Rosemanor - Pet Breeders Near Me

So we got our puppy from them at 7 weeks, within a month she had developed a weird gait and wouldn't walk for long. Took her to the vet and she already had anaplasmosis (tick disease). Since we live in the city and never once encounter ticks on her we are sure she came to us with this disease. She also has many digestion issues and it took months to figure out which protein she could actually tolerate. She has been aggressive towards young children and when reached out to breeder they said they never had issues with their dogs being aggressive. Overall she's a good dog but I would never purchase from this breeder again. read more

Bought a Welsh Terrier pup from Rosemanor in 2015. In 2016 she was diagnosed with Diabetes insipidus. Diabetes insipidus occurs when the body can't regulate how it handles fluids. The condition is caused by a hormonal abnormality and isn't related to diabetes. In addition to extreme thirst and heavy urination, other symptoms may include getting up at night to urinate or incontinence . Depending on the form of the disorder, treatments might include hormone therapy, a low-salt diet, or drinking more water. I did talk to the owner and she offered to exchange the dog with a new pup. I declined because how can you give up a dog that is part your life and you love? I asked her if she could split the difference in her price and she wouldn't. Dog breeders count on this! Buyer beware. We have a pup from Rosemanor Terriers. I am in no way ever thinking of getting rid of her or asking for monetary reimbursement (FYI we paid $1400 just as a reference point). I just want to protect others from purchasing from this breeder and save you some trouble. When we arrived to pick her up, I asked to see the mom and dad. Right then we should have turned around. The owner said "No, they aren't around" or "Not right now". That is the first sign that we should have walked away! Shame on us! At a good breeder, you will always see the parents - at a "backyard breeder" or "puppy mill" you will never have access to the parents. Since we purchased our dog, I have seen the mom of our pup pregnant 1-2 more times. I know this b/c I once in a while check up on their website to see what they are offering. These moms are kept constantly pregnant and keep producing pups for the owners pockets. Another thing that this breeder does it mix breeds - Welsh Terrier + Airedale. This is unheard of! This pollutes the whole idea of purebred dogs! This is unacceptable and dangerous to the breed! We have luckily not had any health issues but I know a bunch of people who have purchased from this breeder who do have pups with all types of skin issues and vision problems. In terms of her behavior - That is another thing. She is not allowed with any other dogs due to her aggression. When I walk her, I do it in off hours so we don't see anyone on leash. She was nippy as a puppy but that has gone away. She has never bit anyone, but does show her teeth when faced with something that's unfamiliar. We are working on behavior modifications currently. Net net, please reconsider your choice when looking for a Welsh Terrier or Airedale Terrier. Possibly consider a rescue from WTC, Welsh Terrier Cares, run by Lyn Hollis. I know that they get many calls about owner relinquishes due to aggression and overall unhappiness. When we first got our girl, I called her too! I didn't know what to do! We absolutely love our little girl. But if I could prevent someone from having the same "walk on eggshell" feeling that I have every morning on our walks, I would feel so much better. read more

As a member of a Welsh terrier rescue group and an adopter of WT rescues, I need to report that the group has heard multiple stories from people who buy from this breeder only to end up with pups with serious aggression issues and/or serious medical problems. The breeder, when contacted, says the same thing each time: this has never happened before with their dogs. Multiple people report stories that are incredibly similar. This is awful for the pups and truly sad for the owners. Buy from a reputable breeder. This establishment only brings lots of heartache. read more

I love my dog, but I wish someone would have warned me about this breeder. Even if you are interested in an Airedale or their "designer breed," please call/talk to someone from WTCares. My dog has health issues and severe aggression issues. At 17lbs, my almost 2yo Welsh Terrier is the cutest thing, but we were having issues with biting, growling, attacking other dogs, and 3 trainers said we had the most "independent" dog they have met. The countless tears and missing hours of sleep were excruciating. Whatever we tried just did not work. Turns out we were not alone, WTCares had countless stories of dogs from this breeder, mainly of aggression, but like mine, both aggression and health issues. I'm not saying every dog from this breeder is unhealthy or aggressive. What I am saying, based on my experience and the numerous stories from WTCares and Welsh Terrier Facebook groups, is this breeder does not have the dogs' best interest at heart of the matter. The breeder is in it for the profits, and if I could do it again though my dog is family, I would not have supported this breeder. read more

