Ten, ten, ten across the board!!!!!!! So I was passing through Slidell and asked a friend if he knew a good coffee spot that wasn't [insert coffee shop, you know the one]. And in that moment I was reminded why I rarely ask for recommendations because my taste runs a little too refined for most. Nevertheless I turned to Maps and typed in "coffee," and the first option was an immediate no. But the second one, the name alone, told me everything I needed to know. The only problem, it was the opposite direction I was headed and I was already running late. But I couldn't ignore that instinct. I had to see for myself. "Sorry boss, can't come in today. I was on my way to work and then a gentle fall breeze blew me in the direction of my destiny and reminded me it is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in this broken world!" Anywho, I'm so happy I stopped. The moment I walked in it felt like home, not in the corny sitcom way, but in that deeper unexpected kind of way. Like walking into a crowded room full of strangers and then seeing your homegirl that instantly makes you feel like yourself again and suddenly the day is yours. Mind you I hadn't even ordered at this point, but that's how good just walking inside made me feel. i felt like a mom that has been saying "you not getting that" all year then christmas day be grinning when baby open that present they been wanting!! Then there's the coffee, I'm still sipping my Beehive Latte now and it's fabulous. And I don't say fabulous often. I was going to go with a vanilla latte but since I sort of felt like I was in Adam and Eve's garden I wanted to try something new. The owner recommended the Crème Brûlée Latte but his wife overheard me going back and forth in my head (out loud) and suggested the Beehive since I like my coffee sweet but not overwhelming. This latte is perfect, pure perfection. I grabbed a chocolate croissant too because they looked delicious and they absolutely delivered. Flaky, golden and brown and no I'm not describing myself. The pastries all looked heavenly. Everything was perfect. Sure, I'm having an exceptionally good day already, maybe because of the weather, maybe because it's Friday, or maybe because I'm an attractive single 6'3 male and ready for eligible suitors. LOVE THIS PLACE!! I love the setting! I love the staff! There was only one glitch and that was the girl that poured my coffee. Said I could come up for a free cup of coffee when I was done because it was a bottomless coffee since I was staying in the shop. When I went up to the counter, asked for my refill the girl started making a transaction on the cash register and I said wait! I was told it was a free cup of coffee for a refill and she said "oh no! You are mistaken. we don't give away coffee!" I said "when the girl poured my coffee she said I can come up for free refills" It took a little back-and-forth and now it seems kind of silly but... It came down to I was told one thing and then all of a sudden I was told another. So for the most part, it was really wonderful. I enjoyed the space. I enjoyed the decor. I enjoyed the overall feeling... I was gonna stay and drink the refill (which I ended up getting for free (them very begrudgingly) but it felt so uncomfortable after that I packed up and left. Excellent coffee spot, friendly and helpful. They have their own roasted beans to drink, but also to buy and enjoy at home. This is the spot I hit up after landing at MSY and heading to Gulfport MS. Visiting this charming coffee shop was a pleasant experience. I love plants and coffee shops so having both in one place was a win! Sipping chai tea while breathing in clean plant air, made me feel like I was doing something good for myself. There were a few separate seating areas. I liked how they were set up so that each party can feel some sense of privacy. It smelled fragrant. There was incense burning, but not enough to aggravate my allergies personally. That's a plus. While visiting the area I wanted to patronize a coffee shop. After doing a little research on Yelp- this one seemed promising. Roots is located in the cutest area of town. I love the vibe of the block. They offer parking in front of the shop as well as across the street. When you walk up you immediately get a happy feeling. The umbrella art installation in the street, the cute tables outside , the plants just take you to a happy place. The inside decor does not disappoint. It gives off vintage vibes with a flare! The couch, the floor model TV, even the trunk decor takes me back to childhood! They have a few dinning options inside as well as the outside tables noted earlier. Durring my first visit I had a drink and the avocado toast. I was not crazy about the toast. As such, the second time I stopped by I only ordered a coffee drink. The drink names are so cute! my absolute favorite coffee shop i have visited, ever. I am someone who travels and makes sure to try a local coffee shop in every town I visit. In this past week, I have been in Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, and Louisiana, and tried shops in every city I was in. I have also been a barista for 6 years prior to my current job, so I know coffee. Maybe I am biased because I am lactose intolerant and oatmilk is preference with coffee, but I was DELIGHTED by the drinks all being made with oatmilk. And oatmilk cold foam?? oatmilk whip??? OBSESSED. I didn't have to stress about accidentally being given dairy. And there are plants everywhere, there are books, it smells beautiful, the baristas are kind, the vibe is refreshing. This is hard for me because this is a family owned business, and they were so friendly and welcoming. I'm doing this with the hopes of helping this business reach 5 star coffee! When I try to pinpoint what could be better with the coffee, I'd start with the quality of water used when making the latte, the latte has a hint of a burnt taste to it. We were on vacation and decided try a new coffee shop. We found this place on yelp. There's parking right in front and across the street. There's a lot of cute murals all over the place. There's an umbrella street right in front. As you are walking in the front door is decorated with cute pink flowers. The place is gorgeous! There's a ton of plants, old TV's , and an old radio is playing. The menu is right in front you can not miss it. The couches and chairs feels like a grandma's house you almost feel like you went back in time. There's a lot of books you can read. The girl who was at the cash register was very patient and helpful. She took her time to answer all our questions. I ordered a caramel latte and my husband ordered a cream brûlée. There is a decent amount of seating if you're looking to sit for a while. Many of the people stopping by took a seat at the bar and chatted for a while.
