Easily one of the worst lakes I've ever gone to. Three of us suffered glass and metal cuts on our feet. The water smells like rotting catfish. I thought Tempe town lake smelled bad until I went to this one. Gonna be a hard pass. read more

This is a pretty lake in the middle of the AZ desert. It's a nice view when driving through the area. The lake can be seen for miles. Lots of people take boats out on the lake. It is located northeast of the Phoenix area and is about 2 hours from Phoenix. There's no direct route to the lake from Phoenix, so depending on where you're coming from, you may have to drive a round about way to get here. Very pretty and there's lots of nearby campgrounds and hiking. read more

The staff at the store are great to deal with and a special shout out to Carl at the store he went above and beyond for us. This Marina has the monopoly in my humble opinion, over the public rights. If you do not know, the Marina is a contracted commercial site. It is managed by Tonto National Forest. It is a public facility and is not owned by "The Family". The staff needs serious education on policies,procedures and federal/state/county laws. I feel the management is running amuck and need to be more responsive to customers. ***The RLMAZ.com website does not inform the public that they are managed by Federal and National Agencies which is (I believe) part of the operational plan and required. ***Voice your complaints to: the USDA, Tonto National Forest Service, The Secretary of the Interior, The Attorney General, Federal registry for National Forest and Parks and any other agency that might listen. If you feel you have been discriminated against file a complaint with USDA. This facility location is ran by , in my opinion, under authoritarian rule makers and you as a customer have the right to voice your concerns. The beauty of Roosevelt overshadows what this place is trending to. Ffinches used to have a full menu and staff. Now they don't do breakfast anymore and the menu is cut to pub grub. The gal who's edged us was great but they are clearly running a skeleton crew. The convenience store inventory is half of what it used to be. The RV park spots are littered with dog crap and the spots are not being maintained. There are dips in nearly every spot that they didn't take the time to level after this winters wet season. Thus hard to get your RV level. Disappointed. Loved this place previous. Will look elsewhere going forward. read more

Where to begin. This review is solely for the BITTER & AWFUL women who work in the store. It is long but trust me, it is worth the read. My Husband & I visited Roosevelt lake on 4/16 & planned to stay at the nearby motel/resort. We launched our boat, a 1970 Glastron open bow boat at around 11 am & made a complete circle of the entire lake. We were under the bridge taking photos when my Husband happened to turn around and realize water was rushing in from the back of the boat (engine snapped off of the transom). Luckily he reacted quickly, getting us to shore before she was completely submerged. Once we had her at the shore line we proceeded to remove all items from the boat, and tied it to the largest boulder we could find. Being stranded we had to call 911 for rescue. This all happened around 4:30, and Officer Dudson arrived around 7pm. We ultimately stayed the night at the resort/motel, with plans to recover our boat the following day. We started for the Marina at 9am. We entered the store, and explained our situation to the two woman at the registers, asking about the concierge services for boat recovery. One woman replied that "they didn't have enough staff that day and we wouldn't want to hear the prices they charged". Ultimately telling us they couldn't help and were clueless as to who could.... REALLY? You work at a lake, surely you know SOMEONE who offers salvage services? We continued our search for help by going to the general store up the road. Their advice? Go to The Marina Store. As we had already done that they suggested the Sheriff. We visited their station however no one was there. We THEN proceeded down to the dry storage for advice. A very nice gentleman advised us again, to go to the Marina Store. Once we explained we already had & they couldn't help us he suggested going down to the actual Marina, to see if they could help. In the meantime, I took another peek at Roosevelt Lake Marina's website, & low & behold, they offer salvage services!! (Picture attached, screenshot from their website today). I called back to store inquiring about their $300/hr salvage services. The lackluster and awful woman who answered the phone vehemently denied these services, said they were NOT listed on their website(seriously?!), & they did NOT have a barge for recovery. I suggested they remove the services from their website & she audaciously said "No I don't think we will" and HUNG UP ON ME! Mind you, our boat SANK in the lake, and this is the sympathetic response I get from the staff? Fantastic customer service skills from the store employees, truly. Not to mention the outright lie, as they had earlier advised us that "they didn't have the staff that day & we didn't want to know the prices". OKAY. As we went to the Marina a gentleman named Ryan I believe, was coming up the ramp to drop off guests in the gold cart. After explaining our situation, & advising him that the staff in the store couldn't help us, he graciously offered to help us when he got off at two. "Once I get off, we will get a barge, pontoon, whatever we have to do to get your boat out". It was the best news we had heard all day. We ultimately managed to find a gentleman from Game and Fish who alerted the Sheriff. He was already aware of our situation as officer Dudson had informed him the evening before. You will never guess who the Sheriff called for assistance.... A gentleman named Dave, who (you guessed it) WORKS FOR ROOSEVELT LAKE MARINA & OWNS A BARGE. Dave & his Buddy were absolutely fantastic. The Sheriff's allowed us to ride along & watch the recovery, pumping water out of the boat & floating her back to the Sheriff's ramp. They kindly allowed us to utilize this ramp so that we did not have to deal with all the traffic at the main ramps. Once we had her on the trailer, Dave asked us to meet him up by the restaurant & we could settle payment. Guess where we had to pay? You got it, THE STORE that claimed the BARGE & STAFF DIDN'T EXIST. Once they realized I was the one who had been in earlier, and hung up on, they said "oh you were here this morning weren't you?" Not wanting to cause a scene I provided a simple yes. In my head? I wanted to shout "YES and you clearly LIED to me about not having staff available, nor a BARGE seeing as I am paying THIS STORE FOR THE SERVICES". Physically & mentally exhausted I just wanted to get the hell out of there & get home. I cannot express how awful these women are. Under such a TERRIBLE situation to be treated with such outright hostility is disgusting. They shouldn't be anywhere near customers, nor in the industry. They are a disgrace to this lake & if this is the first impression the owner's of Roosevelt are ok with extending, I wish them the best in continued business. Everyone else we encountered was understanding, helpful, sympathetic & & outright fantastic. Exactly what you expect in the boating community. read more

