The food was good and the ambience is good, but they weren't really good at refilling our drinks

On a road trip with my son from AZ to WA and stopped in Clarkston on night 3. We wanted to eat somewhere with a good view and found Rooster's Waterfront Restaurant on Yelp. We got right in and asked to be seated on the patio as the sun would be going down over the next hour. The patio is right up on the Snake River offering a great view for our dinner! Walking through the interior was also quite the visual feast...a handful of large rooms and a large bar with a bunch of motley decorations everywhere. The nicest looking room was a rotunda in the back but nobody was sitting in there...not sure if it's for private events only. The menu had a lot of choices...which in my years of dining usually means they offer quantity over quality. And that came to fruition as we received and ate our meals. I ordered the Hazel's Famous Fried Shrimp and my son got the Cod N Chips. These were the smallest shrimp I've ever seen in the restaurant...the broccoli dwarfed it! The breading was also awful as it was soggy and falling off the shrimp. If these are famous, I'd hate to see the shrimp that didn't get the part. My son said his cod was 'alright' but said the tartar sauce was the worst tartar sauce he's ever had. It looked like curdled 2% milk. The table we sat at on the patio was tiny and barely held the two dinner plates. The chairs were also cheap metal and my back and bottom were sore after an hour. At least our server was friendly...and when she asked 'how was your meal' when picking up our dishes, we said it wasn't great and she replied 'yeah...' and walked back inside. That was actually a pretty funny way to end the meal. read more

After reading the reviews, I was skeptical about dining here for lunch. Well..., I would highly recommend this restaurant. Food was very good. Service not just ours, but all the servers I observed, were very friendly and gave excellent service. We dined on the patio overlooking the river, and it couldn't have been a nicer afternoon, and dining experience. read more

Food was good and the service was great. Had the Lumber Jack burger. Blueberry BBQ was different but good. The one thing though that is bothersome is the aquariums are filthy. Eating and the seeing this tank dirty doesn't put a person at ease wondering if other places in the restaurant are just as dirty. read more

We are out of town for the World Series and decided to eat here for dinner. Overall, the service was very good! Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. We had a group of five, and everyone agreed their meal was dry and lacking flavor. They were also out of several menu items, though I believe that was likely due to the large number of athletes dining there. That being said, the waterfront location is beautiful and offers an amazing view. read more

We came here after some hiking in the area and it was a solid burger joint. There were a lot of different, bombastic signs around - the decor is a bit hit or miss. Some signs were funny and others were a bit ridiculous, but contributed to the interesting vibe of the place. There's an outdoor area by the river that has little domes. The domes are very cute, but lack a lot of air circulation so we got a bit hot (even though it was a bit chilly outside). The burgers themselves were good and solid: I ordered the Lumber Snack and it came with asparagus, which I've never had in a burger before. The asparagus wasn't really noticeable in it though since the burger packed so much. I've never had blueberry bbq sauce on a burger and that was very good/interesting - if you're down to try new foods, it is a great thing to order. I got a side of mac & cheese and it was very forgettable. I wouldn't recommend this side dish - it tasted like plain mac and cheese you could make yourself at home. A friend ordered the fries and they were good. We also ordered the root beers and I'd strong recommend: those were excellent. read more

I used to love eating at Rooster's but every time I go, the prices get higher and the food quality is worse. We ordered kabooms as an appetizer. And they are 15 dollars for some cheese in a wrap. They were empty today. Hardly any filling and some had none at all. So I wasted 15 dollars on that. I ordered their version of a Cuban sandwich. It would have been good but it was covered on the outside in mustard because they completely destroyed the bread, so it was in pieces when it came to me. Any real chef or even line cool could see it looked horrible. The service was adequate but not friendly just done and timely. I think this might be the straw that broke the camels back. It used to be so much better. read more

According to Yelp, all the best restaurants in the Lewiston area - at least that are open Labor Day weekend - are in Clarkston, and I wound up at this one. A little hard to find - Port Way is not the same street as Port Drive - it was as advertised right on the waterfront, with a nautical theme to the decorations and dramatic views of the cliffs going down into the Snake River. Really friendly and courteous service, and I had the clam chowder - quite excellent - and a surf and turf plate, with an OK steak cooked properly to order, but it was the dry fried shrimp that accompanied it that was really interesting and outstanding. We each ordered tacos, as it was taco Tuesday! I can't begin to tell you how flavorful they were. Val had shrimp and there were at least 5 shrimps per taco, with cabbage and a vinaigrette dressing. I had the pulled pork, scrumptious and the sauce, yum! These were huge, we didn't need anything else, but just had to share a lava cake. Over the top, mmmmm! Every thing in this place was cool, lots of aquarium's and old fishing equipment! Great decor. They also have a covered deck overlooking the river, too hot to sit out side that day. read more

