I contacted David Fries Roofing, and was put in touch with Michael. My roof wasn't an emergency; there were many people in Norman with leaks or worse that were in far greater need than I was of a new roof. So, I elected to wait a few weeks to have my roof done. When it was time, Michael emailed me (I didn't have to bother him or remind me) to set up the work. The guys were out there in 2 days, and they didn't come at the crack of dawn, which I greatly appreciated. They were there for 2 days, and were very thorough cleaning up after they left. Additionally, when the lawn was mowed, they asked that I contact them so they could come and look for additional nails they may have missed during the clean up. The roof looks fantastic. Finally, they came within the quoted price. David Fries has been in business in Norman for many years now, and although this is only my first experience with him and his employees, I can understand why. I hired this company for a light kitchen remodel that included cabinet reconfiguration, cabinet…read morepainting and backsplash install. We started the project on October 14th, agreeing to an estimate of $11,800, and the project ended 6 weeks later with a final invoice of $15,500. The project was left unfinished, and the franchise owner ultimately refused to return to complete or correct the work left by the service technician. I urge you to read my experience below. This company does not act with your best interest in mind. * Painting was left incomplete in multiple areas. Entire sections were missed, not just touch-ups. * Custom cabinetry was not finished or structurally sound. The top was not secured, interior backing was missing, and paint was incomplete. * Backsplash installation had inconsistent grout lines, visibly misaligned tile rows, uneven cuts at the ends of runs, and no Schluter edging. * We were charged over $1,000 for masking and protection and removal, yet paint overspray was left on walls, doors, and personal property throughout the space including my kids' toys and bikes in the garage. * An electrical outlet behind the oven was left unsecured, hanging freely with no attachment to framing hidden behind my stove. This is a basic safety and installation failure. When it came time for the final payment, I told the office on a Tuesday that I would bring the final check on Thursday because I had questions. Thomas called me and told me that was inappropriate and disrespectful and alluded to civil litigation. He personally came all the way to my house to collect final payment. While there, he acknowledged that additional work was required to repair and complete the project and committed in writing to creating a repair plan as all work was the Done Right Promise warranty. Over a three week span, he successfully avoided me until I showed up to their office unannounced asking for answers. While there, the owner decided his team would not return to my home, saying I would be "too difficult" or "micromanaging" and that my standards were too high. He initially offered me a $4,000 refund, however $2,000 of that was from a discovered billing error that was only revealed because I continuously asked about the large discrepancy between estimate and final invoice. So I was getting $2,000 to finish the project, even though he charged me $2,000+ for the backsplash, $1,000+ for tape and masking, and $848 for a final punch list even though he never sent someone back to my house to complete the punch list. I eventually escalated to corporate, but corporate said franchises are individually owned and operated, and corporate cannot force the franchise to do anything. They can only 'strongly suggest' courses of action to the franchise owner's business coach. So in my case, the owner, along with his coach, decided not to honor the warranty nor provide a refund for what it was going to cost to repair and complete the work, and corporate won't do anything. After several weeks of refund discussions, I eventually proposed a $6000 refund to part ways and waive my right to the warranty. The owner's response to me was 'Thanks. A check will be in the mail." When the check came, it was for $5000! I emailed the owner and asked why it was $1,000 short, and he ultimately decided that $5000 was enough. Again, the owner, his coach and corporate offered no explanation at all. The owner eventually said it was simply a negotiation tactic to send me a check for less than what he agreed to. If you made it this far, I hope you think twice about moving forward with this company and the Neighborly brand. Ultimately, I have to take responsibility for this as I did sign the document saying work was complete. Though I was under the impression I had to do that to trigger the warranty.This franchise simply does not have the skillset for large projects. If you need a light bulb changed or a ceiling fan hung, I'm sure they're fine. From the reviews, it looks like they install killer doggy doors. Also, do not rely on the Done Right Promise as a safeguard. And understand that if problems arise, resolution depends entirely on whether the owner chooses to engage, act respectfully, and honor his word, not on what the brand advertises. After asking what's up, we discover that their sander is broken and they need to get a part for it (you can rent similar sander that works for very little money). Tuesday comes and Tuesday goes and nobody shows up to work. No word on today's issue. We express our displeasure. We have new appliances set to be delivered next week, so the floor being done is a big deal. Wednesday about 11:30 AM we are at the house when the floor guy finally rolls in. He says he's