I went to Rooftop 120 on 6/11/22.. it was one of my daughter's Bday/ Graduation dinner. Well, what I wasn't expecting was the $10 per head which cost me $80 for the band. The band was good but it's the same music you get at Main Pub in Manchester and it's free there. The food at Rooftop 120 was bar food.. I'm not a fan of wings and string fries. I decided to get the BLT and it was quite small & had pork fat on it..I almost choked. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice, but it's more of a place for the conservative types. We had a party of eight for a birthday celebration. The atmosphere was cool. We were too many to sit in the little alcoves but the intimate seating for two on the love seats are really cute. The servers were very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was good we enjoyed everything we had. No one had any complaints. The drinks were on point. The place is a bit pricey for what you get. Absolutely awful. This place is nicely decorated and clean, but the service is horrendous and the way they treat their customers is outrageous. My friend went there the other day for a drink with her boyfriend and upon ordering, they were of course asked for their IDs. My friend gives her ID to the bartender and the bartender, Shayna, takes it and walks away with it. Shayna comes back and claims it's a fake ID and that they need to leave and she can't give the ID back. My friend and her boyfriend were beyond shocked at the treatment. ITS A REAL ID. Obviously she can't do her job right if she can't tell a fake ID from a real ID. Shayna and my friend & her boyfriend get into a little argument because my friend wants her ID back but Shayna is absolutely refusing. My friend offered to show her credit cards, her insurance cards, everything to show proof and Shayna absolutely refuses to look at it nor give back the ID. At this point, my friends are pissed. I mean who wouldn't be? My friend is beyond embarrassed because Shayna is arguing and causing a scene. Now everyone at the restaurant thinks that my friend is underaged and getting caught with a fake when it is not the case. At one point the security guard and manager come back and tell Shayna that it is in fact a real ID, but then kick my friends out of the restaurant because of the argument. I'm am absolutely baffled at the service of this place. Kick my friends out for an issue that your bartender started? Not only that, but she didn't even have to apologize for basically accusing my friend of an illegal act? Unacceptable in my book & if this happened to my friend, this can happen to anyone. Stopped here for a quick drink at the bar a couple of weeks ago - arrived on a Saturday around 7pm and it was packed. It might have been because there was a town wide event because I thought it was a bit early to be crowded but maybe not . Rooftop 120 fills a sorely lacking void in the Hartford area - a place where 30ish people can go and not feel like they are entering a meat market. The dress of it's patron was nice - glad to know there is a place where you still have to "dress to impress". I was luck to snag a seat for myself and my guest and we were quickly given drink menus by the very very busy bartender. After a quick glance at the drink list - I ordered a Moscow Mule and my guest a beer. I have been enjoying this drink recently but was disappointed when it was presented to me. For an upscale bar I did not expect it to be presented in a pint glass - what????? However the drink was spot on and I would have gotten another but flagging down the bartender was an Olympic feat. He probably could not hear me - it was so loud in the bar, actual conversations could not be had in the bar area. When I finally did - I was over Rooftop - too loud, too crowded and it was too much work to get some service. I am a fan because the bartenders. If we go there once every four to six weeks or so, they recognize us and know what we like. That is impressive! The food I could live with out. The drinks was good but most of the food wasn't very flavorful like the pesto pasta and the grilled cheese weren't up to par. The service was good though they were very understanding. The scenery was nice as well in a good location. The best dishes were the sticky ribs,lobster mac and cheese and the Mediterranean pasta. Hello news10 this is Rafael Estrella. I recently moved from Norwich, CT to Glastonbury, CT. Love the new town and the bars and restaurants. But last night on friday august 16th 2019 around 10:50pm eastern time at ROOFTOP 120 Glastonbury, CT, 06033. All i wanted was a 'love potion' which is their signature drink and my girl wanted food.  We spoke to the hostess before a party of 6 canadian citizens did and waited for a couples table to dine in and have drinks.  They skipped us and a security guard told us to move out of the way. After 20 minutes we finally got sat down and never got a server to serves us for 10 minutes. we left asked for our cover charge back and had trouble getting it from security guard or cashier. And we never had any service at all. I felt like we got disrespected and treated like 2nd class citizen. Spoke to the manager and he made us feel lesser than everyone else. This was classless and racist.  New hispanic couple in town get the short end of the stick and a bad taste of modern discrimination. read more