I'm only giving two stars and not one because they had extremely friendly staff everyone was super nice! But that does not make up for how bad the food was. It was sooooooo expensive and to order the seafood platter and it not be fresh seafood for the price that it was, is a little unsettling. All the seafood tasted like it had freezer burn, the calamari tastes like rubber dipped in the food fryer. The burger my husband ordered didn't sit well with him either. The entire place was swarming with cob webs and bugs on top of bugs.. I've never seen so many bugs it's like they where part of the meal. I wasn't able to see a letter grading anywhere to see if they even passed food safety regulations. I'm sorry but even though this is the only place to eat around for miles your prices need to reflect the quality of the food and how sanitary the restaurant is. read more

Overall pleasant experience in renting two pontoon boats for an afternoon on the lake in memory of my late father. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We especially appreciated Cheryl, Dave, and Becky, who helped us wrap up our visit and drove us right to our vehicles. We look forward to future visits and seeing the upgrades to come. read more

The two old ladies that run the boat rentals and restaurant are SUPER rude. I have never been treated so poorly by a business. We called before coming down to confirm availability, they were rude on the phone telling us we had to be there before 10 am which were there by 938 and then wanted to give us attitude about trying to rent water sports equipment saying we weren't going to have much time. Maybe bc we interrupted her cigarette break is why she was such a B, idk. I would recommend going somewhere else and hauling a boat or jet skis yourself. read more

First, I don't write many reviews, I have been going to the lake for over 20 years now and sometimes stay at the marina RV park. 2 weeks ago, I was there. everything was about Money the price has gone way up for a RV spot. And what do you get for that electricity, No boat launch you haft to pay $25.00 for them to put it in and $25.00 to pull it out. then pay for your spot. No nice beach. Half the trees are dead some of the slabs have large cracks. The weeds are so bad you can't see if there was a snake. I have a small pontoon boat was going to just put it on the shore for the evening. they said No you haft to pay for a boat slip another $100.00 to keep my boat there. Now getting to your boat is a hole another story you could walk in well over 100% degrees or call for pick up the workers all are very nice but need tips. All this left a sour note for me. The only thing good was the nice workers and clean bathroom. Very sad it is now owned by a corporation. Stop giving them your money. read more

My husband and I took a drive out to Roosevelt Lake and stopped in at the local restaurant for food and drink. We ordered FFinch's BBQ Pork sliders with sweet potatoes fries and baked beans. They smoke their meat in house and it's delicious. The baked beans with jalapeno were the best I've ever tasted! The staff (Linda) and Manager, Mark Kieru, were so friendly, welcoming and informative of the area. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! read more

Really don't recommend renting a boat here. The website and employees are extremely misleading regarding what you get. A full day boat rental ends at 2:30pm. The toy package that the website says is a tube, wakeboard, kneeboard and water skis is only 1 tube that is very small. A large adult will have a hard time fitting on it. During our full day rental on Saturday we called the store to see if there was anything we could do to keep the boat later than 2:30, maybe if you can pay per hour or something like that. The employees were extremely rude and told us if we weren't back by 2:30 they would call the sheriff on us. Again, I really do not recommend this place for boat rentals. read more