We are experienced WT owners. Our current WT is from Rosemanor Terriers and the second in our extended family from there. Two different litters 18 months apart, all different sires and dames. There have been NO aggression issues with either dog and NO skin issues with either dog. Both are great family dogs. Great around our 20mo old grand daughter, playful and tolerant of other dogs ( unless they feel the need to protect one of us). We routinely walk our dog amongst crowds of other people and dogs in public places like we have since she was 8 weeks old with no issues. Protective behaviors toward food is instinctive for a dog and to some extent their toys. Aggression is learned behavior. A rescued animal with aggression issues learned them while a puppy with the first owner. Not while in the litter with it's mother. Knowledgeable dog owners should understand this. Owning terriers is not for people who are looking only for a cute prop. They are intelligent, strong willed and need appropriate training and assimilation into the household. All breeds benefit from grain free diets which are consistent with a canine's nutrition/digestive needs. It is all too easy to want to put blame on the breeder. I don't believe that is smart in this case as I have visited the kennel and seen the environment in which these animals are born and live until adopted to their forever homes. I found No issue. *Breeding sick Dogs* I got my Welsh Terrier Tucker from Rosemanor in December 2008 for $1,200.00. At first, he seemed normal, nice coat, good temperament, healthy. Around the time he turned 2, all that changed. He started itching - a lot, and wouldn't stop. The itching escalated into nibbling himself, biting his fur off his side, nibbling his paws and always scratching. Then he developed growths, mostly on his back - small and not anything serious but still they were there. His coat developed a greasy feel from being yeasty all the time and he had numerous ear infections. I constantly took him to the vet for tests, looking for answers but nothing concrete was ever found allergy wise. We have tried everything - diet, Apoquel, medicated shampoo, antibiotics, benadryl, allergy testing, prescription dog food and many other things. Some have worked briefly, none have worked for any length of time. I called the breeder early on in his health issues but she was not helpful. About 2 years ago, he developed a cataract and is blind in one eye now. The eye specialist told us she could not be sure the surgery would restore his sight and for $5,000 it was not a risk we wanted to to take. Now a cataract is developing in the other eye. Tucker is also slightly aggressive - mainly towards me, his #1 caregiver, but I have sustained some good bites over the years. We would never give Tucker away as we all (my husband and 3 kids) truly believe he needs us to keep him as healthy as possible. We understand him and have learned to manage him to keep him comfortable. Even with the biting, we love him and feel very sorry for him that he is never completely healthy despite our best efforts. He gets lots of love, a gourmet specially prepared diet and medication when warranted. But please, heed my advice, if you want a Welsh Terrier do not go to Rosemanor - ever. The pictures look adorable (it's how I went there and I was first time dog owner so I didn't know better) but the dogs are not healthy. We have spent probably $10,000 - $13,000 in vet bills for surgeries, testing, medication, Rx food, Rx shampoo etc and Tucker is only 8! There are so many honest, reputable breeders out there who love Welsh Terriers and treat their dogs with the respect they deserve. We acquired a 2nd Welshie from one such breeder and her health versus Tucker's is night and day. Her coat is gorgeous, her health is perfect and her temperament is completely normal (for a Welshie). PLEASE don't buy your puppy from Rosemanor. This woman needs to be put out of business. We bought our Welsh Terrier puppy from Rosemanor last year. From the beginning he has had aggression issues, mainly around the guarding of possessions. He has bit all of us in the family at one time or another, even to the point of requiring stitches. When I contacted WTCares (welshterrierrescue.com), they were all too familiar with this breeder and the aggressive dogs coming out of there. They have spoken with her and customers have complained but she continues to sell and breed the dogs with no warning to interested buyers. I too will disagree with the other reviewers. I am on my third Airedale. She is the first from Rosemanor and she is exactly the same as my other Airedales, no bad traits, no health issues, no problems. She is a textbook airedale. Rosemanor was professional, and I met the siblings and the mother. The dogs and facility were clean. The other reviewers with negative comments seem to all have Welsh Terriers and are unhappy with their personalities. I have also had a Welsh and the traits they are not happy about are all Welsh and not specific to Rosemanor. Welsh Terriers are a difficult breed and not fuzzy cuddly easy dogs. They have some good points, but if you want a Welsh, read about them first. These reviewers don't seem to have done their research. I went back and purchased a Rosemanor Terrier, half Welsh, half Airedale. He is an excellent dog, healthy, clean, and has an excellent personality. I see that one reviewer is very unhappy with this idea, but: All breeds were developed by cross breeding, many dogs are crossbred and none of us are further breeding these dogs. ( See Whoodles, Labradoodles, etc). I also met the mother who is an excellent Airedale with a perfect disposition. I would and do recommend this breeder and their dogs. read more

