Beyond disappointed. This it's not the picture nor the ambience on the Marriott website. This is an enclosed die far on the top of the marriott. There is no music and there's only one bartender with a crop top. All you can hear is the baseball game behind me. It is stuffy and the floorboards are falling in. There's only one access to the outside and that is a tiny when do you like the corner where people smoke. Great view but you can't really access it. Also came up with the dinner and was called it's technically for dinner but they're only doing appetizers and I have to go to find somewhere else for dinner.

Neat bar on the rooftop. Great view of the city! Large u shape bar with individual tables, as well. The staff was short handed, but managed to treat customers well. Food was very good and brought up fresh and hot from the hotel's kitchen. Great experience all around

Was charged $18 for a gin and tonic...environment weirdly felt like being on a cruise ship, and not in a good way. Menu didn't show prices. Bartender was on the phone the whole time which made for a frustrating ordering experience. My friend had a mojito that we later realized had rotten looking basil leaves in the drink. You could definitely tell the taste was off too. Was excited to check this place out but won't be returning. View, service, and ambiance were definitely not worth the crazy high drink prices. Did I mention the g&t was only a single?

Delicious seasonal cocktails! The orange dream was my favorite, it had Godiva chocolate liquor with orange juice and a chocolate drizzle; tasted like a chocolate covered orange! The white pumpkin was good, very creamy. Looks like they do serve food for every meal. Extensive drink list. Small rooftop area, but cute and with a nice breeze. Downside, would have liked a little less plexiglass on the railings because it obstructed the view of the city. I felt claustrophobic. Overly crowded and difficult to get a drink after the first one. I was surprised only one bartender was working the bar. With two drinks person for a total of two people, I was alarmed at the total of the bill. I was surprised to see 5 different taxes were added on top of the already high price cocktails, which the price point was higher than expected. Recommend for a one time visit, but unsure I would recommend returning.

The drink menu is kinda pricy but the bartender was able to make my drink. The roof top vibe is there depending on where you sitting all in all this bar is good.

A really nice ambience here and amazing views of the city. One of the best if not only place with these kind of city views. The bartenders Kendra and Jessica were so awesome and friendly! The drinks were great and just enough. Had a great time here and will definitely be back!

I've been to this rooftop about 3 or 4 times now. It's my go to place when I have a friend visiting from town in order to show the best and nicest parts of Columbia. It's located at the top of the Sheraton Hotel, the 17th floor, and it's open after 5 on most days to the general public. It's very small when you get up there and can be crowded sometimes. They have a few tables and a rectangular bar that you sit at. I consider the drinks to be very expensive for the area. I spent nearly $20 last time on a Bud Light and Martini. There have tall glass surrounding the edges of the rooftop for fall protection and these giant chairs that you can stand on in order to maximize your view. The view is best at sunset or at night as you can see most of the heart of Vista. Unfortunately, the view is only for one side of the building so you don't get a full view of the entire city. Also, there's not a whole a lot to do and the drinks are expensive so I usually only spent 30 minutes each time I'm here. The rooftop, while it is the best for Columbia, does not compare to the ones in Charleston and the right atmosphere just isn't there to keep me there longer. Overall, this place is good if you want to impress a date or friend that's visiting Columbia for the first time. Otherwise, it's not that big or unique of a rooftop bar.

I ran up to the rooftop for a double vodka cranberry and woah! $22 later... walked it with this. Not cool. What is this. . Vegas!?

Come on. Lame. This is not cool, not classy, not anything good. It's a tiny space with very little seating. Claustrophobic. We came up expecting couches, flowing water, plants, lights, music.... it had none of that. On a Saturday night you'd think there would be a party atmosphere. We got off off the elevator - peeked at the view and left. Zzzzzzzzzz Update: I stayed here again a month after this review. I ran up there for a double vodka cranberry and woah! $22 later... had a tiny drink. Very disappointed. What is this. . Vegas!?

