I have to say it but it really isn't all that good. I feel like the food is trying to be a fusion of everything with no distinct taste. Though you do get a lot for how much you pay. Also the servers just weren't that professional. The restaurant itself was dark and cozy though.

Everything we tried was absolutely amazing! Great atmosphere for date night! If planning for a weekend evening, make sure to have a reservation or expect no availability for a table until later in the evening, but bar seating is always available! All dishes looked amazing and tasted fantastic! Will be returning!

Not what I was hoping for. Very cool atmosphere and menu seemed like it was going to be great. It took a long time to get drinks and appetizers. The appetizers weren't good so we didn't end up ordering entrees.

This was my second time visiting The Dragon Room and sadly I was very disappointed because I brought a friend with me after bragging about my experience the first time. There are a few things that went wrong: 1). The music was SO LOUD that we could barely talk to each other. To the point that others around us were yelling to talk. Great music but didn't go with the vibe of the establishment. 2). The lady that took our order was very nice and helpful but unfortunately it took a very long time for this singular order of BAO BUNS to come out. I would say a good 30-40min on a Wednesday night around 7pm. 3). We ordered the Vegan Breakfast BAO BUNS and it wasn't at all as we expected. The tofu is tasteless, everything was spongy, and for a breakfast flare the mayo was heavy. I took one bite and left right where it was. BUT.... Every single staff member was welcome and willing to assist which is why I give it a 2 out of 5. So if you're looking for a cute, low lit, chill environment with decent music and cute drinks, I would recommend this place. Let me know if this was helpful!

I am obsessed with the dragon room! From the vibe to the food to the drinks and everything in between it is absolutely fabulous! The service is incredible! It seems very evident that the servers love their job because there doesn't seem to be much server turnaround which makes being a repeat customer that much more fun -- I think that's a testament to the management & manager, Monica! I'm always so impressed with The Dragon Room and would highly recommend!!

Beautiful pop up for valentine's/valentine's! Tue decor was so pretty and crafty! The food and drinks were tasty and inventive! Please stop in and appreciate excellence!

Amazing! Service...perfect amount of time checking on us vs letting us talk and enjoy ourselves, food o ya I want to go back and try everything now! KFC Sando everything I ever wanted in a fried chicken sandwich! Pickles spot on, sauce just right, chicken crunch crunch crunch perfection, the bun was topping on the "cake" it was soft and held up to the sauce and handling of the sandwich without turning to paste, so good I want one right now! Breakfast Bao - crispy pork belly need I say more? It was delicious and so many layers of flavor it has some yummy Japanese egg pancake thing that gave it so much umami flavor I need one every morning going forward. The vegan or vegetarian appetizers sampler was soo good! The pickles, the fried potatoes, the noodles with puréed squash, the green beans with sauce and crunchy bits, the only one we didn't love was the kimchi paste covered pickled radish, the radish was good but the paste was a bit overpowering. My wife got the vegan bao with tofu and let me try a bite it was delicious love the cilantro. She also got the udon noodles with peanut sauce and it was really good. The Japanese ale was also really good and complimented the meal very well. The low light was nice and weather was great so they had the doors open with a slight breeze it was very pleasant unless someone walked by smoking a cigarette but that passed quickly thankfully. Autumn was our server and she had a great smile and knew the menu very well.

I was looking for a great Asian food experience. This place really caught my interest. I was slightly disappointed with the food and service. The food was lacking authenticity, flavor, and freshness. We couldn't figure out what to order so we ordered a plate that had a little of everything, but the flavors weren't there. The dumplings were dipped in a sauce that was so sour we couldn't even eat them (we didn't know they were already dipped, if asked by server we would've asked for the sauce on the side.) The mushrooms didn't taste like freshly sautéed mushrooms at all. The rolls were so greasy. It just tasted like frozen food you would get at a grocery store to warm up. I would recommend for the servers to focus more on giving the customer the best experience they can offer, rather than only taking the order, making sure we don't need napkins, etc. A server should know what is the best selling, most flavorful drink/entree. I feel that we could've had a better experience if drinks/food were recommended to us. Anyway, I was a little sad that our child-less date night was not as good as I had hoped. But the ambience felt great and it's in a good location, I hope they can focus more on certain things.

