I have been…read moreto three funerals at Bacarella Funeral Home due to being out of state most of our lives. Two were family members, one recent one was a friend with no connection to Bill or his funeral home. I am so very impressed to say I couldn't tell the difference in the compassion, time given, quality of care and overall service provided to the recent widow in her sudden time of need as was given to our family in previous funerals. Everything was beautiful and the staff was wonderful. Bacarella Funeral Home is the place to go in this time of life if a person wants the respect and dignity in such a sensitive time.

Thankfully I checked and corrected. Jokes were made to me about my husband haunting this employee because of an article of clothing. A ribbon for the flowers was not ordered. Last name of 2 grandchildren misspelled, I had everything written out. Continuously brought up ex wife, this employee was a cousin to the ex. Told ex mother in law when we were coming in to make arrangements because this employee had family obligations. Escorted ex mother in law in during immediate family only viewing. The ex family had nothing to do with my husband for the last 15 years. Mini urns were dropped off for my husbands family, 6 total. This same employee told me she took out extra for other family members without even asking me. The owner told me I could contact the family and retrieve my husbands ashes, but I did get the bulk of him. Never ever would I recommend this circus. I had one chance at this being the perfect send off for my husband and they took this from me. No stars should be given

Also I was in such terrible grief at the time and could barely function and didn't know you could have your loved one's fingerprint saved or a clipping of hair etc which she NEVER told me about and would have meant the WORLD to me to have. We had a closed casket funeral and she never offered to put my loved one in a lovely and complete outfit of clothing which I also would have wanted had I been thinking straight at the time and she never offered or suggested this either. Mary was very cold and uncompassionate in her suggestions for writing the obituary too. I would never ever recommend this funeral home to anyone who cares about their precious loved ones!

I called to schedule an appointment & they got me in right away. They were so kind, empathetic & knowledgeable. Jeff Rupp walked me through the process. He wrote a beautiful obituary from the information that we supplied to him. I told him what I wanted & he made it all happen for me. He even expedited the cremation process so Scott's ashes would be at the funeral on Sunday. They had a beautiful large room with lots of seating & a kitchen off to the side. I had 6 boards of pictures & they even provided easels for them. They arranged everything so beautifully. I asked for a locke of Scott's hair & they clipped & saved some for me before he was sent to the crematorium. His service was yesterday, ending late. Jeff told us that if we would like we could pick up the flowers in the morning. That was really nice since we were exhausted. I highly recommend Rupp Funeral Home, they are so accommodating! They make you feel like family! Please see my picture. My husband would have loved it! Flowers by Monroe Florist.

We entered and no one was around. I said "You-Hoo?" and no one answered. My niece opened the first available door and saw a woman in a black skirt suit with her blouse untucked and in bare feet standing over an open casket. This woman came out, still disheveled and in bare feet and greeted us. (We should have left then but they had already picked up the body of my sister. She led us to an elevator, which had a huge bag of garbage on it, and took us to a downstairs meeting room. Among other things, she was not prepared for our appointment. She kept leaving to get things she needed. I wanted just a plain cremation because we were planning to inter her elsewhere in the summer. Many times, she said that "they" could help with that. She seemed to be interested in making more business. The funeral home wrote what I believe was an AI generated obituary after I had given her a detailed statement that I wrote. The saleswoman told us that the home would call when they received the death certificates. They did not. I called and had to pick them up at another inconvenient location. Finally, they did deliver my sister's remains, re-emphasizing that they would like to help us with her internment. Deli8vering my sister was the wrong time to ask for more business. I had to write the real obituaries and submitted them to the Monroe News and the Toledo Blade. A couple of weeks later they delivered an "advertising mug" and a corrected obituary. This certainly was too late, and the mug was in poor taste. Just because Merkle Funeral Home has several locations does not mean they are good at what they do. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!

First and for out-of-towners, location. Walker's is simple to find with a friendly location just west of Corey Road. There is a Corey Road exit of I-475 which made discovering Walker's easy. Parking, too, was more than ample given the business has two parking lots to the east and west. To the north is the Sylvania Arboretum making the view from the front of Walker's peaceful and beautiful, even while gazing over a busy street. Guest services. By this I mean greetings and salutations given by the Walker staff. I was made comfortable entering the large and beautiful building. Two Walker staffers were there to greet me in friendly fashion, and they attire was spot-on professional. They suggested the party name, kindly point the direction of the rooms AND suggested I sign the Guest Register. Very nice. The room and viewing areas were well appointed, not entirely understated by a calming color scheme, well managed accoutrements and nice facilities for men & women. There were HDTV for family picture flow. The placements of flowers were well arranged. Leaving I was thanked by Walker staff for attending. In my mind I don't imagine there being a smoother operation in Toledo.

REALLY AWFUL customer service at this funeral home. They didn't get the very simple service format…read moreright even though we laid it out for them in person days before. The funeral director insisted that we all drive our own route to the National Cemetery in Seville. After the service the VERY HOSTILE funeral director actually pulled the hearse back into the funeral home parking lot and demanded that no cars follow the hearse to the cemetery and very ANGRILY stated that Ohio state law prohibits a funeral procession, as if he actually controls what cars are behind him on publicly owned roadways. I can only assume that the procession must be a paid service through the funeral home, I wasn't involved in those arrangements, BUT the funeral director does NOT police the publicly owned roadways in Ohio. The funeral director was also completely uniformed on the National Cemetery service protocol and, again VERY ANGRILY, actually told us that he's "in charge of the service at the cemetery and there will be no time for the family to reads poems or perform an acoustic song", even though I cleared that with National Cemetery officials days before, when in reality his self perceived "power" ended once the casket came out of the hearse, as he soon found out. He also told us the National Cemetery prohibits flower spray placement on grave after burial. But lo and behold, there were flower sprays on fresh graves. Our family handled all of the HORRIBLE treatment by this funeral director with humility and dignity. We're bewildered by his ANGRY, HOSTILE behavior. Overall experience by our GRIEVING FAMILY with this business: ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. We won't be doing business with them again.