This review concerns the Marina STORE and dock area: If you absolutely HAVE to go here, then I suppose it is an alright place to get something you ABSOLUTELY need, or have forgotten to pick up elsewhere. The selection of items is very limited, and prices are INSANE on everything, including food, ice, etc. The docks and public facilities here are not the greatest - Their rental boats are very weathered - The outdoor "bar area" is like a ghost town, even on the weekends. The staff here is "okay" - Not the friendliest or most knowledgeable, I'm afraid. Like I said, if you ABSOLUTELY need something like ice, it is "okay", otherwise pick up your provisions/supplies/beer/soda in Miami, Claypool, or Globe. Happy Boating! read more

Went to spend the day but there really isn't much to do in Nov. It is pretty but not as scenic as other lakes. The boat rentals are ridiculously high. There they sat, pontoon boats and others ready to rent on a glorious Sunday but why would someone pay 400 bucks to rent beat up boats? They only do full day rentals so there were no cheaper alternatives. Rather than have them sit unused, why not rent for half day or a few hours here and there? The bar on the dock was tempting to hang out and enjoy but not with the smokers gathering. What better way to enjoy the great outdoors than feeling like your in a smoky casino? The place got two stars because we appreciated the guy in the golf cart who had been working there for 1/2 hour Total/ever) shuttling us to the parking lot. read more

We stayed at the RV park here for the past couple of days. I can't say enough about how nice the staff is. As we were checking out I noticed our back tire was flat and called good Sam and local shops with no help. One of the guys that works here, Eric, was so kind to volunteer to help and fixed it in 30 minutes after our 5 hour wait for Good Sam. The scenery is beautiful And the lake is so serene! We were visiting from California and could barely handle the heat so we thought we'd find a lake with an an available boat rental service at the marina. We were hesitant because of the bad reviews but place has great customer service! All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Very easy and convenient to rent a pontoon. They have a golf cart attendant that takes you to the dock which is great because it would have been a long walk. Best of all the lake was beautiful. read more

I currently rent a boat slip at Roosevelt Lake Marina. We recently had trouble with our outboard motor. I inquired at the Marina Store about the marina's Marine Services and found out that there are none. . .you have got to be kidding. There must be 200 or more boats in the arena and they don't have any marine services. Never have I ever been to a marina of this size and not found marine services. When I asked the people who work in the Marina Store why there were no marine services they replied "We don't want the headache." WHAT?! When we inquired about marine services in the area, they really didn't have a clue. WHAT?! This marina is not in that good of shape and the staff is mostly rude and self serving. I cannot believe the Forest Service has not done something about the service and facilities there. I am VERY disappointed in the Forest Service for allowing this to continue. I usually like to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe the staff is having a bad day so I do not usually complain or write negative review, but after experiencing their continuous negative attitudes, it's time to speak up. read more

We were anticipating a nice experience - brand new full hookup area! What a disaster of organization. We had 3 groups of us, reserved the spots, showed up on Friday night - NO ONE IN THE RV STORE. Sites were locked up, the bar workers were clueless, we had no idea if we even had spots! We finally caught up with a "property watcher" from the marina side - he called the owner and was able to unlock the sites for us. The next day - the women in the RV store were rather rude, disorganized and looked like hangover biker chicks. The second night, the guy in the kiosk lugged a case of beer to the kiosk with him. The customer service was a big fat ZERO. They have a huge lesson to learn in delivering a positive customer experience, for the price - it should have been amazing and sadly - we will not go back. read more

Easy to launch your boat at the marina with 4 sections and lots of parking. Also I saw bathrooms close by and portal-potties as well. There is a marina store but not much to choose from as far as sunscreen or other necessities. They mostly carry snacks and drinks and they do have ice. I do not recommend this place for camping!! Extremely overpriced!! Almost double than what you would pay with a Tonto pass. No beach access. Only reason why we're here is because Bremuda Flats is closed due to the high lake level. We will never be back here once it opens back up. read more

We rented the "Bo-tel" Floating hotel, little pricey at $350.00/night could use some TLC, BUT that said had a great time, AC was good. The bedroom with bunk beds was too hot to sleep in. Grandson had a blast jumping off the boat. we went In August, 102-104 degrees. Lake completely empty. Great to boating, and fishing. Restaurant good food and great service, everyone friendly. Ribs, and Prime Rib sandwich, Cesar Salad, (Smoke on premises) Amazing view of AZ Sunset over Lake. You can walk to restaurant or they provide a shuttle service (Golf Cart) to shuttle you to store or restaurant. Rented a patoon for me it was to loud couldn't talk to others, never again. While the place is clean and the people are nice. There is still much to be desired. They claim to have a "private beach" but it's really just a leveled dirt parking lot on the water. Most of the area had vegetation blocking the water so you can't even enter the water from the area other than the boat launch. I was also disappointed in the fact that there are no trails tied to the Marina. So If you don't have a boat, there's just not much to do. read more

