If you don't have a boat don't come. Paid 12 bucks to drive around and look at full parking spots and absolutely no where by to the water that wasn't dangerous. They definitely need to make some more spots to be right by the water instead of boulders and big drop offs and read more

I came paddle boarding here on a Saturday evening with some friends. We parked at the Butcher Jones area. We arrived between 6-630p and the main parking lot was full, but there was another lot close by that had some spots open. Lots of people were swimming and hanging out on the beach. There were lots of boats and jet skis too. It was a really great night/sunset with the canyons surrounding the lake. Kind of a cloudy sky, but the stars eventually came out! A very relaxing time! I would definitely come back here! read more

We had a fantastic time on saguaro Lake. The scenery is beautiful. I love how the cacti grow off the side oft the towering sheer rock. We saw some fish jumping out of the water and some mountain goats. The drive to the lake is also very nice. Sometimes we see wild horses. The lake is a little smaller so you feel it when there are several boats on the water. It does get a pretty choppy. They have a long narrow section of the lake that is no wake. I would say about 75% of the people abide by the no wake rule. We like this area and drop anchor close to the large rock formation where there is the most shade. Tip: We've eaten at the restaurant that is by the lake. It's pretty good. My husband loves their hamburgers! read more

Very serene lake and it's a nice get away just to be around water and nature. The cafe was nice to eat when it was open. Wish they had more food options there. It's fun to see boats pass by. Scenery overall is pretty and refreshing especially when it's a super warm day. read more

I had not been there in 30 plus years and heard it was another spot to see the elusive wild horses, and possibly big horn sheep so decided to try it out. There are different sections / parts like a restaurant and some boat launches but if you stay to the left you can go over to the picnic / hiking area and it looks like your America the beautiful national park pass gets you in for free. The lake is nice, scenic, peaceful and there were herons, hawks, ducks, and other assorted birds. Glad we did a quick stop to check it out. read more

There are 2 entrances to the park. The Butcher entrance is a roundabout park with lake shore boat entrance and a trail around side perimeter of lake entrance. I know its nature and was concerned reading about the fellow yelpers discussing the bug situation, but its true! It was overwhelming for us. We had to leave to finish eating our sandwiches at their other beautiful parks. We were swarmed by flies, bees and cackling birds. Sorry, it was that bad for us. Just don't bring and eat food at this particular park. Beautiful lake, friendly people and a joy to Kayak on. Make sure to put up your Tonto parking pass! read more

It's really hard to find a Sandy beach to just lay out on My boyfriend and I have two German Shepherds and from what we could see and after asking a few people it was really rocky and that's cool if it was just us and not the dogs but I guess there is about a mile long hike someone told us about but a lot of it was really pretty Rocky too. We never planned on coming here but saw on the map that there's a lake. So, we drove to check it out. We were pleased to see that there's the a boat that goes in the water for tours. We got here at 11:30 am and the boat leaves at 12 noon. So, we grabbed tickets and jumped on the boat. :) It was such a pleasant trip and the perfect weather to be out here. What a great experience for us and our kids! I so very much highly recommend!! read more

We come to this lake often because it is the closest body of water to home. It's a mellow place especially during the week. There are plenty of grills so bring dinner and enjoy a lovely sunset. The S/O fishes off the dock but I cant say he has been successful. You can look down and see the fish so that is a tad frustrating. There is something for everyone here. The boat rentals are fun but it is a smallish lake so a half day is plenty to explore the whole thing. The saguaros jutting into the blue,blue sky is quintessential Arizona. A few hours at the Lake releases all that urban angst and reminds you why you live here. read more

Beautiful Lake, and what seems to be an unlimited amount of 4-wheel drive trails along the northern outback, and I need to stress 4-WHEEL DRIVE! A buddy visiting from So Cal, and I ventured out yesterday to the Butcher Jones trail head and thankfully found the gate open on the north side of the parking area. The USFS Ranger was just arriving and taking his daily tour into the back country as we were airing-down the Wayngler's beefy 35's and dis-connecting the swaybar. We encountered another 4X enthusiast, which I find are the coolest, as they are experienced and respect the wild unpaved roads. The trails start off rather tame, and very sandy and soft until you climb up the many ridges that take you north and east to several small ravines and washes that run southward to the lake. Getting down into these washes offer some very technical opportunities, if you are not prepared with meaty tyres, articulating suspensions, or lockers, you may find yourself stuck, or worse, roll over...not a pretty sight. Key here: Know your limits. Several situations found me saying, "aah, maybe not", while other situations found me saying, "OH YA, BRING IT ON!!!" We saw several vehicles that had no business out there, and two that were stuck...one abandoned, and another dumb ars saying, "oh no, we're fine"....yea right, whatever, we offered. We found several small coves along the northern shore that were perfect for pulling your chair into the waters edge and literally, "chill". Water was not what I was used to from colder high mountain lakes, but not too warm either, and very refreshing! Several shady spots, too, to keep the Jeep covered worked out great and because of the difficulty in getting down to the lake, the weekend crowds were non existent...let me know if ya wanna go! read more

Hi my name is Alice I'm currently sitting in my car right now wile my husband and three children are out on the lake what I am most angered about is the planning, I came here yesterday at 2:45 and they said they where not open. I said ok what about tomorrow and asked specifically if I could bring my dogs I spoke to 2 different people who all said yes dogs were allowed on the boat I brought my two dogs today and we signed the waiver there is nothing in the waiver that said anything about not being able to bring dogs no signs, nothing. I'm extremely disappointed in the service I am not allowed to bring my service dog on the boat and I'm sitting in my car for the next two hours service animal discrimination is a huge thing and should not be taken lightly you will be hearing from my lawyer I am extremely disappointed in this service. read more

Saguaro Lake, I hear also known as Pebble Beach, was the best for bathing and relaxing on floats, (You can also hike) it has beautiful views. Don't forget your own shade, chairs, and plenty of drinks with your picnic. Looks like it's a popular place, get there early and Don't forget to stop at the marina to get your pass, parking isn't free, you can get a ticket. We drove from Tucson to fish at this lake and it was very active. I caught two yellow bass, one Sunfish, and a Bluegill in a few hours. You need a day pass ($6) to fishing during the day. They have a nice boat marine and there is plenty of parking and fishing docks. Give Saguaro lake a try. They have Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Yellow Bass, Crappie, Sunfish, Catfish, Walleye, and carp. read more

We went out the lake last night and caught some catfishes, it was nice when you went to fishing and some fishes! Early evening it was nice, but later by 11:00 it was cold that we have put on our jackets. Brenda, the manager at the Saguaro Lake Marina has absolutely no customer service skills and was very unprofessional. I called to hold a reservation for a boat and they took my entire credit card number with the expiration date. I asked if the credit card number was in a secure area and was told it would sit in the reservation book for the entire month leading up to the reservation date. I explained, very maturely and politely my concerns of the credit card number sitting in a book at the front desk for an entire month. Without hesitation, Brenda became very hostile in conversation and said if I did not like it, don't book it and hung up in my face. When I called back to cancel my reservation and request my number be removed from the book and let her know just how unprofessional she handled that concern, she would not take the call. The young man who did answer the phone would not give me her last name. All of a sudden, nobody had a name. I would not trust a company who's management or employees can not talk like a mature adult and can not appreciate the concerns of credit card theft. read more
