Ron's bodyworking skills are truly a contribution to my healing process. My back wouldn't release for the last month, and the past few years really after a few car accidents, and after 90 minutes of the lomi lomi massage my body was back in its natural state. It's amazing how much hypertension I hold in my back, and once it releases, I can be so much more calm. I've tried chiropractic & acupuncture, and the lomi lomi esalen technique did the trick. I need it deep and strong to get into my shoulders, and Ron was able to help my injured wrists by releasing strain from the back and upper arms, and being careful around the injured areas. Usually I get tight again a day after a massage, but I'm still relaxed a few days later. I was glad he responded quickly to my Yelp request for an appointment because my body was knotted up from the stress of leaving our house to an unknown fate in the Kincade Fire. Ron is trained in several massage modalities but I asked for a mostly Esalen style 90 minute session. He is very respectful and responsive to the client's energy so I was quite comfortable. He uses a pleasant combo of coconut and avocado oil that left my skin soft but with no sticky residue. I've lived in the Napa Valley for more than 30 years and have been lucky to have many expert massages. Ron Rose is right at the top of my list of the very best massage therapists. I've seen him regularly for a bit over a year now and every session has helped me. He usually comes to our home in Napa, but his Calistoga studio is very comfortable, too. Ron has plenty of strength to give powerful massage, but usually, I prefer a less challenging touch. He does a lighter massage really well--he's sensitive and immediately responsive to feedback. Ron's whole approach is one imbued with patience and serenity. He's very patient with resistant muscles, of course, but his pace and his intention eventually subdue my tension every time.
