I started off with crispy pork buns and the crab roll, both were great. The roll was especially great because of its presentation with the flame. For my entree I had the Double Fried Chicken and the Kimchi rice. Aside from the amazing food our server was attentive even though the restaurant was completely full. Came here for a late dinner and the place was pretty much packed. We waited for around 20min. It has a very relaxed atmosphere but the music is extremely loud. I literally have to shout on the top of my lungs to talk to the person next to me. After like 10min, we were finally given water. The food came pretty quickly. We got the Roosterspin fries and tuna tataki. The fries were hot and crunchy. Definitely recommend. The tuna tataki weren't as good and mediocre at best. Wouldn't recommend spending $15 for it. My friends got kimchi fried rice and udon. The udon looked pretty small but it's only $10 so I guess you can't expect much. The kimchi fried rice actually came in a big portion. For myself, I got the bibimbap. Was it good? Yea! But was it worth $17 or something? Nope. The portion is small and does not compare to other bibimbap I had before. I also got a lychee calpico. The birds here are unlike any KFC I've had before. The skin is incredibly light, yet super crispy and crunchy thanks to the double dip fryer action. As for the meat... oh yeaaah, it's as juicy and tender as they advertise it to be. If you can kick it like me, go all out and get the whole thang in spicy soy garlic - an excellent balance of both flavor and spice. You just can't beat that heat. Perfectly executed KFC. There, I said it. The remainder of the menu offers Korean specialties in tapas style, which is great for sharing with friends or family. We opted for the steamed pork buns as it was recommended by our server. They were finger-licking good. Albeit a little on the pricey side for a small plate, but the fatty pork was perfectly paired with pickled cucumber, arugula, and some type of delicious, zingy, sauce. We gobbled those bad boys up. It's also good to note that this is a BYOB establishment but there's wine available for purchase. My boyfriend and I were in town and were looking for a place to walk to for lunch when we came across this restaurant. It was easy to find as it was right next to the train station in Westfield. We were greeted right away and seated within the next few minutes. We walked in without a reservation on a Sunday afternoon. There wasn't an overwhelming amount of people where we had to wait long to be seated but it wasn't dead either. Since there were only 2 of us, we were seated right next to the hallway that led to the bathrooms (I assume since neither of us visited their bathroom). The menu was easy to follow. Since this was a "tapas" style restaurant, everything is made in small portions for everyone to share. It did take longer than expected to be greeted by our server considering the restaurant wasn't super busy but our server was very friendly. I did have a hard time hearing her over the music as she presented what people usually order when visiting this restaurant for the first time. They have fresh iced teas and an interesting cocktail menu (though we only had iced tea and water). Their signature is their double-fried chicken but we just ordered a few dishes and appetizers. Though their grilled edamame did taste good and wasn't over salted, I personally wasn't crazy for the fact that they were grilled because the char on the pods made it messy to eat. Their kimchi fries were tasty though and not overly greasy. I would've like the dipping sauce to be a little spicier, given the name kimchi. Because I'm allergic to beef and pork, I didn't have too many options other than chicken but I ordered their garlic fried rice while my boyfriend ordered their kimchi burger sliders. This place fell a little short. If I had to sum my experience up in only one word here it would be, "meh". The food was meh. The service was meh and the atmosphere was meh. None of it however was worth paying $25! The Spin Pajean was ok but it wasn't worth $15. Also, The Roosterspin fries were certainly not worth $9. They were literally just fries with 3 different dipping sauces. Basically the food failed to hit the mark in comparison to the prices. Last night, my wife and I, and another couple went to dinner at Roosterspin in Westfield. We went there because my wife had previously been there with friends and had a great experience. We arrived at the restaurant at 9pm and ordered some appetizers by 915pm. I asked the waiter what time the kitchen closed and he specifically told me 1030pm. At 930ish, our apps were served. Once we were done with the apps, we were discussing dinner options, at which point the waiter came to the table to only inform us that the kitchen had already closed and we could only order chicken wings and fries at that point. There was no advance notice that the original time for the kitchen closing had changed, nor any explanation as to why that suddenly changed. I asked to speak with the manager. 5 minutes later Rapheal (sp??) the manager came to the table with his first words being "what's the problem". Over the course of the discussion with Rapheal, he indicated the kitchen was closed, which he had no control over since the chef makes this decision, and that our waiter gave us many opportunities to order dinner and we missed on the chance. He did not offer any apology or any solution, nor was he sympathetic to the problem. Raphael made it seem like it was our fault that we did not order dinner on time, even though the waiter clearly told us earlier in the night that the kitchen closes at 1030 (which the waiter confirmed that he had misinformed us). This manager's actions completely changed our opinion of this restaurant. This was a complete management fail (actually very hard for us to believe Raphael is a manager bc he did not exhibit any customer relations skills), and this problem overshadowed any of the great food the restaurant actually serves. Overall the low rating for this restaurant is 100% based on the managers actions. As a business professional, I am giving the restaurant owner (Mihae Cho) this feedback in hopes that she will appreciate it and act on it for the better of the restaurant, and as I would if someone in my business gave me similar feedback. read more

