We spent the day at Lake Bartlett Marina with some friends who are considering signing up for a monthly membership. They've been on the waiting list and wanted to check out the fleet of boats included with the membership and get out on the water, and we were happy to tag along! We ended up on a pontoon with a full shade cover, which was a huge plus. Since it was a super hot August day and we were out during full sun, having complete shade made a big difference compared to a half-shade boat. We were also given a tube, which the kids were VERY excited about! We did have to wait a while before getting on the boat even with our 1pm reservation, but our friends were going through all of the membership information and learning how everything works. It just took a while to get that started. While we waited, the kids had fun feeding the fish the fish food, and of course we ended up grabbing a few snacks from the shop. One area that could use some improvement is the parking and signage. It was a little confusing figuring out where to go. We initially turned off in the wrong area, had to drive back up, and then continued on to find the guest parking and rental area. The walk down to the marina wasn't marked particularly well either, although we eventually figured it out. Once we were out on the water, though, it was beautiful! The lake and surrounding mountains are gorgeous, and it was such a fun way to spend a Sunday. One thing that took us a little while to get used to was that the lake traffic goes counterclockwise--it felt a little strange at first, but we got the hang of it! It did seem like they may have been a little understaffed while we were there. There were member boats coming back in, families waiting to head out, and other people picking up and returning rental boats, while we only saw one person working behind the counter and another who was busy getting boats ready. It may have just been the staffing for that particular Sunday, so I can't say if that's typical. Overall, we had a great day on the water! The kids had a blast, the boat was comfortable, and the scenery was beautiful. I think our friends may be signing up for the membership, so it definitely seems like they got a good feel for what Lake Bartlett Marina has to offer. Absolutely unacceptable experience. Our boat broke down after just one hour on the lake, and we never drove it faster than 15 mph. We were left stranded in the middle of the water, sitting in the heat waiting to be towed back. Instead of taking responsibility, the company immediately tried to shift the blame. They told us they needed a mechanic to determine if it was "user error," and now, days later, they're saying they likely won't refund us. That's completely unreasonable. We paid for a working boat and got a breakdown within an hour there's no justification for that. The worst part is how they handled it. No accountability, no urgency, and no concern for the fact that we lost our entire rental time due to their equipment failing. I would strongly advise against booking here. If their boat fails which clearly can happen you'll be stuck out on the lake, wasting your time in the sun, and then potentially blamed for it with no refund. read more

This review is for the general store and restaurant at the marina. There's tons of seating inside and out. The menu is limited with only one gluten free option I could find. The chips and salsa were $12 but they are fried in the same fryer as flour items so I passed. We just got a drink and enjoyed the view. The servers were nice and pleasant. Worth the beautiful drive ! The worst service ever ... bottom line . I tipped 5$ per drink but no attention from the dumb bartender

Let me preface by saying if you look at my other reviews, I rarely if ever give a bad one! I've rented boats numerous times at other marinas. I went here because of a Groupon. Insurance at other local marinas is optional. At Bartlett Lake they said it was mandatory and charged $83. They also OVERcharged $2.50/per gallon for gas. The facility is nowhere near the quality you're going to get at Scorpion Bay or Lake Pleasant Marina. From the confusing, dirty parking lot to the closed restaurants and out of order bathrooms... It was a mess! Gladly would've paid more and skipped the Groupon to go to Scorpion Bay. Would give zero stars if I could. read more

The lake levels were noticeably low when we visited, but the atmosphere was lively with plenty of friendly people and excellent service. My son and I decided to try stand-up paddle boarding for the first time, enjoying a scenic trip across the lake despite the windy evening. We felt welcomed by the other boaters and didn't perceive any safety concerns. Renting the boards from the knowledgeable and friendly gentleman, who was a former pro with fascinating stories, was a great experience. His helpful tips and guidance added to the enjoyment. We rented a pontoon boat on Sat, 7/5 and while we had a very nice time, we we disappointed by the service. While we were on the water we went to throw the anchor out and did not realize that the anchor was not pre-tied to the boat and we wound up losing it. The Marina made us pay $100 for a new anchor. For a rental company, it is crazy for the them to not ensure the anchor is tied to the boat and then expect guests to automatically know that the anchor was not pre-tied without mentioning. Also, apparently the insurance we were required to purchase did not cover it. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Bartlett Lake Marina. read more

We rented a pontoon boat. It was totally beat up and junky. The guy helping give us directions told us that we could not put the canvass tarp down. I think he was too lazy to be bothered putting it back up. He then told my husband that we had to be back at 4:30, although we had the 4 hour rental. I wasn't there when he told him that, I learned that after we left the dock. When we came back in I asked the lady at the desk about it and she said no, 5:00 was our return time. Pretty sure the guy wanted to be done at 5 so he could go home. I asked her about refunding our $50 for the half hour we didn't get, but we never received any refund. With the dumpy pontoon boats and feeling rushed, etc. I don't really recommend this place. read more

Definitely a fun lake, beautiful landscape, nice coves tons of fishing spots, many trails. The marina offers many boat rentals, I would reserve it online as apposed to showing up and expecting a rental, u might not get. Summers to my understanding gets really booked up so plan ahead, also don't do a half day rental get it for the full day because half day is not enough for that lake. From experience. read more

Attempted for 5 days straight to make a reservation for a weekday boat rental. I purchased a Groupon so I couldn't book online even though the instructions tell you to do so. There is absolutely nowhere online to enter the redemption code from your Groupon. So I attempted to call/text/email daily for 5 days. The furthest I got was a text twice asking "How can I help you?" followed by me responding and then no answer from them. I found a different number to call and the guy told me my best bet would be to book online. I informed him that I had a Groupon and he said "oh yeah you have to call Ryan" and gave me a different number than any numbers listed. Of course Ryan does not answer and doesn't even have a voicemail box setup to leave a message. This is the most unprofessional experience I have ever had. I ended up getting a refund for my Groupon and will be taking my business to a different lake's marina where I've always been valued as a customer and have a 5 star experience every time. Avoid buying a Groupon for here, they will never let you book!!! read more

