I had come and ordered takeout from here a few times... and tonight's experience was unlike any other. It was my first time doing karaoke and I honestly don't know that I would do it again. We booked a karaoke room for an hour for 6 people on a Thursday evening, and while the singing was fun, the service was below subpar. When we arrived, we did not have a full menu available to us in the room, so it took a few mins to get our order in. Our server kept close tabs of every minute in karaoke, but not the food. It took over 60 minutes to get our wings! Apparently there was some sort of mix up in the kitchen & while we were understanding, what threw us for a loop was that even though our wings were DELAYED, our server was hesitant to offer complimentary time in our karaoke room while we waited. Right at the 60-minute mark, he was quick to offer two options - our wings to go or a table in the dining room. In the end, we had to negotiate an extra hour in the karaoke room since our food took SO long to come out. When paying the check, we were surprised to see a charge for food we never ever received! I'm super disappointed that they tried to take advantage of us, when we were very understanding of their mix up. In my opinion, servers could use a lesson or two in customer service. Visited this spot for the first time and frankly it's a decent location, as NJ doesn't have a lot of Korean Fried Chicken spots. I dared to try the cauliflower wings (half & half), which actually wasn't bad. Both flavors was good, although I personally like the spicy better (just make sure you can handle it, although it won't be too bad if you're used to spicy food). Garlic fried rice was okay, but not the best. Also seems like they don't give you a side of pickled radish at this point, but maybe that's because we're in Jersey. Also the kimchi fries weren't what I expected. What the fries were crispy and tasty, they just give you a tiny cup of kimchi cheese sauce. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I expected the fries to be way more loaded. I ordered for pickup and it did take a lot longer than expected. I also felt sorry for the hostess, who was running around trying to help. There also was 5 people just standing around chatting, but the music was just a tad too loud to hear anyone trying to get their attention. We have been coming to Roosterspin for years now - probably our favorite spot in Westfield. We all shared the honey butter rice balls, bibimbap, japchae, and regular size of the soy garlic wings. We have been coming here for a while and always get the honey butter rice balls without fail. The crunch on the outside and chewy texture on the inside is perfect and we love the sweet taste. I would pass on the bibimbap next time, it was kind of bland and the crispy rice was burnt instead of golden. The japchae was the star of the meal. So much flavor, perfect cook of the noodles, and thin beef. If I wasn't sharing dishes, I would get this all for myself. Lastly, we got the regular size of soy garlic chicken, which was 12 pieces because they were out of the big drumsticks. The crunch was great with perfectly cooked chicken on the inside. I don't like that they charge extra for sauce but honestly this meal was such a bargain. A meal for 4 under $100 at a nice restaurant is rare. I like the spicy original chicken wings. I thought they were tasty with a little kick. The non spicy ones didn't do anything for me but that's just a personal preference seeing as how I like spicy food. The chicken had a nice crisp to it which was nice. The other two dishes we ordered were just mediocre. Needed more spice and flavor. It was a bit on the bland side. The service was friendly and attentive the first half of the meal by the time the second half came our serve was no where to be found. We were the only table at the restaurant at this time and our server was busy chatting with a customer who came in either to sit at the "bar" area or was waiting for take out. We went to Westfield the other day to walk around and window shop but then decided to grab a cold drink or cocktail because it was so hot outside and I happened to find this place on Yelp. I loved the whole vibe of this place upon entering and the bartender/server was very soft spoken and friendly. We sat down at a table and ordered a half bottle of chilled Sauvignon Blanc and it tasted splendid and was perfect for cooling off from the high temperatures outside. Love the vibes here. Came at an 4pm which is an odd hour to eat so we got the whole place to ourselves. We tried the bulgogi sliders. I thought this was well done but could be more juicy. The flavor was there and pairs well with the red pickled onion. 