Very very loud and busy. Food: kimchi fries - SO MANY FRIES. The fries are deliciously seasoned, and the kimchi cheese was good, however not enough kimchi flavor in my opinion, as it tasted more like sweet queso. The Korean seafood pancake was yummy, filled with seafood and veggies and had a crunchy outer casing with a soft center. The fried chicken is delicious, crispy, flavorful, and surprisingly not oily and won't leave you feeling like you swallowed grease. I loveeee their fried chicken. It's def up there on the list of best Korean fried chicken (possibly tied #1 with turntable. Again, are these places owned by the same person?) All I can say is WOW! There isn't anything I wouldn't recommend. We had the cheese curds and fries for appetizer. Delicious! For dinner the fried chicken (mixed but preferred the non spicy the best) and the Ramen tacos (liked beef over the shrimp). Both dishes were fantastic! We both got the mocchi for dessert. It gives off a very modern/hip vibe and that you're going to be getting something NYC quality (the interior really makes you feel like you're not in Westfield anymore). However, I wasn't blown away. I got bulgogi steamed fold over buns which were pretty darn tasty. But then I got the miso ramen and it was only okay. I know the ramen isn't what they're known for (which seems to be the Korean fried chicken), but it still shouldn't be as bland as it was. The pork and the egg were great, but it was just the broth. Very cool first impressions with low Edison lighting, records lining the walls, and great music playing. The restaurant raves about the fried chicken but none of us were in the mood. Place is sort of BYOB meaning you can bring your own or buy bottles at the table, from a local liquor store that has a partnership w/Roosterspin. We split some small plates and they were really flavorful, delicious, and different. We tried the tempura cheese curds for $12, fries for $9 which came with 3 great dipping sauces, steamed soft shell crab buns for $12 for 3, mango salad for $11, and steamed pork dumplings for $13. The soft shell buns to me were the standout - crispy flavorful goodness. Each dish was unique and we loved all of them. Service was good t/o and they were happy to let us linger until closing time as we finished our wine. They have alot of different options from mains to small plates to wings so I think you could come here a bunch and have some different types of meals. My first experience with Korean anything and holy-freaking-moly, the "KFC" wings are mind blowing. They take some time to make, but totally worth the wait. I got half regular and the other half spicy. While the spicy was not too spicy, I definitely like the flavor of the regular wings better, but they were both delicious. I could have missed Rooster spin in the train station parking lot, but I'm glad Yelp alerted me to this spot! We went with our server's recommendation for the Tuna Tataki appetizer and it was delicious, probably my favorite thing we had. We also had the mandoo dumplings, which were good, but nothing spectacular, especially compared with the Tuna. Ordering appetizers is a good idea if you order the wings and you're hungry, because they do take awhile. The wings were really good! Very fresh and the sauce is a little sweet, so it's unlike the wings I've had in most places. The restaurant does get really loud. It was loud on an empty weeknight when there was a family with small children, and it was loud on a crowded weekend night, so I think the acoustics aren't great. The smaller room is a bit small - we underestimated how small it would be! Definitely fit for probably a max of 4-5 people. There weren't any tambourines which was a bit disappointing because it's not Karoake without tambourines! The wait staff were really nice and accommodating too. The only complaint was the room was really hot, but if you open the doors, you can hear the other Karoake room over your own so it's either you sweat to death in the room with the door closed or have the doors open but have to listen to the other party singing over yours. The food was decent - a bit over priced for the quality of the food. I've definitely had better Korean chicken at other places. Met up with old friends for dinner. Great recommendation from a family member! Almost everything about this place is awesome. We were a bit early for our reservation but was seated. Waitress was friendly and professional. The chicken takes a long time to prepare and make so order it asap w/ the sangria. Ordered the buns, mango salad, curds and fries. The salad was especially well made. Everything else was yummy. Spicy wings are really hot. We enjoyed our time. Ordered a second sangria and talked well into the night.