I finally got to try the Dragon Room located in the Vista! They are a fusion Asian restaurant. Parking is free on Saturdays on the street if available. They open at 5pm and people where waiting when we arrived. They have a restaurant and cocktail bar. The ambience is inviting, we really loved this new addition to Columbia! The décor is really sexy and fun. All the food and drinks where packed with flavor. Our food was shared between two and it was plenty. Happy hour is between 5-6pm. I will have to go back and try other dishes for sure. Great place for some late night eats. Yes, the food is bit overpriced, but all restaurants have raised their prices. Tip: Treat yourself and enjoy!

I enjoyed dinner with work associates at the dragon room. We had multiple small plates that were all delicious, my favorite was the lamb dumplings! The pho and the Nasi Lemak were outstanding entrees with tons of robust flavor. They have a diverse cocktail menu with a focus on tiki style cocktails. David behind the bar is absolutely charming and brings a flare and great vibe to the already cool ambiance. The Dragon Room is a great choice for any occasion!

Do not sleep on this place. We went one night on a stopover in Columbia and have been dreaming of going back since. We sat at the bar, had amazing service where our bartender helped us pick drinks based off how we were feeling that day -- and we both were so happy with what we ended up with! Neither of us would have selected the drink we drank if we had just picked. The food was amazing also. Went with a number of small plates to try and share -- this was definitely the way to go. I love a place where a chef team is willing to experiment and try new things -- but also won't put something on the menu until it's perfect. That's exactly what this place is and does. Try everything, listen to your waiters and bartenders, and you won't go home unsatisfied.

What an incredible meal we had. Great atmosphere and the cocktail menu was huge and had riffs on drinks I've never seen anywhere else. Service was fantastic. We will be back.

Lobster rangoon dip - so yummy
    Rebecca N.

Drinks were fantastic. The blood orange margarita was phenomenal. Love the vibe and lighting, but can get noisy if it's full. Service was quick and friendly. Lobster rangoon dip appetizer was fantastic. For a main I got the ramen with the tofu that was recommended but I would not recommend this to someone else. It was probably a 2/5 for the ramen - flavor was bland, noodles were grainy and the tofu was wiggly / wet and not a good texture. Would recommend trying something else off the menu next time. Will be back but for the drinks and vibe mainly!

The food surpassed my expectations, particularly the red pepper dip. I also saw the teriyaki beef tacos and thought they'd be meh, but they were really quite tasty! Did not order entrees. I would say they should add a vegetarian/vegan entree option (or substitution) (beyond something mundane like a salad)- maybe I didn't look hard enough. The service was good but not anything to rave about. We were there at what seemed to be a relatively slow time of day/week (maybe 20% of the restaurant was full). Nothing bad to say here. The pricing was as expected. Pretty typical. Also, why no champagne on the menu?! Come on guys (lol, again, maybe I didn't look hard enough). So- 4 out of 5. Not knocking it because of any complaints, it's just pretty average for Columbia. Though I do think they deserve higher than 3.6 based on my experience.

I loved the rustic feel, everything made out of liquor barrels, the lighting top tier. For appetizers, my friend got the crab Rangoon toast, and we got wings and deviled eggs. The toast was really good but I felt like it was one note, it needed something to cut the creaminess. The deviled eggs were so good with the cracklin chicken skin on top and the wings were crispy and flavorful . I think they were my favorites of the day. My bf got the lobster roll which he said was really good. The bun is toasted, the lobster is cold but he said it's not like ice cold, it's the perfect temperature. My friends said the shrimp and grits and chopped cheese sandwich were amazing. Only thing I'd say about the shrimp and grits is that the kale sitting on top like that is off putting. It could have been plated a little better. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of my food because it came out last but I got the grilled steak cooked medium rare and it was perfect ! They did put finishing salt which made certain bits really salty so I didn't like that. But other than that, everything was so good. I'd give the experience a 9/10.

