Totally worth seeing both when in the area. The drive was beautiful. Water levels are a bit low, but still amazing. The flowers are already in bloom, but will be even better by end of February into March if you'd love to see them. I love poppies but there are so many more flowers also in bloom, to see the best area I'd recommend the area just before Rattlesnake Cove . There is a small trail with roadside parking if lucky. Or can park in the cove parking and small hike back up to area. You do need to pay for a rec pass if parking and spending the day. You can purchase at stores nearby or roadside spots you'll see along the way. Traffic wasn't too bad today but as it warms up and flowers more in bloom be prepared. There is also a restaurant near the boat dock as well.

We arrived between 6-630p and the main parking lot was full, but there was another lot close by that had some spots open. Lots of people were swimming and hanging out on the beach. There were lots of boats and jet skis too. It was a really great night/sunset with the canyons surrounding the lake. Kind of a cloudy sky, but the stars eventually came out! A very relaxing time! Woods Canyon Lake is one of seven lakes in the Rim Lakes Recreation Area and is one of the most visited. Swimming is allowed, but at your risk, the water is cold, which on a warm day is perfect. But this lake is known to have a lot of rusty hooks so tread carefully. Woods Canyon Lake is great for paddle boarding, kayaking, you can even rent boats to put around in.

My Yelp friend Monica E. said it was one of her favorite so I had to check it out. Willow Springs Lake was actually created in 1966 by the Arizona Game and Fish Department as a trout fishing lake. They regularly stock the lake with trout spring through fall increasing your chance of catching a fish. Willow Springs is the second most visited lake so there will be competition for those fish. Willow Springs Lake has held the Arizona State record for largest trout caught so there are some big fish in the lake. There is a campground about a mile away. The lake website said it was in walking distance but it's more than I want to walk with chairs, cooler, etc. The campground has no services (water, electricity, sewer hookups) so you need to come prepared. Overall, it's a beautiful blue, clean lake in a pine forest that is a wonderful place to see and enjoy.
