The vibe the vibe the vibe... this cozy restaurant is located in downtown columbia. Let me tell you it's a vibe. It's a nice date spot or f you want to get away, this spot is secluded and quiet. It's worth the visit!! The bartenders are very friendly and hold conversation. I did not try any food because we had reservations elsewhere. The menu does not have a lot on it. 6 items is what you can choose from. I may try the chop on nmh next visit. The drinks are spot on. The right mix of alcohol. Not overpowering but enough for you to feel. I will def come back and visit.

If you're are looking for a great brunch spot with a live DJ this place is a great option. Younger crowd but good food and good drinks. We had chicken and waffles and chicken and French toast both were good!! Food came out hot like fresh out the kitchen!! The chicken bites were full of flavor! We were skeptical when the server recommended them bc I'm a bone in kind of girl but he was right! They were flavorful and crunchy! Drinks were good and reasonability priced. This place is known for their live music so i can't wait to come back.

Stopped by here with a friend on Wednesday night for karaoke. The sitting room was very nice and quaint. Not a huge area but just enough space to not be on top of each other. I ordered a few drinks from the bar and the bartender was super sweet. The drinks were good. I sang a few songs and it was my first time out. It appeared as though the karaoke community was very strong here. Every singer who got up and sang were amazing! The vibe of the place was nice and the karaoke DJ was awesome! I will definitely be back

Usually nice having an unusually bad evening... NOT my issue.

No idea what's up with this place tonight. Been here several times before and thought it was a great place. Tonight we brought my son, daughter and her boyfriend and they were completely different. Ordered two things on the drink menu. Both times, "we don't have that". Ordered Bees Knees. Bartenders rolling their eyes, refusing to serve top shelf drinks in glassware claiming there is none... obviously plenty behind the counter in plain site. Only thing I can figure is that they disrespected my 25 and 26 year old USC Graduate son and daughter. Never treated the wife and me this way. Shame on you. Not sure we'll be back. DO NOT DISRESPECT YOUR CUSTOMERS !! They/we pay your bills. Really annoying that we came here to have a nice time only to have the staff adversely impact our evening. Too bad. We really liked this place. Ambiance would be awesome I'd the staff would appreciate their clientele.

We went on a Sunday and grooved for over two hours to a live jazz band. The space is small with like a dozen tables indoors and 2-3 tables outside. The offerings here were comfort with a twist. 3 of us had the chicken and waffles...so good. The chicken was double fried with fresh waffles and a spicy syrup. Everyone around us seemed to be enjoying themselves as well. Saving a star to try something else when we go back.

This place is awesome. It's small & very inviting. They have a live band often and have recently added a Latin jazz band to their lineup. I've been here three times and have loved each time more than before. Their menu has a great variety of food, even vegan options. Their cocktails are crafted with care, perfectly executed each time I've had one. Try the Old Fashion and Sweet & Spicy cauliflower. You won't be disappointed!

This is one of my favorite chill spots when I am in Columbia. I wished they had a broader bourbon list but the flatbread and steak make up for the lack of drinks. Always some good love jazz playing which is what Columbia needs more of.

The food surpassed my expectations, particularly the red pepper dip. I also saw the teriyaki beef tacos and thought they'd be meh, but they were really quite tasty! Did not order entrees. I would say they should add a vegetarian/vegan entree option (or substitution) (beyond something mundane like a salad)- maybe I didn't look hard enough. The service was good but not anything to rave about. We were there at what seemed to be a relatively slow time of day/week (maybe 20% of the restaurant was full). Nothing bad to say here. The pricing was as expected. Pretty typical. Also, why no champagne on the menu?! Come on guys (lol, again, maybe I didn't look hard enough). So- 4 out of 5. Not knocking it because of any complaints, it's just pretty average for Columbia. Though I do think they deserve higher than 3.6 based on my experience.

