While I understand some have had a good experience with Root Masters based on reviews written here, we did not have the same experience. We had them come out yesterday (8/4/2025) to snake and unclog the main sanitary cleanout from the house to the city sewer. In addition, I also had them unclog our master bath sinks. Once the team arrived, they got right to work. One guy focused on the cleanout in the basement, while the other went to work on the sink upstairs. In the meantime, I was at work in another part of the upstairs. Upon completion, we met outside for the invoice and payment. When I went to the basement, that is when I realized the disaster they left us with. By the time I went back outside to catch them, the team had already left. A complete mess is an understatement-- this team left puddles of raw sewage water all over the basement floor, which they then tracked throughout the basement, up the stairs, throughout the house, and into the garage. Not to mention, the snaking tool they used for the cleanout splattered raw sewage all over basement walls, against furniture, clothing, appliances, baby toys/car-seats. You name it, there was raw sewage splatter. My wife and I spent the entire rest of the morning and into the afternoon cleaning the house from head to toe. Not to mention we were still finding sewage splatter into the evening. We threw away the things we felt we could not salvage. I did call the Root Masters offices. I was not looking for payment, but to give them a fair warning this review would be coming. The woman on the phone said she understood. However, she did blame the issue on one of the team members being new to the company/plumbing business and tried to say this was a restoration job, which "happens all the time." FACT: it was NOT a restoration job. She said she would have expected a clean job upon her team leaving. Moral of the story: while most of the time I do believe a company can do right by customers as evident by other's reviews, there are some people who do not have the same experience and should be considered when making choices on how money is spent for repairs. I've been a loyal customer of Rootmaster for several years, but they just lost a good customer. Had them out to snake my drain in my basement (which I usually have to get done once or twice a year). They came out on August 20, 2024 and snaked the drain. Everything was fine when they left. I'm currently on disability so I don't get in the basement often. So this was only my third time washing clothes and the drained backed up. I called them Saturday 9/21/2024, the woman said she had to call her guys and she would get right back to me (she never did). Called today 9/23/2024 and spoke with the lady and she told me "I'm sorry I was supposed to call you back, well I looked into your account and we can't warrenty the work because there was grease in the trap." (I've never been told that whatever you find voids any warranty work). So please be careful with them, they told me it would be another $125 for them to come back out. This should be explained to any customer that you deal with. You can see on the receipt they didn't put anything where the guarantee should be. One star too many!! So I have appt. 11/3 this young kid Brandon shows up, doesn't have a smile on his face looks mad! He proceeds to grab my door without identifying himself. I knew he was from root master. I saw truck, I ask if he could go around to the back, & ask him to grab his snake as I wanted toilet snaked. He comes to back walks to alley leaves gate wide open then comes back to house. I asked if he had a mask & his snake. He replied I have all sizes of snakes & I don't wear masks, mind you I haven't invited him in yet, but he proceeds to come at me he's all up in my face, saying he doesn't wear a mask, I put out my arm out & ask him to back up @ that point he gets very defensive & nasty & says he's leaving & walks away leaving gate another gate wide open. Luckily my security camera was rolling & I had a witness in kitchen. I called his office spoke to Francis no apologies nothing says she'll have to call the boss. She calls back saying Brandon gave a different story & I would have to look elsewhere for plumbing company. Nasty service, no customer service if you need a plumber please look elsewhere. Jacob was knowledgeable and professional, quickly finding the problem as well as identifying that some old pipes were failing and gave me reasonable quote to replace them. The plumber never made it through our door. We asked him to be masked in OUR house because I am in treatment as a cancer patient and he refused. This is not an unreasonable request, pandemic aside, for any person going through chemo. we hired root master 2 1/2 years ago to fix a sinking sewer line. We paid them $2400.00. we recently had our basement flood. after contacting our city, they camera'd our line and discovered that the riser was not set properly. we were told to contact the plumber that did the fix. we did and we were told that they wont fix the riser under the original agreement and that it would be an addition $2900.00 to correct what he should have done in the first place. nothing like taking advantage of customers!!! read more
