Needed seed potatoes advertised on Rona's site. Went to closest which claimed they had 11 units. No units available. Phone west edmonton location, gave them the item number and the clerk said he had more than 20 (website said they had 23) and that he had checked the shelf himself. Perfect. Drive across the city to the store and they can't find the item. None in the store Unacceptable. Don't really care whether stores are Canadian owned when service and communications is so poor. read more

Popped into Lowe's specifically on the hunt for Halloween inflatables. While they were sold out of the Haunted House I was looking for, they had LOADS of Halloween decor for 50-75%+ off! I literally had just seen the sane items in Walmart and Home Depot fir double the price yesterday. I don't know about the rest of the store, but for seasonal decor their clearance cannot be beat! This is one of those reviews where there's great things AND bad things to say at the same time. It started out GREAT. I checked out their gardening section and was delighted to find all kinds of seedlings I needed. No one else seems to have anything but tomatos, herbs, and peppers with their flowers. Gardeners like me like to get a jump on things, and are capable of keeping our plants alive while waiting for the long weekend. Anyway, they had a great variety of the above mentioned items, plus I was able to get cabbage, celery, eggplant, kohlrabi, kale, and even the elusive purple cauliflower. (They had a 'cheddar' variety too. I almost bought it.) "4 tomatos were on sale for $2.19, all varieties. During this time, the PA system was going NUTS, with requests for staff to report to certain areas. It never stopped. I remember thinking. "Good thing I don't need service." Up to that point I was ecstatic with my foliage finds. THEN I get to the cashiers...or the lack of them. Only customer service and two SELF-checkouts are up, and there's one person there for support. Which would be fine, except the very first item I beep through requires a price check, and the girl is busy. Just when I'm getting impatient, the screen tells me my problem is being handled 'remotely', and suddenly the item goes through fine. Well...okay that's good. Then I realize they have NO BAGS! None whatsoever. No cardboard trays, nothing. The poor girl monitoring the checkouts had just started her shift, and had no idea why there are no bags in the store, she can't find them anywhere. She's cringingly apologetic. She's probably going to hear that request ALL DAY. I'm going to guess that they have a severe staff shortage, and a badly harried manager, because this experience was a bit of a roller coaster as far as satisfaction is concerned. I'll be back, but I hope they can hire more people. read more

Worst service for a hardware store!!! The guy in plumbing told us where to go what we were looking for and then left. He was called 4 times before another employee came to try and help us. Really he tried but had no clue. The women in the washer and dryer department was very friendly and helpful. I don't think I would come back here unless we knew what we were buying. The only reason they got one star was for the helpful lady in the appliance department. read more

My recent experience at Lowes was one of the worst and frustrating customer service experiences I've had in a while. It was my first time shopping at Lowes, and their service just doesn't compare to that of The Home Depot, where employees are knowledgeable of their products and willing to help. During my 45 minutes or so at Lowes I observed lots of employees milling about, and when I engaged them, they were unable to provide the help I needed. To make a long story short, I was looking for a product- Nest Smoke Detectors, and from the time I entered the store until the time I left took about 30 minutes, and approximately 5 employees to get me the product I was looking for (they put cards on the shelf and you have to turn them in at check-out to get the actual product). Upon installation at home, I opened one box to find that I was the lucky recipient of a returned item, wherein they had put the wrong product in the box- I needed wired smoke detectors, and the box indicated I had purchased a wired one, only to find a battery operated one inside. So, back to the store I went (20 mins each direction), and stood at the returns desk for about 10 minutes before I finally had to yell across to get an employee's attention who was flipping through a book. After about 3 people trying to help me at the returns desk, it was determined they didn't have the actual product I needed, and they refunded my money. They gave me a discount on the other smoke detector I purchased (10%), but after spending about 2.5 hours on the whole rigmarole (and still needing to locate a second Nest!), I left feeling annoyed, disappointed and hesitant to ever return to Lowes. Home Depot, by contrast, although not having the product I was looking for, were quick and eager to investigate the situation and I left feeling like they cared about providing good customer service. read more

Another American hardware store chain. I could not really tell much difference in selection and prices from Home Depot. There was a lot of staff walking around so I had no worries about finding anything. I was looking for a small, simple screwdriver and the Tools section was very clearly marked. I was as impressed with Lowe's as I can be over a hardware store. read more

I came to this location looking to buy humidifier and furnace filters. I found the staff there not as helpful as I hoped. When I came in the store, the first staff I talked to didn't know where the products I was looking for were, so I walked around looking for some other staff to ask for help. I found someone else in the store who was able to give me directions of where the things were located. After arriving at the aisle where the products were suppose to be located, I couldn't find the humidifier filters and I had some question regarding the furnace filters which were there. I asked a staff member working there for help but he said he was busy doing something and told me to wait a short time before he could help me. I waited for a little while and I saw him in the distance helping someone else. I got the feeling he must of forgot about me since he was helping someone else now. This Lowe's location has good parking as I can always park near the main entrance, they sell good products, and the location is quite big. However, the help I received from their staff that day was not that good. read more