When I walked in, I was amazed at what I saw inside, as it definitely was not what I was expecting (and I mean that in a good way!). I loved how dimly lit it was inside, which was complemented by miniature lights that were strung from the ceiling. Speaking of the aforementioned change of pace, I also appreciated how there were no TVs inside, which created an intimate atmosphere that focused more on conversing with your friends than watching whatever may have been on TV. Finally, as someone who always pays attention to a restaurant's artwork... I absolutely LOVED the artwork that was on display at Goat's. They had so many cool pieces of eclectic artwork, that you could almost consider it as much a small art museum as a restaurant. My favorite art piece is kind of hard to describe, but I guess you could say that it was of a God-like man in a suit controlling somebody who was playing golf. (I know, it's hard to describe, but like I said, it's eclectic.) My one (1) downside to Goat's, and the only thing keeping it from a five-star review, is that the bartender and servers were all pretty rude and arrogant. This is speculation, but maybe Goat's is one of those places that considers itself a "regulars" bar, and isn't very nice to people who aren't regular customers, but the three (3) employees I interacted with weren't all that inviting. All in all, Goat's was a great experience, and if it were an option, I'd probably give it something like 4.5 or 4.8 stars if I could. If the servers were a little less full of themselves, or maybe just in a better mood, I'd consider it a five-star experience. Nevertheless, Goat's was a great experience, I'll definitely be back, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in if they're looking for a unique experience in Five Points!

It delivered on smokiness to the point of entertaining me too! My glass of rose was great, a normal choice for me. The gumbo had excellent flavor and the small whole bird on top was such an interesting presentation. The crispy skin had great flavor as did the chicken itself, complemented the creole flavor of the gumbo perfectly. I hate to admit that the tomato broth, dare I say gravy, kind of stole the flavor show. We both loved it. I nearly forgot I had grilled bread to accompany it as I was spooning up mussels and the delightfully flavorful tomato broth. Service was totally on point until the very end, when getting our check was a bit slow. We had a new server respond to our rescue though, and they did discount our check a bit, which was more than we were expecting. The seating arrangement for us ended up being at a communal long dining table, not a private booth. It wasn't our first date, and we loved being in the middle of the room and watching all of the dishes and drinks flow by. The view of the booth tables by the window would also make for a great view when the street is busy with ample people watching. Great experience, would definitely recommend. Take note, they do not take reservations so either come early or allow time to wait.

Bison, elk, boar, rabbit. These are proteins you don't see on most menus. The restaurant leans into a woodland theme with greenery hanging throughout the space. It borders on a bit much, but the open kitchen visible from the dining room grounds the whole experience and adds a nice touch of theater. The seating was comfortable and well spaced, perfect for a family dinner where you actually want to hear each other talk. Our server was outstanding, easily 5 out of 5. She knew the menu cold, offered thoughtful recommendations, and struck that ideal balance of attentive without being intrusive. She made the evening better. The drinks were mostly a win. Two cocktails were excellent, creative and well balanced. A third was over iced and fell flat. Minor miss, but worth noting. The food is where The Hollow really shines. The charcuterie board was a fantastic start, featuring a well curated spread of wild game meats, quality cheeses, fig, and mustard. The mains delivered across the board: salmon, elk, and bison all came out beautifully with great flavor and generous portions. The sides deserved their own applause, which isn't something I say often. The dessert menu was the one soft spot. Nothing grabbed our attention, so we ended up heading across the street to Kaminsky's for something sweet. For a kitchen that puts this much care into everything else, the dessert offerings felt like an afterthought. A couple of notes on the bill to be aware of: we were charged a few dollars for swapping a vegetable side. There was a 3% credit card surcharge that caught us off guard. When you're out with the family and the tab runs into the hundreds $, most folks are paying with a card. That's a fee I'd want to know about upfront. On the menu, from the server, somewhere visible before the check arrives. The bottom line: The Hollow is a creative, well executed restaurant with standout food and excellent service. If you're in Columbia, it's well worth a reservation.

I would say they should add a vegetarian/vegan entree option (or substitution) (beyond something mundane like a salad)- maybe I didn't look hard enough. We both ordered a drink, an appetizer to share and two entrées. The cheese ball appetizer was delicious! Great flavor but a bit small. My friend got the fried rice with steak and I ordered the chicken sandwich. Unfortunately, I ate a quarter of my sandwich before realizing that the inside of the chicken was still raw. When I flagged down a waitress, Kia, she could not have been more apologetic and said she would get me a new sandwich and the manager would bring it to me. After a few moments, the manager came up to our table with a new sandwich. She put it on the table and I cut it in half to make sure that this one was cooked. this woman said absolutely nothing to me i.e. announcing that she was the manager, apologizing for my raw chicken sandwich, ask us if there was anything else we needed, ask if my friend's food was OK. She did not say one word! She set the plate down and walked away. When I told our regular server, Haley, she was surprised and still very apologetic for the whole thing happening. It was a really fun Christmas experience simply because of all of the cute pop-up Christmas decor. I don't know that I would return for just a regular visit. I certainly will not be getting the chicken sandwich ever again if I do.