The food is excellent. I had the 6oz sirloin and baked potato. Both were done to perfection. I like my potato hot and they made sure that it was. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. We are both in the dining room and in the lounge. Both offered great ambiance, decorated very cute and beautiful river views. We thoroughly enjoyed eating there. Nice place inside, the atmosphere was cozy. Only been here once, my food was ok not the best I've had, small portions for what you pay for. My drink was good, people were friendly. We were staying overnight nearby and needed some dinner. The lady at the River Chicks Antique store highly recommend this place. Looking at the menu you would think there's no way they could do all that food good since there is such a variety. But let me tell you the food was amazing and we all enjoyed our food. I had the ranch wrap and added buffalo sauce, my aunt had the beef tacos since it was taco Tuesday and my my mom had the cod and chips and we were all blown away by how good it was. I highly recommend going here for the amazing food, great views and ambiance and great service. read more

Terrible food, poor and slow service, and the bar was too warm on an almost 100° day. The tables were not wiped down and the restrooms were not clean. We ordered the deep fried Stuffed Tater Tots and they were burnt and tasted burnt. Our server said "well they look kind of dark". The Old Fashioned was below par, too sweet and just not a good. No time or skill was used to make it. My beer was 50% flat and the next tap beer was the same. "We are having problems with the CO2" was the excuse. The clam chowder was runny and the cans of minced clams made it impossible to taste any clams or even find them in this monstrosity. We did not order dinners since we couldn't get through the appetizers. Roosters was good at one time, but NOT now. There are many choices and Roosters should not be on that list. I'm gonna bump this review up to five stars after being there a few more times I will have to say that the food is absolutely wonderful. I don't know who is back there cooking but you guys are doing an excellent job! The service is really good and the ambience well... It's really really cool in there. You just have to go in there and see and try for yourself. There's a lot to see it's like being in a museum on the water. I recommend getting , the nachos appetizer before your meal. This restaurant is like the Cheesecake Factory of Clarkston - it's got a broad menu with something everyone will like and everything is reasonably well prepared. I ate food from here twice when I was in Clarkston last week. One time I got a takeout burger and I was very impressed by the packaging - separating the condiments from the burger and putting the fries so they don't steam up. The next time I ate in - ribs - well prepared and everything came fast. The steamed vegetables coming with the ribs are kind of an afterthought - but I'm guessing if you are here you are not here for the vegetables. Service is a bunch of friendly younger people and is generally very prompt. Drinks from the menu remind me of something I would have liked when I was a younger person or I would like sitting by a bar at a pool - not necessarily complex. Roosters has great ambiance and food. It is eclectic and we see new things up on the walls everytime we go there. Roosters serves local food including salmon. My favorite menu item are fried oysters served Fridays only. Plenty of variety of craft beers and fancy mixed drinks. When the weather allows, sit out on the deck overlooking the river! Service may be a bit slower outside on the deck but its well worth the wait. read more

The environment is super cool, the hosts said we would wait 15-20 minutes for 2 at a booth, and we waited exactly 15 minutes. They were amazing. Our waitress was absolutely terrible. We saw her a total of 3 times during our visit tonight, once to take our orders, once to bring us our food, and once for the check. She never asked if we wanted straws, hope everything was tasting, or if we needed anything. I ordered the cod and chips with comes with the fish, fries, and coleslaw. The fish was frozen in the middle and came with no coleslaw. I had to go to the front to get a manager to help me fix it because our server was nowhere to be found for 10 minutes. I had to wait an additional 10 minutes for my remake to be brought out by a totally different server, he was really nice. So was the manager who offered to fix my frozen fish. Our server didn't even have too many tables, maybe 4 that were all 2-3 tops. There is no excuse for us being ignored. Even though my fish was frozen in the middle, and I had to walk up to the front to inform inform another employee because our server was gone, send it back, and wait 10 minutes for a new plate, I was not offered a discount of any manner. When I politely asked for one, I got $2 off my $50 bill. Highly highly recommend the appetizer crab dip, it was fully cooked. read more

PAID $50.!! Just for reservation of an IGLOO, this was granted to be a very special evening. It was my mother in law's birthday, I never got to propose to my wife so I had planned on doing so there. I had bought flowers and candy the day before. I called to let them know when we were coming, they said do you want us to lay out the flowers and candy and I said yes. Poor judgement.!! Flowers were still wrapped in the plastics with prices showing..!! Candies were still sealed. There was not a single bit of creativity. The patio where the igloos were was not treated for ice or snow. Literally had a sign saying slippery outside of them. All that after being told I could count on them to make the evening special. Drinks came out quickly as well as the food. Food was 5-10. I thought for sure they would have done a better job considering the time and effort I had put into this.