4/5 The kimchi fries I recommend you pass. Actually pass if you're expecting actual kimchi on the kimchi fries like other places. This was just regular seasoned fries and sauce on the side. But if you're expecting just regular fries this is good. 3/5 Double fried chicken- like any other Korean fried chicken but boy were those drumstick massive. It came pipping hot so it was perfect. I did half and half. Normally I like the original soy more but I think the spicy was a tad better here than their original. 4/5 Lastly had the spicy Tuna roll. Gotta love the sauce on top. This is a fun little place and a fun part of town. We tried several things, including the chicken wings the fries with kimchi one of the sushi rolls and some rice noodle dish. All of it was very good. The French fries with kimchi sauce were actually just french fries with a little bowl of kimchi type sauce. A relatively unique menu and atmosphere that's definitely a "vibe", as the kids say, make Roosterspin stand out from others you may consider for a trendy meal. I had the double cooked fried chicken (drumstick only option) and...it was perfect. Really some of the best (if non-traditional) fried chicken I've ever had (I'm 41 y/o to give you an idea). I opted for the non-spicy version. The outside was crispy and the meat was flawlessly cooked, juicy without any pink. The sauce was present but far from overwhelming, more like a glaze, with subtle, complex flavor the sophisticated palate will appreciate while remaining accessible to the crowd. Service was good but the place was empty when we went so how it's like during rush I wouldn't know. The place was well staffed though. Prices brought fair to good value for what's offered depending on what you order. If you eschew animals or are plant-only then beware there's a dearth of options for you. There's a few but you'll order salad and scallion cake and you'll like it. Even if they want to be meat-forward it would be nice to warn prospective diners of the limited choices. The only real negative was the lack of a liquor license. Beer/wine were served (the Sangria pitcher was fantastic). Super solid Korean food option in the area. It's my go to whenever I am craving dolsot Bibimbap and Korean fried chicken. I've been here four times and have order those dishes each time :). Definitely be forewarned that the spicy fried chicken is very very spicy, definitely not for the faint of heart. Meanwhile, the dolsot Bibimbap is the best you will get in this area, so delicious!! Flavorful food was the only saving grace yet everyone's entree came out at various times and some appetizers came out with entrees one person didn't get entree until everyone was finished eating . Came here on a weekday for lunch and had the restaurant to ourselves. The Sliders 10/10: delicious! Beef was high quality and fresh. The pickled onions gave it a nice layer of flavor Steak Fries 9/10: so good, so hot and very very thick! Dynamite shrimp 7/10: had a nice kick and texture to it but could have used a little more sauce on it. Chicken sandwich 5/10: wasn't a fan of the sandwich as much. The only reason this place gets two stars is because our waitress, despite her super off putting 2 inch nails that threatened to contaminate our food with god knows whats underneath them, was incredibly kind. Chicken double fried has an awesome texture but the flavor is not there. It is bland on the inside so we asked for extra sauce to which we were offered ketchup, spicy mayo, or bacon something or another for a dollar. The mango salad is deliciously and freshly made, taste great. The kimchi fries is out of this world! This place was kinda hard to find initially, being in the train station parking lot at the end of a row of buildings. The fried chicken is Perfect. Large order came with big pieces and crunchy skin. We ordered half sweat half spicy which was smart in hindsight since the spicy ones were really hot. The ramen was just alright. The pork strips made it edible, but it overall kinda tasted too fishy for me. Maybe due to the fish cakes. One thing I wish I knew prior to arriving was that alcohol was only byob. They have mocktails to order, but being virgin drinks they seem overpriced being charged as normal cocktails. Amazing Korean fusion restaurant in New Jersey! Stop by for fried chicken or twists on Korean classics. My friends and I started with the Kimchi Fries, then the Mango Salad, and lastly the Chicken and Waffle. Everything was very freshly made and crispy! The fries were well-seasoned and the kimchi sauce was nicely tart and salty. The mango salad was well balanced with many different textures, though we wished the mango was a bit more ripened/soft. Finally, the chicken was deliciously crispy and not super oily! However, the rice waffle wasn't my favorite texture, a bit too chewy and sweet for me.
