There is a roofed area with 2 picnic tables but no barbecue grill. I have seen families spread blankets on the grassy lot for picnic purposes. I have also come across some ladies who do yoga exercises. For those who shoot hoops, there is a half basketball court. It is a small park but it is clean, well-maintained, not crowded and just the right size and atmosphere for those who want a laid-back playtime with their kids.

I liked that it had a spinning wheel/carousel. There was about one public table, one restroom, and a water fountain. There was also a kid-sized basketball hoop. It's not a court. What are the negatives? There's no space to walk or exercise. It's an extreme bare minimum. This "park" felt like a play-set built in an affluent neighbor's backyard. This is a spot for local residents. Also, the parking is bad for visitors; there's no parking lot. Visitors park on the side of the road; sign says, "No Parking Thursday - 7AM to 11:30AM." Overall, Rancho Park is a quaint curiosity. It's well-maintained, but if it ever gets busy, you'll have zero room to do anything. At the very least, there's nice shades from trees. If bored, you can just lay on the grass. 3.5 out of 5

There's a decent amount of parking, but I would imagine it fills up during peak times. There's a couple of trails and we chose the one that meandered along the river. Unadorned and easy to overlook, it's perhaps the most uncomplicated way to access the natural beauty of this area. Before you go, you need to prepare by...doing absolutely nothing. No Adventure Pass needed. Parking is free, marked by sizeable signage saying El Encanto. It's the remnant of a restaurant built in the 1920's that ceased operations about 20 years ago. A well-maintained trail curves gently down the canyon. On the descending path, you'll be accompanied by the bubbling river, lofty mountain views, and in typical LA fashion, colorful graffiti. It's an easy 2 mile hike round-trip with moderate elevation change. Though it says no river access at the trailhead, you'll actually end up right next to the river for the latter portion of the hike. The trail ends in a quiet oasis, sleek gray stones of assorted shapes and sizes protruding above the water like a floating zen garden. The Azusa Wilderness Park is still in its nascent stages of development by the Watershed Conservation Authority, a local public entity dedicated to planning and maintaining open spaces. Expanded trails, dining services, and interactive nature experiences are part of the plan. Exciting as all that is, for the moment, simplicity also carries its own tranquil charm.

Other than folks mistakenly referring to it as 'Finkbinder', we love our local G-town park…read more I think the additional 'd' might come from an old 50's themed restaurant in the Village called Fender Benders (sp?), which closed many years ago - and folks confusing the two. But, that said, only old Glendorans would be making that mistake and yet I hear folks of all ages add the 'd'. The park has lots of amenities we've used since our kids were born and even before... - summer concerts and movies in the park - birthday or event areas (Scouting) - playground - tennis court (other side taken by pickleball :( - skate park - sports fields - horseshoes - volleyball - community center And more. We love walking through the park on the way to the Village. If you haven't been, worth checking out pretty much any day of the week. So many fond memories created at Finkbiner. Even Pokémon Go events, haha.

This park felt like a comfortable adventure. Did I feel safe? Yes. I primarily saw groups upon groups of families. Many were holding celebrations and gatherings. The location felt clean & well-maintained, and it's one of the few parks that had security cameras from up above. What utilities? There's a large, fun playground area. It has nets to climb, a plastic rock wall, and plenty of slides. There's a park exercising machine area nestled by the playground, and there's a basketball hoop. There's also a volleyball area, baseball field, and concrete cornhole boards for tossed beanbags. There's a restroom, dog waste plastic bag station, water fountains, and many public picnic tables for gatherings. I especially liked how these concrete tables had cover and an installed grill station. What are the negatives? There's no clear walking trail. However, visitors can wander freely since there's a spiderweb of concrete pathways. It also lacks multiple basketball courts, tennis courts, or other familiar areas. Overall, Irwindale Park is scenic, beautiful, and clean. It's a wonderful destination for a family to lounge and relax. The area is well-maintained, and I felt happy as I observed an Irwindale Squirrel pose in front of me for the camera. I enjoyed my visit. 4.7 out of 5

Did I feel safe? Yes. However, the location felt eerily empty. I noticed perhaps two residents just resting, and I saw one staff member cleaning up the trash cans. What utilities? There's a well-maintained, big playground. There's a fenced section for the park's public exercise equipment. There's also MANY tables for gatherings. I especially appreciated how some tables were near a grill area. There's also a public restroom. What are the negatives? There is no walking trail. This is primarily a large, shaded grass spot to gather. Also, the location is fairly basic (ex: no tennis courts, no basketball courts, no baseball area, etc). The grass is also a little disheveled; it doesn't look recently mowed. And this place has no parking lot! Visitors must park on the street by the nearby neighborhood. Overall, I found unexpected comfort at Pioneer Park. It's spacious. It's also relaxing looking up at the tall trees and wonder about the history. This place felt.... nice to simply close your eyes and unwind. 4.4 out of 5

Only trouble here is there's a great deal of insects due to its proximity to the mountains. (Mainly just mosquitoes and biting gnats.) Beware of the occasional coyote at nighttime and drunk kids who like to stop to play the games located in the playground area (after 10pm.)

I love that there's shady spots too if you want to enjoy a picnic under the trees. This park is definitely a nice little refuge from the hustle and bustle of our little town and I highly recommend this place for your summer activities.