My husband and I rented a 19' speed boat from here last year. It was our first time to Bartlett Lake, and we were looking forward to a great day. We usually rent Pontoon boats but thought a change might be good. When we were shown the boat last year, it was filthy and to be honest looked like and was a boat that was falling apart. We chalked it up to we won't be renting that again. Yesterday, friends of ours wanted to go to Bartlett since they had never been there. They happened to find a Groupon for a pontoon boat. We arrived yesterday morning and I laughed out loud when the guy brought us to the pontoon boat, clearly falling apart and dented up everywhere, captain's chair was wobbly and about to fall off, filthy seats, broken metal pieces that held the gates on the back and front of the boat, just yuk. I didn't even want my skin touching on the seats they were so dirty. I asked the guy if there was another boat, he said there was but this was the "Groupon" boat. I have never heard of such a thing. The whole point of a groupon is to try something new and if it's as great as we expect we will pay full price for the next rental. Unfortunately, they think otherwise. We have rented boats all over the US and have never come across such a disappointing experience as this marina, both last year and this year. With that being said they have lost 4 boat rental customers and I definitely would not recommend this marina for boat rentals. If my phone had reception I would have taken pictures. The boats they show on the web site are not the ones you rent. Also a very long walk up hill getting to your vehicle afterwards it was 107 and with all our supplies it would have been nice to be taken by golf cart to our car, they have them. we did use a cart, but it was challenging for me as a 65 year old woman. read more

Renting a pontoon boat and taking it out for an afternoon tour around the lake, a swim, and a picnic lunch with a drink is one of our favorite summertime activities. The drive up to Bartlett Lake from Phoenix is spectacular and takes just under an hour. We went up today and the water is the perfect temperature and at a great level. It was a blast to cruise around the lake and watch all the other boats and waterskiiers and take a little dip. There are fish that will come nibble your feet if you stand still in the water for a long time but if you are actively swimming in the water they leave you alone. We have always found the rental boats to be perfectly fine--they are not brand new top of the line watercraft but they are clean, serviceable and actually their sound systems are great. You can sync your phone up with the boat speakers and play your playlist. read more

Who says AZ is completely landlocked? So it may be a little bit of a drive, but going out on the lake is such a great escape from the crazy summer heat... This lake is not as crazy as lake Pleasant, and it's very family friendly. I highly advise making friends with someone who has a boat so you can go often! It's absolutely beautiful! read more

Only suggestion I have is I think you should provide the gas. We aren't 'boat people' but we do enjoy getting out on the water once in a while. For a family get-together we rented a covered pontoon boat for 4 hours and a couple of jet skis for 1/2 that time. The shade provided by the pontoon cover was definitely required and helped keep us cool in the 100 degree weather. It was a pleasant way to spend the morning. We rented the Avalon Paradise 22ft for half day and the boat was amazing we had a blast. Did the toy package and the kids loved it. The boat was perfect and nice and clean. I received an email from the owner about our horrible experience and said he would get back to me. After a week I emailed him again and still no response. They are in the wrong business to not know that boats need maintenance. That after pic they showed us of the damaged propeller did not have my initials on it nor my sisters!! They never showed us the before pic but conveniently showed us the after pic upon returning the boat. $740 to rent the boat for 4 hours CRAZY!! Yet they took almost an hour before we actually got to use the boat because of the guy helping us with our life jackets and helping other people at the same time. Therefore it was actually 3 hours on the boat. . They are scheming people out of money!! Shame on you!! See my original complaint. The boat had plenty of power to pull the toy and plenty of room for all of useful to spread out and relax in the sun. Five star experience at Bartlett Lake Marina. Rented a pontoon boat for a half day on probably the nicest afternoon ever. The boat was clean, in great condition, super comfortable, and allowed us to explore this Arizona treasure end to end. 110HP allowed for a good cruising speed and definitely felt safe at the helm. The marina staff were without exception friendly, helpful, flexible, and professional. Not exactly a cheap outing but very much in line with (or possibly a bit less) than the going rate at the other lakes near Phoenix. I will definitely be back to Barlett, and i couldn't recommend the marina more for rentals. read more

Bartlett is a decent-sized lake, and not too crowded. It's best feature is the availability of beaches that you can either drive to (in a 4WD vehicle) or boat to, and camp on. FYI, it's also home to the twice-a-year big gay campout, known as Bartlett Bash. read more

I had a reservation from 1:30 pm-5:30 pm. There's no signage on where to check-in, the staff hate their jobs and are surly with poor customer service. As if asking a question is bothersome in a service-related industry. I was instructed to be back by 5:00 pm even though the reservation indicated 5:30 pm. We drove the pontoon maybe 100 feet and floated in the water only to have the anchor tangle up in metal fencing, ropes, and other skin-piercing debris. The boat dude tried filling up the gassed up tank only to have it overflow into the already contaminated lake. I didn't contract Covid-19 from the experience but likely need a tetanus shot and probably incubating various forms of mutant yeast in my nether regions. If I had a time machine I'd rewind and buy a kiddie pool instead of dealing with this glorified septic tank. read more

A great day on Bartlett Lake. Rented a 20 foot pontoon boat for 4 hours. Staff was friendly and very helpful and rental charge was very reasonable. The lake was not crowded and there is a lot of water to explore. Only issue is the only bathrooms are at the marina so if you are not willing to go into the lake you have to run back to the marina to use the restrooms.