We ended up stopping at The Grand around 9/9:30pm on a Saturday. Upon entering the hostess informed us they were currently only serving the late night menu. We said no problem and elected to grab seats at the bar. There were several empty tables and a few empty seats @ the bar. However, the only two seats together at the bar needed to be cleared from the last patrons that were seated. We stood there for over 20 mins while Jacob continued to walk by never acknowledging us or the fact that we couldn't sit. When he finally cleared the dishes he just walked away, never cleaning the area. When he returned he still never greeted us or apologized for the wait, the mess... nothing. Jacob: What are you having? Me: Well hello... Jacob: Yea... what do you want? Me: Wow... ok. For starters can you please whip off the bar so we can properly have a seat. There is still food residue here from the last customers. ** we get a visible huff** He wipes down the bar and we proceed to order drinks, while he never really speak any more it's all via motions and body language. Amongst ourselves we check in with one another to confirm that we both were feeling very unwelcome. Instantly we decide that we will not be ordering anything additional and will be leaving after this one drink. Which is just as well because Jacob never returns. Someone , whom I can only assume was of a mangement status, asked if Jacob was helpful and we promptly and simultaneously said no and that we would like or bill. She shook her head in utter disbelief and disgust but then she also disappeared. Just so happened that Diamond, whom was on the other side of the bar happen to walk pass. She stopped and asked if we were ok after witnessing our frustration. We explained that we wanted the check and why we were leaving. She was super apologetic and closed out our tab. Her energy literal turned the experience around and if she would have came to our rescue sooner we would have considered staying. Thank you Diamond. Just A Note: Unfortunately, bad first impression because The Grand seems like it may offer a good time with the bowling lanes in the back.

The place is very well air conditioned, and the space is very intentional. Visiting from out of state the waitress seemed a bit shy/new but curious about Wisconsin she warmed up a little bit. It's really cool that you can see the chefs in their element behind a glass wall while you wait. The silverware, or should I say Goldwear was beautiful. I started out with the All American Spritz- it was good but nothing extraordinary. However when I tried the pistachio martini, I was in disbelief! I was skeptical to order it as I've never even heard of one before and was unsure how pistachio would translate into a martini. It was creamy and somehow savory and sweet at the same time, the alcohol taste was nonexistent. And the rim was coated in pistachio crumbs. Both the drinks presentation was beautiful. I personally ordered the bbq chicken sandwhich, with mac and cheese instead of fries for the side. The sandwich was smoky, I could not stop eating it! If anyone was wondering what so special about the mac and cheese, it's the name of the noodles. And yes, the waitress will sound it out with you lol! The Mac and cheese wasn't creamy, and I found it a bit bland unfortunately. There was no order the same in the group I came with. The truffle fries were on the thinner crispier side, neat that there were different color of potatoes used. The duck wings came out like their very own presentation. I tried the alligator bites, that were served with 2 sauces, I thought there were kind of chewy , and weird enough I guess I have a preference with how my alligator is served since having tried some at the Wisco State fair. I love that the menu feels curated, you know what you're there for and it's not overwhelming to pick from the options of something new. The bathroom was very cute too! And the bar area was lit up, a cool atmosphere.

That created a slightly rushed feeling right from the start of the experience. When the food arrived, it was not served hot. The fries were seasoned but came out cold, so we had to send them back. The service also felt a bit disengaged, as though the server was ready to wrap things up, even though there was still about 30 to 45 minutes before closing time. That said, once the food was remade and served hot, it was really good. My salad, however, was not the same experience, as the lettuce had brown spots throughout, which took away from the overall quality. You can tell the kitchen has potential when the food is prepared properly, but consistency is the issue. The ambience is very cool and visually appealing. It is a bit dark for my personal preference in the evening, but I can imagine it being bright and beautiful during the daytime. The cocktail I ordered was just okay and didn't really stand out. Overall, there is definitely potential here, but improvements in consistency, service attentiveness, and food quality control would really elevate the experience.
