OMG! My girl and I craved some pasta for lunch and came across this little gem of a place thanks to Yelp! Well, both really delivered. Zeffiro's was an absolute treat! We had their Tuscan Tortellini with shrimp and it was absolutely delicious. Because they prepare their food with an artisan approach the ingredients (including the pasta) was so fresh and possessed great seasoning and texture! Their website also made it so easy and straight forward to order online for a takeaway pick up. Highly recommended! This was a fun, new dining experience that I enjoyed immensely! Great vibe upon entering Zeffiro's with the art and set-up, I was instantly intrigued. Zeffiro's really does excellent pizza. I would highly recommend the Las Cruces pizza that has the infamous New Mexico green chilie and pepperoni. Their ranch dressing pairs very well with the pizza, so I would recommend a side if you usually do ranch and pizza. The Zeffiro pasta was also excellent - again your regular alfredo pasta with those yummy green chilie again! Our server was very friendly and gave great recommendations so that we could enjoy the meal. Of course we had to wrap up the dinner with dessert , even though we were very full from the pizza and pasta. We couldn't decide on just one item, so we ordered two slices of cake. First time having dinner at Zeffiro's. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Our server was very friendly and attentive. He also doubled as the bartender, so he was a bit busy. I ordered a spicy margarita without the simple syrup and was warned it would be spicy. The warning was accurate for sure. The jalapeños packed some heat! Our group of three split a 13" Las Cruces Pizza (marinara sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and green chile) and a Zeffiro Pasta (pasta with alfredo sauce and green chile, topped with crispy prosciutto). There was plenty of food; we had some pizza to take home since we wanted to try some dessert. Our server recommended two of his favorites: the Italian Lemon Cream Cake & Stella's Chocolate Cake. Both were very good; it just depends on your preference for sweetness level. It is a very cute restaurant. This is a cute spot for some yummy pasta and pizza. The menu is extensive, and I appreciate that they have different portion sizes for their pasta bowls. The Zeffiro pasta is flavorful, but there is a lottt of green chile in it. The food is a little pricey, but we had a great time and service was good. read more

The side salads are $6 and is literally just greens with 1 cherry tomato cut in half and a few croutons. The pizzas are good even though they are small for the price. The calzones are also small and have more cheese than filling. The marinara sauce though is absolutely delicious! read more

Look, I get it; Pizza is ubiquitous. But if you are going to hit the field goal as an Italian restaurant, you need to be able to hit the high notes. Zeffiro's Pizzeria Downtown in beautiful Las Cruces hits the high notes because their choir of offerings is awesome. Having just moved to Cruces, we've been on a search to find the best pizza. We were beginning to lose hope but we heard about Zeffiro's and booked a reservation. THAT was not a mistake. With a huge shout-out to our server Josephine, she suggested a special "Jalipino Popper" and I had the "Pistol Pete". Like many restaurants here, there is always a nod to the roots of Hatch (world famous chile peppers) and the Mesilla Valley. And I think that is a culinary challenge; but Zeffiro's made it work with their popper pizza. And how do you go wrong with ricotta cheese? NEVER! The Pistol Pete pizza, a nod to the NMSU mascot, was equally fantastic. I've had pizza all over the US. Chicago deep dish, NYC pizza (and you gotta know how to palm that slice in the big apple), LA and Phoenix, each with their own twist. But this place has entered my hall-of-fame right next to Barro's Pizza in Phoenix and Uno's in Chicago. If you want pizza in Las Cruces, this is the place. You will not regret it! read more

I stopped by here on a whim during a trip. The service is friendly and they are so accommodating. I saw the pizza oven in the back- and the waiter said they're known for their pizzas! So, I went with a margarita pizza without the tomato topping. It was delicious. I liked the crust, not too thick but just strong enough to hold the toppings. (I had to do the fold to eat mine). I enjoyed the ambiance of the place too. My colleagues went with a veggie packed calzone and the lemon asparagus pizza. Both of them said their food was absolutely delightful too. One thing I love about visiting New Mexico is seeing the different ways they use green chile in their dishes. I came across the Zeffiro pasta and made a great choice ordering it. I would never have thought of Alfredo sauce, green chile, and prosciutto being a combination but it is a superb one! We both had a case of food poisoning. Not a good experience .The waitress asked if we would like to have a to go box and I replied no. This should have been a teachable moment that there was something very wrong if both entrees were barely touched. Eat at Zaffiro's for the first time. The staff were super friendly and our waitress Jo was very attentive with drink refills. We has the Las Cruces and Supreme pizzas (10 inch) which were perfect for two people. The Las Cruces pizza was basically a pepperoni pizza with Hatch green chilies. The crust had good flavor and chew and the green chilies went nicely with the pepperoni. The Supreme had sausage, olives, green peppers, onions, and mushrooms. The crust tasted good but the middle of the pie was soggy because of all the toppings. The sausage didn't have much flavor and was cut round like pepperoni (I prefer small pieces of sausage dotted around the pie). Overall, it was good wood fired pizza. We chose Zeffiro's because of the vegan options, and they did not disappoint. I had not been there since it opened years ago, before I went vegan. It looks so much better than I remembered. The ambiance on an early Sunday afternoon was so nice and clean inside. Smelled fresh. They had some board specials which was nice because they include a side house or Ceasar salad and a soft drink. My husband got the half pizza special which was a good size equivalent to about three slices. He got pesto sauce with sausage. The sausage was sliced like pepperoni which it looked strange because the color was different. The pizza was tasty. The side salads were fresh. I got the the Fettuccine Alfredo with added Woodfired grilled chicken. The Alfredo sauce was not traditional tasting. It was a little too garlicky and tasted like a doctored up jar of Bertolli sauce. The grilled chicken was plain. It has no taste of being "woodfired." Everything was a little garlic forward. The service was fantastic. The host and Josephine the server were so friendly and professional. I also have to add that they charge .75 extra for more salad dressing. read more

Fresh new paint and some remodeling and this place is shiny and new. Pizza is still spot on. Cheese pizza 8.50 and the specialty ones are about $13. The Pistol Pete is a fav. But just pepperoni and cheese is a delight because their crust is good. Ask them to bake it just a few more minutes for a char. The first time or two I didn't and wasn't as happy with it as I could have been. I am a fan of their meat lasagna with the red sauce. More often than not a restaurant cooks this entree early in the day and by the time it gets to your plate it's been cold and reheated. The noodles are rubbery and the edges are burnt. But even if they cook it hours ahead of your order, Zeffiro's doesn't ever seem to have that left over texture. Yay! They offer a Hatch chile lasagna but I am not ready to mesh Italian and New Mexico chile yet! Honestly, we are creatures of habit and order pizza and lasagna. But both are tasty and why mess with tasty. Service inside is often quite slow - even when they aren't real busy. So order and pick up or let 'em bring it to you. It's a very nice locally owned pizza and Italian grub place. I recommend it before an event downtown or a pick up on your way home from work. Parking can be difficult until downtown stuff is closed. I used to go here all the time years ago so I was excited to bring my husband when we were visiting LC. They sat us at such a tiny table when there were bigger ones open. The bread was not free anymore but we ordered it. Both baskets we got were so hard we thought we were going to break our teeth. They did make a fresh loaf next but it took so long we were done with our pizza and full. We brought it to our hotel but it was extremely hard again the next morning we threw it away. We ordered a pizza and stuff was spilling because there was no room. Our plates were hanging off the table. Quality sure did go down and so did the service.