I went for happy hour and I must say this is a beautiful place! When you enter you can either take the elevator or stairs to the third floor to enter the restaurant. The bar side is amazing! It has two sides of seating out doors then in the middle a lovely open bar. I ordered a salmon taco, buffalo shrimp taco and also a lobster roll. The salmon taco was amazing however, the buffalo shrimp taco had a lot of sauce which took away from the true flavor! Lobster roll wasn't my favorite because I am a cold lobster roll eater but they give you a large portion which is also extremely good and a plus! We were both wearing jogger type pants, when we got to this bar we were denied from going in because we were wearing "sweatpants." The security guy could not have been more rude. I REALLY wanted to like this place as the atmosphere had a cool vibe. We visited for my husband's 50th bday so I wanted it to be special. It was everything but that. 1st, adhering to COVID guidelines there could be limited people on the elevator so we took the stairs only to get to the restaurant floor and ignored as we knocked on the locked door ( a door that had mask warnings etc so it was obviously used for patrons). We went back to the lobby and waited for the elevator to find a hostess AND security just on the other side of the locked door. Once seated, we were told that they had no grilled chicken or salmon before we even looked at a menu. (Despite having perused it in advance which proved futile as 1st and 2nd choice now unavailable) We asked if an empty table was being used as the outdoor heater was not positioned towards where we were. We were eventually allowed to move when it remained empty and as soon as we did, the heaters were turned off. We got appetizers with our watered-down drinks. Then waited an HOUR before our meals arrived. Ordered a refill for my wine while we waited... did not get it until a member of our party reminded our server of the request. Then the CRAZIEST thing happened. As soon as my husband's ( the birthday boy) meal was put down in my front of him, someone came behind our waitress and took the plate away saying it was for someone else ( another patron who I'm sure was not aware that their plate had been given to someone else first ( with such concern about virus transmission!!) Once our food came, the flood lights illuminated signaling closing time. We had to hear of the backlog of the kitchen in keeping up with this significantly reduced capacity space. Yes this was the 1st night of restricted restaurant hours due to pandemic roll-back but with 7:45 reservations, we would have had plenty of time to eat before this necessary public health curfew. Too bad for this restaurant as we are typically very easy patrons to please who generally tip really well. My husband did get a complimentary piece of cake as we were ushered out the door... dissatisfied. read more

I came to Rooftop 120 for happy hour before the paint night they were hosting. My friend and I sat at the bar, and immediately the bar tender told us that on Tuesdays they offer half priced bottles, followed up by "let me guess... Rosé?" He wasn't too far off the mark with that one. We ordered a bottle and he was very attentive to making sure our glasses were consistently refilled! Contrary to some other reviews, I thought the service was very attentive and it did not take a while to get our drinks or food. In addition to half priced bottles on Tuesdays, there is also an option to do an appetizer + entre combo for $19.95. Some of the appetizers were salads or hummus plates entres included a pasta dish, salmon and a burger. My friend and I each got something different so we could share. The food was simple and OK. Not overly flavorful or unique, but mainly bar food with an otherwise high price tag. They do have a variety of events and paint nights so I would follow that calendar for something fun and different, but am not likely to make this a regular dining establishment. read more

Came for post dinner drinks on the rooftop. Service was very poor. Our waitress stopped by every table around us asking if they wanted anything else. She made no eye contact or attempt whatsoever. My friend and I just went straight into the bar to order our drinks. Later asked the waitress for some napkins, never came back with them. Instead we saw her talking to the customers around our table. Very unprofessional. Bartender used his barehands to grab the maraschinos cherries, the orange/lime wedges to make cocktails . It's a great location and the decor is very nice, especially the colorful wall of wine bottles. In good weather the glass doors in the lounge fold open to the exterior deck where there are tables and booths for dining as well as more space for dancing when they have live bands. They changed from all tapas to regular dining menu within the past year. This was the first time there with the menu change. We were there on a Saturday night and found some open seating at the bar. I ordered a jumbo Margaretta which was yummy and a lot of fluid to drink. My partner has his usual Saphire and tonic. I had the chicken parmesan which arrived a little burnt along one edge but was steaming hot. The pasta was almost cold and there wasn't enough sauce. I would suggest putting a large spoonful of sauce in the bottom of the dish then add the chicken and pasta with more sauce over each. There was a good amount of cheese but not enough sauce. My partner had chicken tenders, one of his old fallback menu choices. The wait staff is very attentive and kept unwanted items off the bar. read more

