This spot is overwhelming. You walk in and it's a dizzying array of stuff. Could use some signage i.e. shoes over here - bathing suits over here. It was a hunt to find what we needed! (perhaps they like when we wander?) The outside building looks similar to the palace of a North Korean Dictator. There's a confusing mix/mash of Ron Jon shops/branded stores in the area. There's like a surf shop over here - rentals over here - a shop over here - parking over here. Stoner voice: "Where's the shooooop mahnnnnn?" Pro-tip: Was told I couldn't use a coupon code. I was like, "why?" They're like "We were told we can't." I was like "Try." She's like, "no". I'm like "Yes." She did it and it worked. Get your discounts, yo! read more

For starters this is an amazing place. Very cool stuff here. However limited on extended sizes so it's a little sucky for us bigger people. It's not easy to mozey around on a scooter do to all the stairs on first floor. They do offer an elevator for the second floor trip which made it easier to go to the rest room. No infant swim suites available. Women's bathing suits go to a 22 in limited styles. Great selection of flip flops. All different brands. Definetly worth a stop. Don't pass it up. Make sure to grab you an awesome beach towel they don't cost much more than walmart ugly ones so why not get a fancy Ron Jon one. Be careful for parking it gets a little confusing being that we needed up in bus parking at first. GPS might guide you in the wrong way so pay attention to the Ron Jon parking signs. Update: I have adjusted my original rating of two stars based on the quick and professional response by Ron Jon and its staff to my post regarding the lack of female representation in their coloring book. I am genuinely impressed by the immediate response and what I believe will be an honest attempt to incorporate a more diverse representation of athletic women in their products. I received more than one response to my concern and hope this issue will be addressed as they have stated. I look forward to seeing the newest and amended version of the coloring book. ******* This is not about the store. It is about a disappointing product selection and lack of oversight or perhaps insight. My sister is a long-time surfer who has been competing on and off for years. Her love of surfing and the beach tends to spill over into her gift giving. Today my daughter received as a gift from your store, branded by YOUR store: Doodle Life: zen coloring art for everyone - We're All Swimming in the Same Sea. I thought nothing of handing it to my kid (who loves the beach). As I put it away I scrolled through the pictures and noticed a disappointing trend. With the exception of the SINGLE mermaid, there are no females represented surfing. Not one. Of the eight actual human forms in the pages, one is female and it is the requisite topless mermaid with long hair. C'mon Ron Jon, try a little harder. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure most coloring books are sold to girls and women, and you couldn't bother to sling a few females in the book they are coloring? This is a unfortunate way to ignore and undervalue a strong branch of your target market. Seriously disappointed. read more

I remember back years ago when RONJOHNS was a wooden shack. a little high priced and touristy but over all, reminded me back to the good ole days when life wasn't about cutting peoples throats. This is the Mecca of all surf shops. It is 52,000 square feet of everything you could possibly want for beach fun. Be prepared to spend an inordinate amount of time perusing their wares. If you have little kids, double that amount because they will be enamored with all that glitters of beach fun. The shop is open 24 hours a day and they have plenty of staff to assist you in making your purchase. I lost my sunglasses the day before in the surf and picked up a new pair of Peppers. I had never heard of the brand but the sales person sold me with his knowledge. Polarized, lifetime warranty against scratching or breaking, and THEY FLOAT!! All for a third of the price of the Maui Jim's I put in Davey Jones Locker. Stop in and see what Ron has to offer, it's on the corner of A1A and Hwy 520, you can't miss it. read more

AHHHH! Tourist trap! Run Away! Well maybe not run away, more of browse, look at the all the over-priced clothes that have their brand name slapped all over them. Or pick over the multitude of little nicky-knacks, key chains, mugs, toys, trinkets, and beach towels. However they do have lots of surf equipment, rental jet skis, boats, etc. You can find some fun stuff in here and it is a good place to escape the heat. Warning!! Tourist Trap! This shop has grown exponentially over the decades. Not only do they sell T-shirts but everything esle beachy you can imagine. Be prepared to get ripped off though... I was browsing their earbuds/headphones and used my phone to price compare- waaaaaay cheaper online! I was also browsing for some clothes (particularly shorts/pants) but all I could find were booty shorts and a lot of tops. Kind of disappointing. I was dragged in by a co-worker who said everyone goes to Ron Jon's. I came, I saw, and I never want to go back. There's to much junk to lure in kids who have no money but want to be like their friends and have a "cool" t-shirt. Save your money and go to the local thrift store where you'll find hundreds of nice surfing themed t-shirts at a quarter of the price. At the original Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach, FL. Well, I'm not sure if this the original because the store seems brand new and its huge but I'm pretty sure it's the original location. Great selection of surf and beach gear. Staff are friendly and knowledgable; they spent an hour going through various sun glasses with my step-father who didn't buy anything! Great place. I'm a local, and even though we don't like to admit it, I shop here quite frequently. Always ask for the "secret" Florida resident or local resident discount of 15%, which brings the prices down to a more reasonable level. i grew up here. well, not literally. but still, every spring break, my family would make an almost annual pilgrimage down to cocoa beach. we would spend a good amount of that time each year going through ron jon's aisles, either through one of their midnight sales or outside of their store, where they used to (meaning twenty years ago) sell fresh squeezed orange juice in single glasses and half gallon cartons. ron jon's is synonymous with a cool mega superstore of everything surf and beach and florida athleticism. even just the mere sight of its front picture on ron jon's yelp page makes me feel a longing for a nerf football, perhaps some new suit shorts, fresh-squeezed florida-sunshine-grown orange juice, and my cocoa beach home. read more