I got my pup, whom I love dearly, from Rosemanor. We have had aggression issues since the beginning. First we thought that it was just "puppy nipping" but then it continued and became progressively worse. We started a basic obedience class at 10-11 weeks old, 1:1 classes and he excelled. Then food aggression started, then random aggression started. My trainer recommended I call the breeder because if she were an honest breeder she would tell me if other dogs had any behavioral issues reported. So, I called and explained everything that had been going on with my pup. Her recommendations to me were to put him on free feed (for food aggression) and, I quote, "Welsh terriers do not like to be told 'no', so don't tell him 'no' so much." She also told me that no one had reported any behavioral issues. After 9 weeks, our training classes ended, and the aggression continued (even though his obedience is amazing). It expanded from food, to the crate, to opening a cabinet, to even attacking us if we sneezed. We tried some holistic care that was recommended to us by someone on a welsh terrier facebook page, another trainer, and talked to vet. Nothing was working. We got him neutered, we went back to our original trainer, and after all this, it got to the point where he wouldn't let anyone near him to put a collar on or take a leash off. After his surgery he had a donut on and it took us (with our trainer) an hour to get it off of him safely, only to have to take him to the vet a few days later to get it back on... (which then took the entire vet staff almost 2 hours to get the donut on). At this point It was recommended to me to re-home him (I couldn't imagine doing that and no rescue would take him due to having a bite history) or to put him down (unfathomable). So, I emailed the breeder and let her know everything that had been going on, reminded her of the advice that she had given me, to let her know that all of the professionals I had been working with determined this was a "genetic" issue, not a learned behavior. I then let her know that I was very upset with this news because I had heard of two other pups from the same litter that also had aggression issues and that I would NEVER recommend Rosemanor to anyone I know because this is a genetic issue,which means it is a result of her breeding. The response I got was "he started training too young; it takes time;" Placing all the blame on me. We are still working with our pup, in fact we just picked him up from a 3 week board and train facility where he stayed with the head trainer at his house and were told the same news we had heard before, "It's genetic." I love my pup so much and luckily I do not live with children at this time and he is an only dog (even though he is amazing with other dogs). If you are looking to get a Welsh Terrier- or any Terrier- from Rosemanor, I wouldn't. It is hard for me to say that because I am sure that some people have wonderful pups from there, but with what seems to be an increase in behavioral problems, they are doing something terrible there. If you need anymore proof of how terrible this "breeder" is- contact Welsh Terrier Cares- the rescue group- they will tell you that a many of the pups they have had come through them are from Rosemanor due to behavioral issues. read more

We needed a new dog after our two Cairns passed away, from old age. We searched for weeks to find a suitable dog. (Small dog, puppy, hypoallergenic, reasonably local). For one reason or another, we had no luck. Finally we found Rosemanor. We had a choice of about 5 pups, each a cross between an Airedale, and a Welsh Terrier. We chose one of the two smallest pups, and we couldn't be happier. We have had her now for several months, and couldn't be happier. Wow! After reading all these reviews I have to say that I am shocked! I thought I was the only one. We love our Dog but we have suffered the same thing that everyone else has with Rosemanor. Our male has terrible skin issues, aggression and experienced the same answer from the breeder when i showed up to ask to see the parents. Right when we brought him home he started to itch and was in very much need of a bath. We, of course, would never give him back but I am troubled to see others having the same problem we do. Please reconsider this breeder. Also, they are now selling dogs for $1800.00 and I see the same poor mother always pregnant. Not good and very unethical!!!! read more

I got my welsh terrier here in 2012. When I picked her up she smelled terrible which was a bad sign. She had worms which my vet treated successfully. She is a wonderful loving dog but has terrible allergies since she was about 1. Her vet bills have run $1500/year to deal with skin infections, blood tests, skin biopsies, multiple medications, allergy testing. I have met others who got their welshes here and had similar issues. I wish I knew all the problems with this breeder before, which is why I am posting this review now. read more

I have an airedale who is 3 and a welsh who is 1 and both are amazing dogs from the start with no issues. Most people reviewing seem to be projecting about their own inability to properly train and socialize their dogs. I was able to see the mother on request. And sometimes just like with people the wrong genes are passed on but that may be the exception not the rule. My pups from rosemanor have no health problems, great dispositions, and have been great from day one. read more

I totally disagree with all the reviews here. I bought my male welsh terrier for 1400 almost two years ago. I don't even take my dog to the vet! I just make sure he gets his shots at a local pet store..my dog gets along very well with other dogs. I take him some morning to Juniper Park where he runs freely with many other dogs. I get lots of compliments on his behavior and his disposition. yes he does snap at me when he has something he does not want to let go of. but what dog doesn't do that? this is not to blame the breeder but blame yourself for not training your dog to drop it! I have no skin issues, vision issues nothing at all...He eats vegetables, raw meat, coconut oil and his dry dog food. The only issue he developed was eating his own poop if not supervised..but again what dog does not do this. I am extremely happy with Rosemanor and her website and reviews say it all..I have to agree I was not able to see the mom but I did see another dog male that breeds puppys from. I have a beautiful dog and he is a hard head. but that's my fault from spoiling him. He needs training to be well behaved. Rosemanor also warned me when you have kids he can grow up misbehaved. My son is very playful with him and when my dog is tired he growls at him. I love him and hes super healthy I have no issues what soever with him...hes very smart dog.... read more
