A friend sold me a 2000 Audi A4, 1.8 turbo with a "small" coolant leak. I contacted Audi and they…read moretold me is that it is a standard problem with a specific plastic flange that cracks and/or rots and leaks at the back of the engine that costs $35. To fix it they wanted to charge me for 6hrs of labor plus the part. I told the guy on the phone that the car was not worth 6hrs of repairs especially at $120 per hour and he agreed. He told me that there was a "work around" where someone can install the part in under 3hrs if they knew what they were doing. After visiting several mechanics in the Jacksonville area that had no clue or were unaware of the workaround, I was told to try East Coast Imports. This is a "Mom and Pop" old school operation. If you expect fancy waiting rooms with popcorn machines you will be disappointed - they fired their cleaning lady back in the 90s. The owner gave me a next day appointment and installed the part in 2 hours at $85 an hour. I stayed there for 6 hours because the car had to cool down and of course because he took his sweet time to start working on it but he gave me a lot of insight about that specific engine, how it works and what to watch for. A great guy and an "old school" mechanic with a "can do" attitude. The place is also a great place purchase used cars as he has a great selection of vehicles that he can service and keep running for under $7k. Again, this is not the auto shop with 3 secretaries that plays classical music. This is a great place to fix older imports and to hang out and talk about flanges if you wish. I strongly recommend it - they can fix what others can't for the right price. Just be extra careful when you pull in and pull out as folks drive very fast at that part of the road and may ram you.

The went in the car full of grease, mud. They remove the trunk cover so they can get to the battery, and they must have set it on the ground and walked all over it. The owner is as shady as they come and needles to say a total prick. I am having to take the car to an Audi dealer because they messed up the MMI module and he said that it was not working when I brought the car in. The hell with this place.
