image from average priced surf boards, to those in the thousands. Sunglasses, shoes, swimwear, beach toys, mugs, caps, skateboards, longboards, the stock is dizzying! With 2 floors of clothing and gear, you can spend some major time and money in here. We walked out with all new swimwear for our family of 5, a boogie board, a skim board, shoes, buckets to build castles with and of course a handful of Ron Jon stickers that now adorn my children's bedroom doors. I prefer to support the independent shops, but in a pinch I was out of wax and my friend, whom just moved to Florida wanted to stop in here. This is a one stop tourists trap. However, I was pleased with the great selection of wax, sunblock that I needed. Parking is easy and plentiful (as I was here on a weekday).
