I'm not sure why it took me so long to visit this place--though I'll admit the name initially gave me pause. In this case, however, "Roots" turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Roots Café is a small, inviting spot in North Richland Hills that serves genuinely fresh food every day. And by fresh, I mean not pulled from a freezer and reheated--actually made fresh. I didn't get the chance to try the French toast that our server, Kate, highly recommended, but she still guided us toward options that matched exactly what my friend and I were looking for. The omelet was well seasoned and well prepared. I ordered pancakes as a substitute for the French toast, and they were excellent--impressive given that I normally don't enjoy pancakes due to their usual baking-soda taste. These were balanced, flavorful, and something I would order again without hesitation. The Roots Sandwich was also reported to be outstanding, with each bite hitting the mark. Overall, Roots Café exceeded expectations and is absolutely worth a return visit. By the way parking lot is free and has ample spacing. Locally owned in Richland hills. We've been staying out in Euless since being back in Texas. We were taking a different way to fort worth due to traffic and the green sign caught my eye. One quick look at the menu to see it wasn't about to cost me an arm and a leg to eat breakfast we made a uturn. Family owned. The guy said he was the owner, the chef, and the bank. I got the 2 egg combo with skirt steak. Pretty affordable at around $13. The skirt steak was tasty, the eggs were fresh, the fruit didnt taste like chemicals, and the potatoes were awesome. It came with toast or pancakes. I went with pancakes. They were decent. My family had the breakfast sandwich, patty melt, and biscuits and gravy. 2 thumbs up on the b&c they were pretty damn good and so was the patty melt. The breakfast sandwich was also good. I had a reservation for 12 but 30 minutes prior I called to change the number to 20. The lady that answer the phone was so nice and polite. They welcomed us all with smiles and great attitudes. Came here for brunch today with my family. Don't judge it by the exterior- or the interior. The food here is definitely a level up. The food, the presentation, not only of the food but also the staff. It's like fine dining but at home. I had the veggie plate with steak and I loved the variety. Zucchini, carrots, mushrooms and a variety of fresh micro greens. I wasn't asked how I wanted the steak but that's okay it was perfect for its setting. My kids had the breakfast plate with pancakes and it was a pretty big plate with small pancakes that are perfectly fluffy. My husband had the chilaquiles made with a Guajillo sauce. No heat. I prefer my chilaquiles with a lot of heat- inferno, but that's just a preference. I heard customers also raving about their chicken fried steak which I look forward to trying. read more

I hope when we went it was an off day. The food was AMAZING however the service was not. Admittedly, there was a large party leaving when we got there. There has another extra large party seated when we got there. Except for the XL party, there was a table with two ladies. That was all. It took a long time for someone to ask us what we wanted to drink, a long time to bring the drink and get the order, and a long time for the food. We were seated by an older server who was so lovely, she took out drink order and went to fulfill it.. a younger server then came to our table and asked what we wanted to drink.. we told her the other server went to get our drinks and she nonchalantly said " oh, she probably forgot".. So, Friday night we arrived at 4:30pm to get an early start. I ordered the crab cakes & calamari. My husband ordered the lamb chops. As usual the platings' artistic flair could not be beat. Everything was delicious! The crab cakes were delicate, flavorful, & filling. They had very little filler & loads of crab with green onion (that was new for us, but we enjoyed the fresh addition). There were 3 sauces. One was a homemade tartar sauce & then there were the pretty little dots of green & red which were a bit spicy but so very tasty with that crab! The lamb was seasoned & cooked perfectly. My husband was extremely pleased. I am not usually into lamb much, but it really was very well done. The garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed zucchini & spinach, & rosemary sauce were all lovely as well. And those edible flowers add such a fun pop of color to the dishes. 4/4/25 We found this little gem, & are very happy we stopped by. The staff was friendly, attentive, & quick to serve. The prices were terrific with filling portions. The food was fabulous! We seriously enjoyed every bite. I saw this place open along my route to work. I work at a local cat cafe right around the corner, and we aren't allowed to sell "restaurant" food there because there are animals, but we frequently get visitors looking for such. Sometimes they'll ask for recommendations for where they could go instead. And from now on, THIS is the place I will tell them all to go to. The food is AMAZING, beautifully presented, and the wait times and prices are extremely reasonable. I dropped by after church on Sunday afternoon and ordered the chicken fried steak and fries. I also got a side of sautéed spinach. They were delicious and the fries were cooked to crispy perfection. My server was Heather. She was pleasant, efficient and anticipated my needs before I asked such as a side of gravy for my fries, I'm a southern girl so love my fries with cream gravy and extra napkins. We did a pick up order for breakfast . When we got home ....I can tell you the amount of food on the breakfast plate is more than anywhere else around . Fried eggs were great.
