I've eaten a lot of Italian food over the years, and this was easily some of the best I've had. The Alfredo was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor without feeling heavy. The pesto penne was fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. We kept trading bites because we couldn't decide which one was better. Even before the entrees came out, the salad and bread were amazing. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. Nothing felt rushed or mass-produced. You can tell there is real pride behind the food here. What stood out just as much was the hospitality. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and made us feel genuinely appreciated. We had the chance to chat with the owner's mother before leaving, and that level of warmth really reflects what this restaurant is about. The insalata paolo was half the size it normally had been. It's supposed to be a salad for 2, tonight it was a salad for 1. The salmon pasta was plain, the salmon was raw, and seemed to be deep fried. We sent it back, and after a long wait we got another piece of oily deep fried salmon that was raw on the inside. The focaccia bread served with the pasta was rock hard and stale. We gave up and checked out. The server seemed busy and rushed, but was nice enough to take the salmon off the bill.

Usually, large group seatings brings service glitches, food glitches, less than optimal food temperatures and less than optimal drinks service. Trattoria Bella Sera absolutely nailed our experience with professional perfection every single element of the experience. Our group cherishes the times we can be all together and this wonderful experience is deeply appreciated by all of us. The food: Just stand out in all regards from the simplest pasta and red sauce (in my case, the cherished puttanesca which I make often at home) to the seafood and pasta white sauces, to the appetizers which we all shared (OMG, try the mushrooms in cream sauce and the bread and garlic!). The service: a single waitress took all our orders and she was just perfect. The plate delivery and eventual removal was a team effort and all were served at the same moment. Even the plate removal was done perfectly by the waitress and the bus lady. The dining room: We were set aside and a little out of the way of other dinners in a large high ceilinged room with really exceptional lighting and decors. Result was it was quiet enough that we could comfortably talk before, during and after the dinner which really added to the whole experience. The cost: One of the siblings picked up the tab but simple pasta plates are mostly $18 (my puttanesca was $2 additional and very worth it), then the $24 pasta and protein plates, then the $26 higher end plates and the $30 3-course plates. I tried all four of their moles as plates and also as a sampler on four different occasions and all are very complex, rich, creamy and satisfying. -Mole Poblano. "A not so sweet ajillo pepper mole sauce with traditional ingredients and a touch of Oaxaca chocolate." This was the first we tried here and what brought us back for more. -Mancha Manteles mole: This mole is described on their menu as: "Sweet pineapple, red apples, fried plantain and a wonderful choice of spices make this mole a great and unique experience". This mole like their other ones came out piping hot, creamy, thick, complex and delicious. -Mole Negro: Chichilo pepper and tomatillo mole sauce with a smoky taste and a hint of ash. -Mole Verde o Pipian. Considering the prices on the menu, I was surprised that soup or salad wasn't included with the meal. My husband ordered the steak, and it was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. We each ordered a soda, but instead of receiving fountain drinks, we were each given individual bottles. Free bread with garlic balsamic olive oil, bread was warm and they were very generous with the amount of dried garlic. Margherita pizza: we picked the most standard one and it was odd. Instead of cheese and fresh basil it had slices of tomato and dried basil. Crust was underdone and there was way too much cheese on it. Italian nachos: Crispy pasta chips, black olives, pepperoncinis, Roma tomatoes, jalapeños, Alfredo sauce, mozzarella and parmesan. I tried both their pizza and their famous mixed grilled meat. Pizza is Neapolitan-like and it is good even if not so authentic. Nice dressings and good floppy crust. They are good on grilling, but don't expect anything crazy good... just good without any bad remarks. Professional service and very nice hosts. Cool spot!