We had breakfast at the restaurant. The breakfast burrito with home fries was excellent and big enough to split. Very reasonable priced. We ate pizza here the night before. The bbq chicken pizza was excellent. There are some pricy things on the menu and the drinks are pricy. I think the prices should be lowered on drinks and the breakfast menu expanded as it is small. There is outdoor seating. Right now you have to enter from the back side. The service is always good. If you are passing through the area it's one of the best restaurants you can stop at. read more

Here is their description "Our 22' Pontoon accommodates 12 people! With a 115HP, this boat will take you anywhere on the lake. Enjoy the lounging area and couple it with a watertoy package for a fun day at the lake." We rented this boat and I'm sorry I did! It was dented to hell and falling apart. There is very sharp exposed corners where the rubber is falling off of the boat. There were loose screws 2" or longer sticking out everywhere. The canopy is falling apart and not stable, the seats are rotted to hell. It has no power. We purchase the water toy package and after paying for it they told us that the boat would only be capable of pulling a small child not any adults but that was after it was paid for. The rental is not a full day it is 6 hours. Which we didn't get told until after payment was received. We were told on the phone that it was form 8 to 5 when they closed. The customer service was just horrible. The lady that ran the rental got angry and raised her voice at us after we pointed out the flaws on the boat during the inspection. We were just trying to cover our butts so we would get our deposit back. The fact that they didn't tell us it was from 8am until 2pm until after it was paid for bothered me pretty bad I hope you take our word for it and find another rental. read more

At first when I walked in to check in to my summer slip rental, I was a little put ff. one lady on the phone and another I'm not sure what she was doing, but apparently ending a shift. Nether acknowledged my existence. Then the lady on the phone ended her call, and it still didn't quite get better. Every question we asked seemed to be either hard to comprehend or . But she recovered very quickly. We had keys and a very kind gentleman arrived to,show us to our slip. From there it has been uphill and continuing to climb. For members there are private bathrooms with showers, grills, microwaves, toasters and sinks. discounts on gas, food and other supplies. Best perk? Shuttles up and down the 1/4 mile hike from car to boat with stuff. Thinking when it's triple digits, this be worth it's weight in gold. So far all other members we've met behave been awesome people. Went to camp out in our self contained camper van just for saturday night. As you drive down to the camping spots,The pay booth is unattended with no signage, so you need to turn around and go back to the convenience store to pay and obtain your camping pass that you place in your window. The cost for plugins is a little pricey at $48.00 a night, however without the plugins it's only $8.00. Lots of available spaces with a nice view of the lake. There is a small building with restrooms, however, the toilets were not working and were clogged and overflowing. The convenience store at the entrance only carries bare essentials, mostly chips, candy and soda. The restaurant is a little pricey at $5.00 for a bowl of cereal. For dinner ordered the $12.00 angus burger with onion rings. The burger was delicious and must have had 3/4 pound of meat. Onions rings were also delicious. Service was friendly and good. The restroom at the restaurant was neat and clean. With the exception of the toilet issue, it was an enjoyable night. Quiet and peaceful. Most likely would return again. read more

I would give it zero stars if I could. Firstly, all day rental is really half day so know that going in. Boats are hazardous so do not bring kids on them. I'm typing this from the ER, while my daughter is getting stitches and a tetanus shot from cutting her foot on one of the many unmarked, uncovered sharp edges. Only good news is I'm an attorney and they are going to regret their poorly run, dangerous business. I am livid and will exhaust all resources against them. read more

We decided to rent a boat for our family to celebrate my birthday and it was disappointing! We paid $405 for a full day and when we got there, the boat was so gross and run down. The seats were all mismatched and worn out and one seat hinge was broken and kept falling when you sat on it. The seats had holes and dirt all over them and also a dirt stained floor. The gate to dive off the back was wobbly and hard to open and shut and the ladder was so hard to use because it was so narrow. We paid for a full day and only got the boat from 8 am to 2:15 because we had to gas it back up to return it by 2:30. All of the other places I called give you until 5 pm for a full day. We also purchased the "toy "package" for $50 extra and it was a child size tube that most of the adults could barely fit into comfortably. I will never rent a boat here again, not worth the money at all. The only good part was the nice man that shuttled us from our car to the boat in a golf cart with all our stuff and then back again afterwards. read more

The staff is UNresponsive to members' needs. They just wrote in a recent newsletter that members can't even speak loud enough to be heard outside their boats or they can be disciplined. (Really?) In the same newsletter they boasted that they planned on breaking their own rules all weekend long with LOUD bands, LOUD DJs and LOUD activities. But if you members do what we do or attempt to have fun, you will be kicked out or fined. Something smells fishy at the lake. read more