I came to Ron Jons, which is technically the closest tourist trap to where my sister lives, to buy a rash guard. I'd love to say that I surf (which unfortunately I don't) but it was an essential commodity to protect my shoulders and back from burning while standing in the pool in the hot Florida sun while my niece and nephew, who are learning how to swim, swam between me and the wall. My wife wouldn't let me take the picture of the nice lady the shop hired to spray herself with water while wearing a thong. I purely wanted the picture for this yelp review :-). We went there to get towels, beach chairs and umbrellas but when we found out that we would have to haul them to the beach we decided not to get them. We drove from Orlando to shop at this store. Even though we arrived late at night (almost midnight) the customer service we received from Angela was top notch! She was so informative and helpful. She encouraged us to stop on the beach before we left and it was beautiful. We were very impressed by the quality and prices of the clothing there. My uncle has brought me shirts from Ron Jons pretty much all my life on his yearly trips to Florida. I was happy to be return the gesture some 30+ yrs later. Place was huge and open 24 hrs. Can't speak on anything other than t shirts price wise they were on par with some of the other gift shops selling shirts. This place is so much fun! They have lots of cute swimwear, beachwear, and normal clothes, but also random stuff like headphones, bikes, room decoration, blown glass, and fun souvenirs! Yeah - We love Ron Jons and we live here and still visit it for sweatshirts and CHEAP boogie boards. They even have kid sizes (cheaper than Wal-Mart too). I always pick up Florida stuff to send for Christmas and I love RJ's because none of it is cheap fall apart junk - it's all pretty good quality stuff. Dog friendly establishment. Staff is out standing. Dog treats at customer service. Never had a bad experience at Ron Jons. Surf board has held up for three plus years despite many FIT college students using the board. Owners cars that are parked out from are not only art work they are driven. Seen them on A1A many times. So it's pretty much a beach bum's mecca. Surf gear, boards, and swim wear are pretty much everywhere in this two-story, 24-hour a day place. Their pricing is good for house-brand items -- but you can find most of the other merchandise at other surf shops in the area for a tad bit cheaper -- or find it online at a discount. But then you loose the cache of saying you bought it at Ron Jon's -- so maybe that is worth something. Overall, worth a stop when you are in Cocoa Beach. read more

Over-hyped and over-priced. Not impressed by thousands of T-shirts boldly advertising Ron Jon's for which customers are privileged to pay big bucks. Now I know why a new manager here was able to buy a million $ plus home on the House Hunters show. Lots of touristy crap here. They do have a fairly serious selection of boards, but how many do you need? And why this place has to be open 24 hours a day is beyond my understanding. How many people just have to have a Ron Jon shirt at 3 a.m.? Seems like a waste of staffing and electricity to keep the place open. I'm local and every time I go to Cocoa I stop in here. Main reason: the free parking at their store. Its right on the beach so its a good place to park. The catch is you havta get there early so that you dont havta walk far - after 10 a.m. the spots get all filled up. After hitting the beach, it's good to stroll inside because of the awesome A.C. and the fact that your car is now a sauna thats been cooking in the sun all day. You can walk in with your bikini. They have a live band playing every once in awhile in the center of the store. Its two stories and huge. Theres always a lot of tourists so you have to wait in line if you buy something. Its pricey on a lot of things - like the clothes or the surfboards but what do you expect from a Walmart-ish sized beach store like that? You could buy a cheap seashell necklace and some average priced water shoes (Ive done both) but otherwise, I normally keep walking. Nothing has ever screamed out to me "buy me!" here anyway outside of the decor section. I think the unique decor section isnt overpriced because of the quality and orginality of the products. This area is located to the left when you first walk into the store. They have signs about the beach, car air fresheners with sexual innuendos, stained glass flamingos, hamsters talking on purses, feminist blurbs on random coffee cups and a lot of other trinkets/decorations that are different or at least make you laugh. So, basically, I wouldnt buy a Florida tshirt here (itd be 20 bucks or something insane) BUT if you wanted something cute and random and needed a place to cool off before the drive home, then I'd stop in. At least stop in to see how huge the place is. Oh, and a free Ron Jon bumper sticker when you buy something :) read more