forgotten the correct sandpaper and has to go get it. And, since he's here for the "long haul" today, he might as well get some lunch. He does no work before leaving after arriving for the day. He comes back around 1230 PM and we finally have someone working on our floors on the 5th day after our home is unusable. Yay! We leave for lunch and come back around 2PM and our guy is already gone for the day. He did about 30 minutes of work. Repeat similar story for Thursday. We then threaten to fire him and he promises they they will put in full days Friday, Saturday and Sunday to catch up and complete project as planned by next Tuesday. Long story short, they do put in a good 3 hours on Friday. About 45 minutes on Saturday and no show on Sunday. Our floors aren't even 1/4 of the way finished and we are having to scramble to find another floor guy to finish the project so that we can take the delivery of our appliances next week. I'm not certain this will all work out, but to say that Feighny Hardwood Floors is bad at business would be an understatement. Patrick is the owner and he just has no control over his employees. We now also have had some rando in our house not working for the last week and we will have to change the locks on our doors as a result of this debacle. In 2019, Red Plains replaced a section of pipe on the main drain leading away from my home toward…read morethe backyard fence. Over the course of several years, I had issues with the drain clogging periodically but couldn't ever figure out why. This year, my significant other and I had a different company scope the drain with a camera in the hopes of getting to the root cause of our repeated clogs. We discovered that the work Red Plains did in 2019 involved REDUCING the diameter of the drain by one inch. Plumbing 101: Drains are only supposed to get bigger as they progress away from a building to the sewer main. We calmly contacted Red Plains to see what, if anything, they could do. They said the worker who did the original work was no longer with the company and also that they couldn't guarantee work done so long ago. Ultimately, they offered no kind of recourse for us and did nothing to fix the problem they created. We had to hire a different company to repipe the drain from the reduced section all the way back to the house, about $6,500. None of this would've happened if Red Plains would've done the job right in the first place OR remediated their original "mistake", which is actually more like plumbing malpractice. Do not trust this company.

Some guys from Red Plains Plumbing came out to clear a slow washer drain but they just managed to…read moreget their snake stuck in my washer standpipe. Instead of apologizing and figuring out how to fix it, they claimed that this happened because of my drain and they would have to go straight to digging up the sewer line for $7,000 to $10,000! I told them I would not be doing that and asked for other options so they said a supervisor would call me back and left, abandoning their snake in my drain which was now completely clogged and backed up into my washer and kitchen sink... Fast forward through a couple of days of frantic calls to Red Plains which they didn't even bother returning and I called another plumber for emergency service. They were NOT complimentary and let me know the snake should not have been put through the washer standpipe and its four 90 degree turns, should never have been forced in until it knotted up, and after they removed it that Red Plains had used the wrong kind of head on the snake which was broken off inside the drain! What was just a slow drain was now a serious issue and I had spent over $700 but was much worse off than I started! I want to support small businesses like Red Plains because they're supposed to care more about their customers. Unfortunately with Red Plains, they weren't able to provide the resources, professionalism, and knowledge that a larger company would. Their office manager called and tried to help figure out a way forward but must have been overruled because a return visit to fix the problem lasted less than 15 minutes and Red Plains sent me an email saying there was nothing they could do. When I tried to find out what happened (again leaving many messages with no return calls) they just told me I should go with another plumber! Following their advice, I called a larger, more reputable company and what a difference it made! In less than the time it took Red Plains to get their snake stuck and block up my drain, the experienced plumbers found exactly where the head of the snake was lodged in the Y with a nearby floor drain, sent a camera down the floor drain to look at what it would take to remove the stoppage, and cleared the stoppage through a nearby cleanout that the Red Plains plumbers had just ignored! Instead of defaulting to the most destructive (and expensive) option, the new plumber had the tools and experience to correctly diagnose the problem and figure out a way to fix it where Red Plains couldn't. To cap it all off, Red Plains flatly refused to refund the charges for their "drain cleaning" which started this mess (be careful with all the fine print they put in their invoices which make you wave their liability for damages they do) so this was a costly lesson for me. In the end, what it comes down to is that you want to work with a company who will do what they say they will and help you even after they make a mistake. Based on what happened to me, I want to warn everyone that company is not Red Plains Plumbing. If you're considering hiring them then I hope the same thing doesn't happen to you too!
