The upstairs has the kitchen and dining area. But there's also the downstairs, basement dining and bar which practically lends to a speakeasy vibe. Each time I've visited I've opted for the bar, as I'm usually dining solo. The menu is small, but the food is done so well. I also look at the specials. One time they offered an Ivory King Salmon, I've never heard of it before and looked it up. Apparently it's very rare and makes up on 5% of King Salmon species. Super glad I ordered it, it's buttery, mild flavor reminded me of black cod. But their other menu items are nothing to ignore. I've had the roasted marinated lamb, and they also offer $15 dollar pasta Wednesdays. Recently I had the Linguine with meatballs, it tasted homemade - like the Nonna's were in the kitchen! IF I have space for dessert, I usually opt for the gallette or cheesecake, both are worthy options to end a satisfying meal. Perfectly done with a side of kale and nice size croutons, crunchy and buttery. Ordered the dip appetizer and the pita is soft as a vessel to try 3 different dips - one is garlicky with breadcrumbs (it's more addicting than you think), feta with a roasted pepper and tzakiti. My favorite item on their appetizer menu is the cheese plate. I don't like crackers so I've started ordering it with some extra apple slices instead of the crackers. The goat cheese panna cotta itself is delicious but the best part is that the seasonal sides are amazing and change very frequently. It's a positive example of a dish never being exactly the same. I've always had great service at the bar. The only complaint I've heard was from a grad student we know who ordered multiple items and didn't realize they forgot his entree until everyone at the table was almost done eating. Thankfully the group had plenty to talk about so they didn't mind it being a long dinner. Finally... the drinks. The only regret I've had was ordering a beer when they have such a fantastic cocktail menu. I am a fan of their non alcoholic cocktails currently but I do enjoy occasionally ordering from the main menu.

Overall, it was a great spot for a quick breakfast before work. What?! For $13 that's the salad you receive? Sorry but who in their right mind thinks that's okay. For the main course I decided to try their seafood special, the stuffed trout. Sounds delicious, but the waitress never told me it was a WHOLE trout. I don't mind whole fish but I wasn't expecting it because it was not advertised as whole or mentioned to be whole! It had so. Many. Bones. Which of course because it's whole but if I knew I would have gotten something else! The funny thing is, the table next to us ordered the same thing after and our waitress told him it was whole, asked if he wanted a sharp knife, etc. I was NEVER offered those things once. Not only... but it was very bland. I was so disappointed in the waitress not mentioning details and the dish itself. Especially for $39 I expected way more. Also, we ordered the grilled meatloaf. We have ordered this dish handfuls of times and it's been delicious with the mashed potatoes and carrots. But they changed the recipe completely! Why fix something not broken? The meatloaf has less flavor, it's not as crispy, it's a whole different shape too. The mashed potatoes aren't even mashed potatoes anymore, it's a potato puck of some sort. I don't understand why this recipe was changed. This was the one thing that kept us returning, that and the creme brûlée. The crème brûlée was still delicious as usual but honestly besides the dessert I would not get any of these dishes again. And with today's experience I'm not sure if I'd return.