From the moment you walk in, the vibe hits you. As a NYC native, this place was like a piece of home located in Glastonbury (without the expensive prices). A little hard to find when driving in (I went at night so the in the daytime, it may be easier to find), but well worth the five seconds of stress when trying to figure out if I had made the right turn. I was greeted by welcoming hosts and led to a table on the rooftop upon arrival. Rachel was my first server (there was a mistake about which table was who's) and after explaining to her the kinds of drinks I like, she recommended a similar version of a French martini (I think it was called "I Wanna Sex You Up")--Bubbly personality and super attentive! My table then became Scott's table. Scott was such a great server! He made sure I was taken care of and that my food was prepared to my liking. Being outside, there's always the possibility that a fly can land in your drink and unfortunately, that's what happened to me. Completely uninspired experience! We arrived and were greeted by a very welcoming greeter, this was the only inspiration we received at RT-120. We ordered appetizers that took 45 minutes! Calamari, sliders, and chicken rolls. Don't waste your hard earned money in this place. The food was late, tasteless, and totally chewy. Our waitress was uninterested in providing good service as she only came by our table 3 times. The manager was as uninterested in our comments and feedback and then had the nerve to insinuate that because we had eaten some of the food that we should not complain. This place is just a cash cow for high priced drinks and some semblance of atmosphere (they were playing 80's rock really loud at the bar and disco really low in the restaurant!), and really, really bad food and service. I'm updating this review as changes has been made the past 6 months. First glance walking in. All new furniture, classy vibe, beautiful chandeliers in the dining room off to the left. First time sitting here instead of the outside area where everyone tends to migrate to as that is the focal point of the happening bar. Our waiter was great, he made a lot of suggestion and although I've never been impressed by the food here before, he said he was happy to just be bringing the cocktails out all night but that we should give the food another go as it's much better than it used to be. We decided to try the Sesame Ahi Tuna, tacos and burger all of which were really really good to my surprise. Not that the food before has kept me away.. As there is that cool big bar and single friends have been dragging me back often, but I was pleasantly surprised by all the changes with the quality of the food. So the bar is the same as before. Cool Staff.. always remembering my favorite drink and it's a front of me within the seconds I sit Down. Still the same weird crowd though Saturdays so clearly Friday is the time to come. On this note... Ladies!. If you are coming here to meet Mr. Good-Enough-right-now, then please oh please don't come in with packs of 5-6 girls.. you cannot be sitting next to me whining all night how all the cute guys across the bar aren't coming over. My boyfriend and I met up with friends here for drinks, and we were generally baffled by the atmosphere. We agreed that this place feels like it can't decide what it wants to be. Half the people here are 20-somethings who are dressed to hit up the club, while the other half are older folk who are just here to drink a beer and watch the game. My boyfriend and I showed up in the clothes we just wear around the house because my roommate described it as a "casual place", but we stuck out like a sore thumb in the sea of tight bandage dresses and button-down shirts. Weird atmosphere aside, the bar is beautiful and the bartenders quick and efficient. Our drinks were definitely on the pricey side, about $8 each, but my cocktail was made well so I was happy. I don't think I'd be hurrying back myself because when I want to go to a club, I go to a club (this place could use a dance floor), and when I want to go to a neighborhood bar, I choose somewhere more casual than this. These four glorious stars apply strictly to Rooftop's happy hour, during New England's three seasons that have the least amount of snow. Whenever someone says "happy hour" and it's above sixty degrees outside, Rooftop is always my number one choice. The reasons are simple: Great small plates at great prices, and a cozy, convivial rooftop atmosphere. I enjoy that Rooftop's appetizers change seasonally, but that they also keep some tried and true favorites on the menu, like their flat breads, sweet potato tots, and truffle fries. I am always incredibly appreciative that Rooftop offers many vegetarian options on their happy hour menu. Recently, I have had their Baby Hummus Platter and Vegetable Summer Spring Rolls. The hummus platter was great, and included soft pita triangles, chopped olives, and red peppers. It was way more sophisticated and generously portioned than I was expecting for $5. The spring rolls were fine. They were a bit too heavy to be touted as a summer dish. I would have loved to have fresh spring rolls instead, but nonetheless, they were crispy and served piping hot with a great dipping sauce. My fellow carousers had the Baby Back Ribs and Buffalo Chicken Sliders, and adored both. We all shared Five Spice Sweet Potato Tots and Truffle Fries, both of which were excellent, as usual. If you plan a Rooftop happy hour, you won't need to plan dinner for the evening. Seriously. For me, happy hour food is just as important as the drinks, and Rooftop shines in this category.