We were so excited to try this place because neither of us had ever been there. We walked in to a beautifully Christmas themed decorated bar with a fun vibe. We were seated upstairs, which gave us an amazing view of all the decor. Haley was our server and was great, offering great suggestions as to what was popular on the menu. We both ordered a drink, an appetizer to share and two entrées. The cheese ball appetizer was delicious! Great flavor but a bit small. My friend got the fried rice with steak and I ordered the chicken sandwich. Unfortunately, I ate a quarter of my sandwich before realizing that the inside of the chicken was still raw. When I flagged down a waitress, Kia, she could not have been more apologetic and said she would get me a new sandwich and the manager would bring it to me. After a few moments, the manager came up to our table with a new sandwich. She put it on the table and I cut it in half to make sure that this one was cooked. this woman said absolutely nothing to me i.e. announcing that she was the manager, apologizing for my raw chicken sandwich, ask us if there was anything else we needed, ask if my friend's food was OK. She did not say one word! She set the plate down and walked away. When I told our regular server, Haley, she was surprised and still very apologetic for the whole thing happening. It was a really fun Christmas experience simply because of all of the cute pop-up Christmas decor. I don't know that I would return for just a regular visit. I certainly will not be getting the chicken sandwich ever again if I do.

We ended up stopping at The Grand around 9/9:30pm on a Saturday. Upon entering the hostess informed us they were currently only serving the late night menu. We said no problem and elected to grab seats at the bar. There were several empty tables and a few empty seats @ the bar. However, the only two seats together at the bar needed to be cleared from the last patrons that were seated. We stood there for over 20 mins while Jacob continued to walk by never acknowledging us or the fact that we couldn't sit. When he finally cleared the dishes he just walked away, never cleaning the area. When he returned he still never greeted us or apologized for the wait, the mess... nothing. Jacob: What are you having? Me: Well hello... Jacob: Yea... what do you want? Me: Wow... ok. For starters can you please whip off the bar so we can properly have a seat. There is still food residue here from the last customers. ** we get a visible huff** He wipes down the bar and we proceed to order drinks, while he never really speak any more it's all via motions and body language. Amongst ourselves we check in with one another to confirm that we both were feeling very unwelcome. Instantly we decide that we will not be ordering anything additional and will be leaving after this one drink. Which is just as well because Jacob never returns. Someone , whom I can only assume was of a mangement status, asked if Jacob was helpful and we promptly and simultaneously said no and that we would like or bill. She shook her head in utter disbelief and disgust but then she also disappeared. Just so happened that Diamond, whom was on the other side of the bar happen to walk pass. She stopped and asked if we were ok after witnessing our frustration. We explained that we wanted the check and why we were leaving. She was super apologetic and closed out our tab. Her energy literal turned the experience around and if she would have came to our rescue sooner we would have considered staying. Thank you Diamond. Just A Note: Unfortunately, bad first impression because The Grand seems like it may offer a good time with the bowling lanes in the back.

The appetizers were wonderful, smoked meatball, shrimp cocktail, what I believe was a crab dip ( what ever it was was incredible) The main course, left a little to be desired, prime rib was perfectly cooked and tender, but the chicken dish was bland and flavorless. Bison, elk, boar, rabbit. These are proteins you don't see on most menus. The restaurant leans into a woodland theme with greenery hanging throughout the space. It borders on a bit much, but the open kitchen visible from the dining room grounds the whole experience and adds a nice touch of theater. The seating was comfortable and well spaced, perfect for a family dinner where you actually want to hear each other talk. Our server was outstanding, easily 5 out of 5. She knew the menu cold, offered thoughtful recommendations, and struck that ideal balance of attentive without being intrusive. She made the evening better. The drinks were mostly a win. Two cocktails were excellent, creative and well balanced. A third was over iced and fell flat. Minor miss, but worth noting. The food is where The Hollow really shines. The charcuterie board was a fantastic start, featuring a well curated spread of wild game meats, quality cheeses, fig, and mustard. The mains delivered across the board: salmon, elk, and bison all came out beautifully with great flavor and generous portions. The sides deserved their own applause, which isn't something I say often. The dessert menu was the one soft spot. Nothing grabbed our attention, so we ended up heading across the street to Kaminsky's for something sweet. For a kitchen that puts this much care into everything else, the dessert offerings felt like an afterthought. A couple of notes on the bill to be aware of: we were charged a few dollars for swapping a vegetable side. There was a 3% credit card surcharge that caught us off guard. When you're out with the family and the tab runs into the hundreds $, most folks are paying with a card. That's a fee I'd want to know about upfront. On the menu, from the server, somewhere visible before the check arrives. The bottom line: The Hollow is a creative, well executed restaurant with standout food and excellent service. If you're in Columbia, it's well worth a reservation.