Tried to buy an exterior door, researched online and found the one I wanted. Went to the local Lowe's only to find out they don't carry that door in western Canada, and the equivalent door they carry here is $500 more. Once again western Canadians being discriminated against. Don't buy anything here, your money is better appreciated by Canadian companies. read more

On this occasion I received a confirmation that my web order was ready for pick-up, so my wife and 3 year old and 5 year old went to pick it up. It was not ready, the customer service lady kept paging a loader to get it but they where all on break. So instead of waiting she and my kids went and picked it themselves. read more

Weirdest experience I've ever had in a store. There were like 10 staff all standing like zombies along front aisle of all asking me if they can help me - and are close enough that they can hear one another asking me how they can help ????. Apparently they have to as their head office is trying this bizarre gauntlet of employees all in one spot is their idea of customer service . I was so weirded out I didn't buy anything and went to Homedepot. I've never seen a crazier detachment of corporate thinking so non-applicable to the real world. read more

I will never shop at Lowes again. They have the worst customer service on the planet. I ordered a washer and dryer online at the end of December. Upon completion of my order it stated that someone would be in touch with me within 48 hours to schedule delivery. Well I did not receive a call. I contacted customer service and was told that the item I ordered was a "special order" and that the store wouldn't be receiving it until January 4th. Well January 4th rolled around and I didnt hear a thing. I called customer service again to see what was happening. The response I got was that the store still did not have the item in and that there was a note on my file stating that someone from the store had called me and notified me that the item was not in yet and that someone would call me when it was in. Lies! On about January 16th I called the store directly and asked what was going on. The man at the store told me that the item was scheduled to be delivered to the store on the 19th so I would receive a call on the 20th to set up a delivery time... at least now I had a pretty clear answer so I could plan for some time to be off work to receive the washer and dryer when they delivered it. I get an automated call at 6:00 pm on the 18th telling me that the delivery guys would be delivering the appliances between 7 am and 9 am on the 19th!! How are people with jobs supposed to last minute drop everything to be available for the delivery guys the next morning. I had meetings scheduled for that entire morning which had to be rescheduled. The least Lowes could do is have a human being call to discuss possible times rather than have a machine tell me with 13 hours notice! The delivery guys arrived at about 8:00 am, so at least they were in the stated time frame and they were very polite and respectful. Thing is, they wouldn't do the installation, apparently I was to buy the hoses etc and do that myself. I emailed customer service to lodge a complaint about this whole fiasco... no response at all. As I was buying the hoses at HOME DEPOT!! the assistant manager there informed me that they will price match plus 10% off!! and do the installation. I was tempted to return the items to Lowes and purchase from Home Depot. Needless to say, I will be taking all my business to Home Depot from now on. read more

Went to look for plumbing accessories 30 Dec. Looked for a staff member for 10 mins - no one. A couple in front of me pressed the "customer help" button at the plumbing sales station. THREE times it was announced over the intercom help was required. Nearby a couple pressed the call button for bathroom products help. Two times the intercom bleated to no avail. I kept looking for a live body, then decided to leave. As I made my way out, the 'bathroom customer' had found a breathing Lowe's employee (about 100 yards away from the bathroom section) and was leading this yuppie back. "Quality service" is pasted on their website. Not seeing it kids. Oh, and at the exit (cashiers) there were no less than five employees seemingly standing around (not working cash, etc.). Miserable customer service, employees with attitude. Never again. I tried Lowes twice. The first time there were plenty of employees but none of them eager to help me find what I was looking for so I left. Second time I phoned ahead to confirm that they had the product I wanted. At the store I could not find the product so i asked for help. The cashiers paged twice but nobody showed up. I myself tracked the employee down who just told me that he had been busy. I told him what i wanted and he said that he was going to look for my product. I left him and took the time to tell the store manager that i didn't like the employee's attitude. I should mention that the cashiers were talking about this employee noting that he never responds to pages. When i returned to this guy had still not located my product, was probably doing something else. I asked him whether i should grab a coffee while he continued looking and i got more attitude. Instead of leaving right away, i went back to the manager. He and one of his colleagues tried to locate my product but were unsuccessful. Wasted 45min. Terrible service. Went to the Home Depot and spent my $200, in and out in 15min. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! It's unfortunate that I have to come back here to buy materials for home reno as it is close to my house but after couple of unpleasant experience with them, I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS STORE. They have VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I ordered two items from them on two separate occasions and both incidents were handled poorly by their staff. I got a defective item on my first purchase and they told me to just use, it's not a big damage anyways. ARE U KIDDING ME? I paid for full price and you tell me to use it? They did not even bother to offer any compensation. Second purchase, they cancelled their delivery without letting me know and I was waiting at home for the delivery and finally called them eventually then I was told that it was cancelled and will be delivered the following week. No apologies and valid reason. I do not usually write reviews but public needs to know that Lowe's in West Edmonton is BEYOND HORRIBLE!!! read more
