Chicken Biryani
Grant B.

Still the best Indian food in the county. A local favorite of many BS&W medical pros. Go lighter than you think on the heat until you're sure you can handle it. Very refreshing & tasty dishes. The rice (biryani) & naan are simply perfect as is the dessert Gulab Jamon. Great spot for a date meal or hosting a group. Service is kind & the place is kept spotless. The cloth napkins & heavy silverware elicit a fine dining experience but with a casual atmosphere. Come in shorts or a tux, all the same, you won't feel out of place. Roopa's Kitchen is down home Indian with a royal feel. You'll be glad you went.

Food was fantastic! Service was great! We had a wonderful meal. I would recommend for sit down or take out service. We are definitely coming back.

Amazing vegan food in temple Texas. We had the onion and potato dosas which were phenomenal. Also got some lentil dish that wasn't as good but the rest was 10/10 . Nice quiet restaurant, fast service.

We checked out this place while in Temple, TX & was presently surprised about how delicious their food was! We started off with some samosas (potato pastries filled with savory potatoes & green peas. Served with tamarind sauce) along with the veg pakora (fried fritters drilled with mixed vegetables, flavored with spices. Served with a coconut dipping sauce). Both were extremely flavorful! For our entrée, we ordered Chana Masala (a chickpea dish cooked with tomatoes, ginger, garlic, & a blend of spices). We asked for it spicy & the waitress asked if we were sure. Since we both love spicy food, we said we were sure. But they definitely weren't lying about the spice level! So scrumptious but made one of us sweat lol We also ordered a side of garlic naan & avocado parota (100% whole wheat bread filled with fresh avocado & spices). Perfect for dipping into the Chana Masala! I highly recommend this place if you're in the neighborhood & are craving some authentic Indian food!

Naan was too thick, not fully cooked and the masala sauce runny.

Chicken masala was runny, Naan bread so thick it wasn't fully cooked. Very unpleasant.

Amazing food and service! I love it here and can't wait to go back! Great ambiance. Make sure you specify very very mild level of spicy if you are not used to Indian level of spiciness.

"Chicken" tikka masala weird color and bad meat.

Been here a few times. It's hit or miss, most consistently miss. Last time I went and got the same thing and it was good. Today it was almost inedible. It was matar paneer. It was curdled and slightly sour. Bread wasn't the normal garlic naan and my mom got chicken tikka masala and the chicken was very thin cut and very dark- questionable even for dark meat chicken. Most of the time that dish is made with white meat. Meat was very poor quality and we asked and were told it was chicken, I'm still skeptical. I am hoping my mom doesn't get sick. The chai was however delicious. Staff is not friendly and barely checks on the table. We were the only people in there. They have no half portions or children's. There's a better place near Killeen and several in Austin that are worth the drive. This one is convenient, but I think they have no quality control due to the fact there's no competition in the area and most people likely don't know better if this has been their only Indian food experience of how things should taste. I am married to an Indian and very familiar with the Americanized and authentic cuisine, so even for Americanized Indian food, this isn't good.

I love a good dosa and Sangam Chettinad provided this! I came here with a few people. I can tell…read morethat this place can get busy quickly so I was glad to have come early. I ordered their masala dosa and it was everything I was looking for. The dosa was light and crispy and paired well with the complementary sauces. My favorite sauce was the minty one; its so refreshing. If you don't have a high tolerance for spicy, be cautious of which dish you order because some of them are packed with some heat. My husband ordered their egg biryani and it ended up being way too spicy for him to eat. Don't underestimate the spice level. We didnt ask but I wonder if we could have adjusted the spice level so that it wasnt too spicy. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They answered all my questions. Tuesday is Dosa night which means unlimited dosa. I would love to go back to enjoy dosa night!

We like Indian food but aren't the most familiar, so we had to ask them to help explain the menu and for recommendations. We ordered 3 dishes which were super generous. The dosa was deceivingly large, the spicy pepper chicken was spicier than we thought, and then with the butter chicken we definitely had leftovers. Everything was great though, so I was happy to try it. We'll be returning! I really wanted to try the sampler I saw on Google, but it was lunch only. Next time!

They've recently renovated the space, and it now feels more upscale while still being comfortable and welcoming. Today I ordered a chicken tandoori-style dish, along with the butter chicken and garlic naan, and everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich, well-seasoned, and clearly made with care. The butter chicken in particular was outstanding, and the garlic naan was the perfect complement. One of my favorite little touches is the adorable robot that sometimes delivers your food--it always makes the experience even more fun. Between the consistently great food, excellent service, and the refreshed atmosphere, this place continues to be a favorite of mine. I'll definitely be returning many more times.

Even though it's pretty basic amongst so many other dishes they had, I got the Chicken Tikka Masala, medium spice. The portion size is pretty good, and the dish had a generous amount of chicken in it. It also came with a side of rice. I enjoyed the flavor! I'd say for medium spice it wasn't that spicy - felt more like a mild to me. Honestly, I'm pretty surprised to have found good Indian food in Round Rock. Despite the good food, I'm knocking off a star due to the fairly slow service. We were sitting outside so I'm not sure if at times they forgot about us, but I ended up having to walk in the store to ask someone to take our order because no one had come in a while. Our food also came out at different times; the first few dishes came, and then it felt like there was a solid ~5-8 minutes before the rest of the dishes came.

One of the most memorable dishes we had was a special that our server highly recommended--and it was truly a showstopper. I wish I had gotten the exact name because I can't find it on their online menu, but visually and flavor-wise it was stunning. It came wrapped and cooked in a banana leaf, layered with rich, velvety saag, what tasted like thin dosa or chapati layers, egg, aromatic spices, tender chunks of meat, and curry, all melded together into this beautifully perfumed, steamy package. It was served with a cooling yogurt sauce and a chili sauce that balanced the heat perfectly. The presentation alone was gorgeous, and the flavors were deep, earthy, and incredibly comforting. We also ordered the curry goat, which was delicately spiced with a wonderful, slow-building heat. The meat was tender, the gravy rich without being heavy, and it paired perfectly with the simple white rice that let the complex spices shine. The tandoori goat chops were the family favorite by far. Everyone loved the smoky char and bold marinade. Personally, I found them a bit softer than I prefer, but the flavor was outstanding--robust, well-seasoned, and unmistakably tandoori. Finally, we ordered the Tandoori Pomfret to go, and I had it later with rice porridge. It was absolutely scrumptious. The fish was fragrant, beautifully spiced, and still juicy, making it the perfect comfort meal with the warm, soothing porridge. Overall, Subham Chettinad Grill delivers authentic, soulful Indian cooking with layers of spice, heat, and aroma that feel both traditional and thoughtfully prepared. If you're looking for real South Indian and Chettinad-style flavors in Austin, this place is a must-try.
